there doesn't seem to be a post about this yet, so i'll make it myself. what are your thoughts on this?

>do you think this will raise awareness of transgenderism to the general public?
>do you think this will be a good thing for the trans community?
>what does anon think about non-binary genders?
>do you think it makes sense for this particular magazine to be covering such an issue?
>do you think this issue will have an overall positive influence on the public's acceptance of these things?
>did anon read this month's issue? if so, what did you think about the topics covered?
discuss.

>yes
>no
>they don't exist, there are people who experience neuter dysphoria but i've concluded that's a different thing from transsexualism
>no
>no
>no
also, the black trans woman on the cover is a rapist who raped a trans man trying to get him pregnant. just gonna throw that one out there
>>
>>7667353
Black men raping women, what else is new?
>>
>>7667353
>neuter dysphoria, different thing from transsexualism
Do you think it has a different psychological cause or that non-binary people don't have enough in common with transsexuals?
>>
>>7667542
different psychological cause, different treatment plan
i've known a decent number of people with that experience in my life and they make up the bulk of the rapidly growing number of detransitioners i know
not exactly the same thing, but someone who was dysphoric neuter and is now detransitioning talking about how nonbinary transition is impossible: http://neat-dyke.tumblr.com/post/154578646192/negative-social-effects-of-my-mastectomy
>>

literally who cares

there are more important things going on right now
>>

it doesn't make sense to be covering it in ''AMERICA''
Aren't there a billion better mags set up for that?
the Ameri-centrism of snowflakes is what I detest the most about them.
Why wouldn't this instead be a full-on special edition blitz issue about how it functions around the world and how it ties into spiritual beliefs in some of them, ala India or Philippines?
And they could also have talked about how it's forced in some places as part of the sex tourism industry. (there's a decent amount of 100% straight 'ladyboys' I found out through /b/ fetish threads, that were forced to transition after being sold into slavery over debts)

Interestingly their suicide rate is near non-existent, they view it pretty pragmatically in a least-i'm-not-flipping-burgers way. Western culture would have you expect they be psychologically traumatised but it seems to be seen more like a marathon running breaking a leg and being told they can never run again.
There's just a sort of begrudging acceptance, like a deadbeat dad in the US going to a debtor's prison.
The lucky straight ones wind up marrying Japanese women that fetishise them as much as western men do. The rest have to settle for being some oil magnate's cum-dumpster import waifu.
Soooo, yea, somewhere out there at this very moment, /d/'s wildest hentai fantasies are being realised.
>>
>>7667582
>tfw i'll never be a ladyboy forced to transition with a stable income

If only you read the issue instead of literally judging it by its cover. It DOES cover genders in many countries, including even polynesian trans people and the way they're perceived in their own culture. It also has large editorials about gender roles in general in different countries and how gender expectations influence younger children to behave a certain way and curb their aspirations for the future. It's a fantastic issue that absolutely fits in the spectrum of topics NatGeo has covered in the past, and it features a lot of gorgeous photography as well

What's funny is that, for all we know, that "male" might be trans and just didn't want to label himself that way. So it's possible there are no cis people on the cover at all (besides the trenders).

>also, the black trans woman on the cover is a rapist who raped a trans man trying to get him pregnant. just gonna throw that one out there
Source please?

this nat geo issue popped up in december in /lgbt/

>do you think this will raise awareness of transgenderism to the general public?
if white-only gender non-conforming issue = transgenderism to the gender public, then yes
>do you think this will be a good thing for the trans community?
not really since they are portrayed with only supportive parents and given a special snowflake slant instead
>what does anon think about non-binary genders?
there are third gender in certain culture, so sure, why not
>do you think it makes sense for this particular magazine to be covering such an issue?
if they cover cultural stuff sure, but their views are biased, not portraying the whole picture in all views
>do you think this issue will have an overall positive influence on the public's acceptance of these things?
for gender non-conforming and trans issue, not really due to their slanted portrayal of "snowflake" + "priviledged" + "lucky" ones
>did anon read this month's issue? if so, what did you think about the topics covered?
glanced, not read in detail. flipped through all the pages to try find something that interest me but nothing new/interesting came out of the entire thing. not worth the money to buy it in my opinion if you are trans already. it's not in detail of the "revolution" and their view is biased.

bottom line is, if you are look forward to some more info regarding the gender "revolution" the cover seem to suggest, you will be disappointed when they don't really cover anything "new" (other than the special snowflake portrayal of young gender non-conforming trans "american" kids) that might have not be on a magazine covering similar stuff back in the 90s.

where is the topic regarding the pursuing reversal of male circumcision? the U.S. policy in updating the draft rule to finally include women? lgbt issues in the media? the portrayal of trans people with non-accepting parents? escorts/caming/prostitution of trans? goverment trans policy around the world?

MtF here
I flipped through some pages but I couldn't bear reading it. It looked like it's the same old snowflakes followed by the feminist conclusion that gender isn't real or whatever. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I still haven't seen anyone in the current decade portray transsexualism as the medical disorder that it is. No discussion on the research done one it or the history of different treatments that used to be tried. Again, correct me if I'm wrong and this paper actually covers these issues. But if not, articles like these is part of the problem, not the solution. The reason that children can't transition in some places is because assholes like these portray transsexualism as a trendy choice and not a crippling disorder that can kill you.
>>
>>7668256
>being transgender can get you killed and therefore it is a disorder
this is like saying "in western society, being black means you are more likely to be murdered than white people. therefore, we should treat blackness like a birth deformity instead of trying to combat society's racist tendencies" complete and utter bullshit. sorry, anon.

also, LMAO @
>i'm a transgender and i think that people who discuss gender issues are all SJW snowflakes
opinions like these are a dime a dozen on this board. please actually contribute something worthwhile instead of masquerading your stockholm syndrome.
>>
>>7668321
that's not the cause of death she was talking about
>>
>>7668321
It can get you killed because it's a disorder that can very easily lead to suicide. Stop being dumb.
>>
>>7668123

google cherno biko. she confessed on medium but unfortunately deleted it. all sources you're going to find are from radical feminists because the trans community doesn't really give a shit about rape.
>>
>>7667557
no there aren't. except maybe global warming.
The culture war going on is literally the most important thing right now.
