I think you're conflating gender identity with gender expression.

Gender "stereotypes" would likely refer to gender expression the way people present themselves.

Gender Identity is a person's internal sense of being male or female.

Now for genderqueer people or genderfluid people, both of these characteristics aren't fixed. Referring to themselves as masculine women or feminine men would be accurate on some days and inaccurate on others. Sometimes it would never feel right.

Also, this persistent notion that not having a fixed gender-identity undermines "legitimate dysphoria" sounds absurd to me. To me it sounds like somebody who says "bisexuals undermine the struggles that REAL gays have to go through in society to find a partner of the same sex, because they can always flip back and forth."
