There's cultural and religious reasons for it, IIRC buddhism/etc is tolerant and some monks even crossdress for festivals; whereas western culture has spent the last 1500 years having a certain mindset deeply ingrained into them. It's pretty hard to change that.

Hey this seems like a good place to ask this; Should ai quit my job or work while transitioning. The environment is pretty accepting but still you know how it is. But if I quit I'll have no money for a while and that'll suck. What should I do?

Should I feel worried at this moment?

I had my third endocrinologist appointment this past Friday. He told me that my testosterone dropped from 360 to 18.9 while my estrogen was currently around 222. He said it was close to normal female ranges which also lead to his answer to my question regarding t-blockers to be that I don't need them because my T is so low.

He requires a blood test a week prior to the appointment so I did it the Friday before that one. I am not on testosterone blockers and still on the same dosage which is 0.1 mg patches of estradiol which I have to wear for 7 days before switching. I switch on Sunday at the beginning of the week to keep things simple although one anon here suggests I do it on Thursday or so as to ensure I time the labs between the time I remove and replace the patches since my lab facility is closed on the weekends.

I am freaking out right now. Do I need to worry? I am scared.

Does anyone here have experience transitioning through the NHS?

Yeah, it kinda seems that they would want anything that they already assume to be true, the fact that they emphasise the event that you weren't bothered by to the extent of reassuring you that it didn't really take place is telling. But of course your dad is probably trying to deal with it in his own way and the longer it is ambiguous the more it might bubble up, I would tell them, if you got your own place, you're not obligated to face any shame from the aftermath for a bit, just seclude yourself for a while before being more comfortable with being open about it. here's my understanding of the various genders. before the world met Caitlyn Jenner, gender in the dictionary was defined as a grammatical term describing any "group" of things that shared a notable trait. When gender is used in the context of one's relation to one's own body these days, it's that person's individual understanding of the role they feel their identity and body plays with regard to their social and sexual expression. it's not revisionist tumblr history to state that cultures throughout history across the globe have recognized more than two genders, and didn't consider "gender", or one's sociosexual expression, as existing in a binary. words have meaning, and are useful tools for people who resonate with them. for some female-bodied people, their understanding of the word "demisexual" may be a better way of describing their sociosexual expression than "tomboy" and all the historical baggage that carries. it seems like bullshit, but you have to understand that language and by extension, culture, is constantly in a state of flux. language evolves to describe culture, and culture evolves to expand language. english in particular is extraordinary because of how grossly descriptive it is compared to just about any other language, so it makes sense you get this cavalcade of new terms for gender expression during what seems like the western world's "gender enlightenment". is some of it attention whoring? sure, but every generation does it (emo, grunge, scene, punkrock, all could be classified as "genders" inasmuch as they describe a archetype of social expression). I wouldn't worry about it unless it'll help you understand someone you care deeply about, so that you don't jeapordize a friendship due to ignorance on your part. otherwise, just move along. hope that helps
