I posted this on /adv/ but they said I should come here.
So, I live in Australia. I'm 18 years old, turning 19 in January.
I have dreams and aspirations and want to go to uni.
The problem is I'm transgender and I desperately desire to be a girl. I think you can see where this is going.
Yes, I don't pass. My face is completely non-passing. This is having a huge impact on my quality of life.
Hormones can only do so much and I believe they've done all they can.
I need facial feminisation surgery if I want to really be happy and not die every waking moment.
What's the best way to go about this? I'm completely unable to find work because of my odd appearance and breasts coming out and uni is out of the question because I can't see myself going on like this for 4 years, let alone a few more months.
What are my options to get my face fixed? It's looking hopeless and I'm thinking I should just end it. I'm a drain on society right now and I don't think I'm worth the 10k it'd take to fix my face and make me happy.
Also, I know it'll be said so I'll cover it here.
No, I can't just get over it and be a normal duder. Mental disorders don't work like that and as far as I know and from what my psychiatrist told me, there's nothing that really treats the core issue. My best option is transitioning and it fucking sucks.
So to sum it up, what are my options for getting this done? I know some private health insurance in America will cover the costs of FFS but as far as I know, there's not a single health insurer here in Australia who offers anything relating to my mental disorder.

/lgbt/, today my mom gave me an angry rant about how she's not ready to have a homosexual daughter; about how painful it was for her to watch my girlfriend and I the two weeks she visited (we did nothing more intimate than holding hands); about how hard it was when my little brothers asked what was up (with my girlfriend and I).
I have the option of noping the fuck out. My girlfriend and I have enough money saved up for us to fly me over to her and for me to sustain myself until all the paperwork allowing me to get job has gone through.
But I'm fucking scared. I don't want to be that person that throws their brilliant future away on a whim. My parents are currently paying for my higher education, so I have a lot to lose by leaving.
On the other hand though, depending on them is fucking suffocating. They try to act like they're tolerant and progressive because it's the socially acceptable thing to do, but they're bigoted pieces of shit at the end of the day.
Is it worth it, /lgbt/? I'm tired of suffering over this. I need to decide.

Sit them down and give them the hard dick about how fucked up they're being. Tell them exactly how it feels to be pressured on who to love and how to live your life by their prejudice while under their thumb to fund your future.
Bring up the rant and confront them with it head on.
