Took me a while to accept it too, I still am not sure I do. My case is weird because I accidentally stumbled upon tranny porn before I ever saw straight porn. My first exposure to a fully grown naked woman was one with a penis. For a while it was really weird because the concept seemed so natural to me, like if you asked me in casual conversation about "shemales" I'd have talked about it openly because I didn't understand it was an oddity. I was 10, I thought everyone found them hot.

That fucked me up because as things continued and I realized I wanted to be like that, and wasn't happy as a male, I convinced myself it was a fetish I got from early exposure to tranny porn.

But I realized that my desire to be female stretches way past anything to do with sex and I remember having these feelings since I was a toddler.
