Does it have to be either or? I don't think so personally.
I feel it's important to put these questions into context in order to find a real answer i.e. here, to realize humans are more alike than we are different. FAR more alike than we are different, so for me it's a no brainer that we can feel similar attraction to either sex and that it can change based on a myriad of factors.

To answer your question finally, yeah I think it's highly possible to have a change of heart regarding whatever it is that lights your fire, and yes some folk have trouble accepting themselves. Lots in fact.

Everyone probably has bisexual tendencies but not stable enough that they genuinely like both genders to a point that labeling themselves bi would be necessary. I've always liked men but occasionally I see a girl that I want to fuck the shit out of or get aroused at the thought of a soaking vagina and floppy tits but other times they're revolting. It's easier for yourself and everyone around you to just say you're straight/bi because you're attraction to one gender will always be there and attraction to another will fluctuate
