HRT makes the body hair go away bro. Also makes the razor burn go away once the body hair starts the process of going away. The thickness and strength of the hair is part of what causes ingrown hairs and such things.

I haven't shaved my chest in a long, long time, and I had a hairy chest when I started. Don't sweat it.

This is not bait or trolling, please serious conversation only.

I have been thinking about transsexuals a lot recently and figured this was a good place to get another perspective.

I'm all for personal freedom, aka if your not hurting someone then go for it. My question is should a transsexual desiring conversion surgery be considered a person suffering from an mental disorder?

Mental health is varied and complex. There are a lot of disorders that compel people to make drastic changes to their body. Some feel their limbs don't belong to their body and want to cut them off. Some feel they are missing something (surgery to install horns on the skull, or graft animal parts onto their body). Others feel they need to cut into their brain to get voices out, or they want to live as a doll and have surgery to become a living barbie. All have a reason in their mind that makes perfect sense to them.

In all of these cases the person is considered to be sick and requiring help from society. They are offered therapy to try neutralising the compulsion when it gets to the point of self-mutilation (what else can you call removing your healthy arms and legs) which is not always successful.

I don't think these people deserve to be locked up against their will. But they do deserve to know their suffering an illness whether caused by chemical imbalance or mental trauma and ways to fight against it.

So then we come to being trans. Ignorant people who don't like anything different persecuted trans people. So there was a big push and now the "society morals" say there is nothing wrong with being trans. Not only is it not bad, it's an amazing thing and coming out can get you into a supportive trans community that are willing to help you every step of the way.

I think the big push for trans acceptance to stop (in my opinion, victims of a disorder) people attacking trans went the wrong way from "stop attacking trans people" to "there is nothing wrong with being trans". Put an alcoholic in a society of heavy drinkers and they won't be able to stop killing themselves, most of the time. What would we say if a society supported BIID and taught kids that it was a great thing to cut off your left arm, and saying otherwise made you a bigot?

So in conclusion.
> I think trans should be considered a victim of ab mental disorder like the examples above.
> I think teaching kids not to hate anyone for any reason is good, but not that embracing a disorder is a good thing for your mental health.

TL:DR - If your not gonna read it, then don't offer an opinion on it.
>>

>My question is should a transsexual desiring conversion surgery be considered a person suffering from an mental disorder?
Didn't even read past this. Don't need to.
Yes. It is a mental illness. I say this as a tranny.

Think of it. My body prior to transition was a totally normal male body, in every way. My genes were normal male genes (so far there is no evidence for a "tranny" gene that can be passed down, maybe it's a mutation that happens randomly or something randomly gets fucked up, but it doesn't matter because mental illnesses don't stop being mental illnesses just because they're genetic).

The only part that was for-sure not working the way it would in a normal male was my brain. What's it called when your brain is working differently in such a way that it has a serious negative impact on your life and well-being? A mental illness. Being transgender is having a mental illness. No healthy and normal male wants to be a girl his whole life -THIS BADLY-

That said the only known "cure" which is more of just a way to ease the negative impacts of the symptoms and make it so you can hopefully live relatively comfortably in your own skin, is to pop hormones and maybe get surgeries and try to hopefully live as a girl.

Don't let anyone try to fool you OP. This -is- for sure undeniably a mental illness. Anyone and anything saying otherwise is either pandering to political correctness, not seeing the whole picture, or is delusional.

But I wouldn't go around calling it a mental illness because people will get bugurt and it's not worth the trouble, even though it is undeniably a mental illness. It's too bad people aren't more realistic about this shit. There's nothing wrong with being mentally ill, if someone is mentally ill, it is not their own fault, at least not for something like this. No reason to worry about it, only reason to try to make things better.

Well i've decided i want to take hormones and get feminine. I'm 18 and a bit androgynous already.

However i have many problems going on my life. I'm under Prozac treatment for anxiety and severe depression. It has been 4 months now.

I'm having problems with tests at my university and docummentations. I'll probably soon have a discussion with my parents due to some personal matters.

I feel like it isn't the time to start HRT, but of course i can't wait any longer for it. I'm worried i'll not control myself and end up coming out for someone, or worse, going insane. Is there any risk?

Can i keep controling myself even under Estrogen, AA and Prozac effects? Should i stop Prozac?

Your issues sound like they may be partially relieved by HRT. When I started I had a lot of depression and anxiety too, but finally doing something about the shit feels really made me feel so much better. The start of HRT may be a little bit of an emotional roller coaster, but for most it is mainly dominated massively by positive emotions at finally making this journey and doing something about your body.

