How does /lgbt/ feel about the word "queer"?
Personally, I hate it. It doesn't offend me or anything, I just don't like how everyone is forced to accept this word whether they like it or not. I think it sounds dumb and ugly. The phrase "queer community" is stupid imo and I prefer the phrase "LGBT community" or even "LGBT+ community" if you feel the original acronym isn't inclusive enough.
It seems everyone on tumblr absolutely adores this word and uses it to refer to the community all the time. Also, they use it to describe people who have never identified this way, instead of their preferred word (gay, bisexual, etc.)
I don't give a fuck if any one person uses it to describe themselves (although self-identified queers tend to be pretty annoying from what I've seen), I just don't want to be described that way myself. Yes, I know there's history involving this word.
In a lot of ways, /lgbt/ seems like the antithesis of tumblr (but not in every sense), and tumblr loves queer, so I was curious what everyone here thought.

People have been called that word when being beaten, raped, and killed - why would anyone want to make a ~kewl identity~ out of that? I especially hate when non-LGBT people use to refer to us as a group as if they couldn't easily use LGBT instead.
I've noticed that most of these self-identified queers are teenagers or young adults and I think their casualness of using it is because of the age gap. They don't really understand their own history and end up using harmful slurs to seem quirky.

People don't tell me I should feel bad. I live in the first U.S state to legalize gay marriage I feel this would be one of the safest places to come out as bi. However, I've seen LGBT culture and I find it disgusting. I don't want to identify with a group of people I personally find perverse and sexually promiscuous. Is it possible that exposure to pornography slowy turned me bisexual? I don't feel like I was born this way. I could never fall in love with a man because when they get older my attraction to them would drop to the point where I would find them repulsive. It has been bothering me all day and it finally hit me: ask for 4chan's ideas!

Okay /lgbt/, please help me understand/process something. I'm a straight guy, and my girlfriend and I just broke up. She says it's because she's reflected and determined that she isn't bisexual, as she thought, but a "biromantic homosexual."
