Honestly, I've had the opposite experience. Spiro nearly dehydrated me to death and made my dick leak blood for days. Ok, there were several bottles of champagne involved...
But I haven't had any dangerous side-effects since I switched to cypro. Liver function is pretty much intact after more than a year on it.

Of course, on one hand, I'd like to be free of AAs altogether. On the other hand, staying on to keep autonomous sexual reactions silenced after SRS is tempting.

spiro and cypro aside, i would assume any other AAs you've heard of have been GnRH agonists such as triptorelin (Decapeptyl, Trelstar) and leuprorelin (Lupron).
they are both GnRH agonists. they work by overstimulating the pituitary gland to create gonadotropin releasing hormones until the pituitary gland becomes desensitized to it and stops all together.
that means for the first 2 weeks you actually get a surge in levels of testosterone before it drops off.
and i mean i guess i would be willing to bite the bullet and ride those 2 weeks out if i were getting leuprorelin through the NHS, but if i have to self medicate (which i am doing), i might as well go for a better drug.
degarelix is an antagonist, not an agonist. there is no initial 2 week surge in testosterone, and it takes 3 days to drop to castrate levels.

it doesn't mess with your progesterone receptors. it doesn't mess with your electrolyte balance. it's literally perfect...

apart from the price. it costs like, 20 times as much as spiro.