I think it will only make you feel better. Imagine getting an ego/confidence/happiness boost every time you look in the mirror. Wouldn't that be nice?
>>
>>6556282
The more i took HRT the more i got dysphoric, the more i became like a girl the more i wanted to be a girl, and it's emotional hell, but perhaps just because i'm an ugly piece of shit. If you're good looking you're good to go, only after FFS i somewhat calmed down, other than that the three years i was on HRT for were an emotional wreck, and that's not even saying much

I wonder if my depression, anxiety and panic are related to dysphoria. I didn't told my psychiatrist about it and now i don't go to him anymore, so i want to self med. It will be better to be cute and beautiful. But what really worries me is losing control of my mind or something like that. I heard many people that go through HRT have constant mood swings and all.

>>6556372
Many told me, specially here, that Prozac is shit. I've been on Lexapro during 4 months, changed to Prozac due to side effects. My mother has been under Prozac effect for the past 15 years and she got a kind of bipolar disorder and extreme mood swings.

However i fear depression and panic attacks, and my anxiety is triggering just by thinking about them. I don't know if i can work without Prozac. Is there any case of trans people that going though Hrt AND Antidepressants?

Hey /lgbt/ I was wondering if I could pass for a femboy persay with out taking any meds (due to my mental health conditions I'm worried I'll regret it in the future) if I just wore kind of semi-feminine clothing could I pull it off? (I'm kinda new to 4chan so sorry if I did anything wrong)

Hey OP again here i was wondering if any of you know where I can get clothes like that any places online? Thanks again!
>>
>>6555934
With HRT you would tottally pass as a girl depending on your body, your eyes are really nice.

You can improve your appearance without meds though. Idk, maybe a new haircut? Also draw the attention away from your nose.

I'm a trans girl, just turned 19. I have no hope of looking like a regular girl no matter how long I stay on hrt, I'll always be some sort of in-between thing. Some people are cool with getting married, having a wife and kids, then decide that they're a woman when they're 50 or something. I'm not one of those people, I need to be a regular girl but it's an impossibility.

Sometimes I imagine having friends that love being with me for who I am inside, coming to terms with myself, and having a boyfriend. But it's impossible, especially the not being single for the rest of my life part, because I'm forced to detest myself.

My mental and physical health is deteriorating every day.

I don't understand why I had to be forced into an existence full of pain and misery.

I hope there is something like reincarnation in the thereafter, but even if there's just nothingness, I see it as an inevitability. Someone please just tell me it'll be ok

It's not ok to give up but I'd be lying if I said I didn't understand you, as another depressive-suicidal trans girl.

I absolutely hate the phrase "cheer up" but that is the main reason depressed people tend to not have friends. Being friends with someone is an exchange, you both trade in each other's company. If one of you is depressed and only wants to cry or mope then the other partner doesn't have any enjoyment and has to force himself/herself to spend time with the depressed person. Which typically works for a while but it is guaranteed to cause a split sooner or later.

That said, I fully understand how difficult it can be to find friends if you're weird and/or ugly with long hair or such so I'd suggest just focus on the internet. It's not a real replacement for real friendships and, 99 times out of a hundred, people online aren't your real friends but they are real people and it is real human interaction, something I think would do you well. Oh, and probably lay off 4chan. This place can be atrocious if you're in fragile state of mind.

Ultimately it is up to you. You have to believe that your life is worth something and that you can be something. Focusing on something is probably the best idea since it's both productive and it takes your mind off of depressing thoughts. So try learning something and then doing it. The trans girl stereotype is computer science and it works - there are million resources for it online and all you really need is a computer and free time.

Also, as weird as this sounds, I think you (and me, really) need some entitlement. Entitlement is usually a bad thing but it's also what allows people to exist in a world where thousands of people starve to death every hour or millions drink unclean water or, closer to home, what unpassing trans girl use to still continue living their life. It is your life, it is your existence, even if you're not passing try doing your best and then at least no one can accuse of you not trying..

Help me out? I was always one of those guys who thought that they would never go out with a transgender girl. However, about 3 months ago I met a trans girl that really grabbed my heart. I asked her out and we've been dating since. The problem is that I've only ever had sex with a vagina. Therefore, I'm a bit nervous about having sex with her. Last week we were getting hot and heavy and I made some silly excuse to leave because I didn't think i was ready to go all the way yet.
How do I explain my feelings to her without sounding like a jerk?

I've always just split unless they're really insistent on paying. I always make sure to ask though so guys don't assume I'm just leading them on if I decide to not continue seeing them. Usually they always seem to insist on paying then expect sex and get all upset when I just walk away to my car. Not my problem most guys are turbocucks lol
