Yes. What we make up in social efficiency, we more than lose to undirected labor, squandered potential, and especially unexplored aesthetic. Based on fashion alone, I say down with gender norms. Look at women's fashion in the West: it gets to be all kinds of crazy at the different levels, because their (visual) norms are so much wider than most genders in most cultures.

We'd also be better off with less sexual censorship. It just creates obsessions and dramas that are totally pointless except to create restrictive castes. You'd see a whole hell of a lot more bisexual actions, if self-reporting is to be believed in that case. Bisexual fantasies are far more common, especially among women, than the practicing bisexuals would indicate.

I would convert to a coherent, polytheistic religion that espoused proselytization, social harmony, and charitable transcendence instantly. I would even beat pavement to spread the good word about it, and participate in the creation and teaching of musical worship in its canon. Fertility gods are vital to the human spirit, and they always have been.

Look at how they developed. If we sent off women to war and let men stay at home, we would be less efficient. Imagine if in our earlier days, we let women hunt and men raised children. Much efficiency would be lost.
Concurrently, gender roles are positive because they can facilitate healthy relationships between men and women. They give people a sense of identity and belonging that would disappear if they were removed completely. Plus, femininity and masculinity go further beyond social actions. They are embedded in our culture.

This applies to humans only. The only reason why men and women are more optimized to do one thing better than the other one is because they were repeatedly propelled to do a specific act the ruling majority assigned to different sexes over centuries of evolution and the "male BIG! female small!" trope does not hold true universally across all animal species since females in some species tend to be bigger and more suitable for hunt while males for nurturing. Human females in the Western world were also purposely given less food and often died young due to complicated childbirth never truly reaching their full potential that could be passed down the line and we only see it now that women are starting to grow as tall as men due to proper nutrition and being given more control over their reproductive system.

We could say that it should be in the human male's best interest to keep women small, weak, uneducated therefore stupid and their bipedalism partially hindered by childbearing hips if he wants his kind to survive.

Gender norms exist for a reason, they provide a structural framework for society. But we shouldn't follow them too strictly or avoid questioning them. For the most part, ethics and morality is gender-neutral, the only difference between "how to be a good man" and "how to be a good woman" is really how you implement the ideas differently based on differing lifestyles. And if we view gender roles and norms as something sacred that can't be questioned, we end up stuck with norms created for the culture of several generations ago, that may no longer be appropriate. The relevance and appropriateness of norms generally depends a lot more on culture than gender.
