While I would agree in the strictest sense that it's a defect, I think it's a largely benign defect. Homosexuality per se would only be a serious problem if it became more than few percentage points of the population.

Also, no, being gay is not a "step" towards being trans. Trans people have every possible sexual orientation like cis people do - they aren't part of a linear process. There is also no jump from there to animals and kids.

I guess the question I have here is this: wouldn't any goal I intend to achieve through meditation or similar be more achievable if I'm at peace with myself? If I'm at peace with myself, why would I want to change my sexuality?

I also have a problem with the "you have to believe it will work" thing I always used to see around New Age-y/occult-y type shit. If it's real, then I don't have to believe in it for it to work.

Admittedly, there is no reason why it couldn't work in the reverse direction, since the way it is done is basically brainwashing, and most people who go through it have severe mental trauma and really, not all of them succeed at conversion.
