There have been far worse shootings and the like in the not-so-distant past (think at least from 2015 to now) outside of the US. Not to mention that most people just go "eh, it's already common in 'murrica, why should i care more now". I'm not saying it wasn't an awful terrible crime, but people don't have much of a reason to really care. Not to say that it happened in Latino night at a gay bar, which may make some of the country's news networks reluctant to cover much on the issue
