Keep in mind they only put pronouns on there if someone in-game refers to them by those pronouns.

The worst part is the fact they use the pronouns people refer to the character to, which is nowhere near the same as what their preferred pronouns would be if they were tangible.

I figure it's just a round about way to deal with controversy over what the gender of the character is. You can debate gender. What pronouns people give them is a fact.
I don't know why it's so awful. Perhaps eye roll inducing, but not really a "I don't want to live on this planet anymore, shoot me in the head" type of feel.
