SAAB has presented a purpose built aggressor variant of the Gripen C, mainly aimed at the US and UK.
Is there any chance that the US buys foreign aircraft, even of it's only for aggressor purposes?
It would probably have some benefit over current US made aggressor aircraft as those are either old and bordering obsolete or modern but very familiar in both shape and performance to US pilots.
>>
>>35193008
No. The US already regularly trains with airforces that have Russian, French and British planes. There's no benefit in creating a logistics train just for a few planes.

That would probably sort under "old and bordering obsolete".
It is in essence a Mirage 5 with bells on and devious kikery in the marketing department.

It's possible, but not likely - the USAF is looking at replacing its aggressor fleet, but they're expected to just start selling things like F-16s to private contractors, who'll then handle the cost of maintenance, etc themselves:
aviationweek.com/afa-national-convention/stealth-era-red-air-struggles-fight-back

If it makes financial sense, those private contractors could very well buy some aggressor Gripen Cs to meet the "Capability C" aggressor aircraft requirement.
>>
>>35193025

What is the Harrier you stupid asshole?
>>
>>35193228
>USAF outsources aggressor training to private contractors
>contractors buy all kind of planes, new and old, west and east
>fierce competition for aggressor contracts, contractors stage mock battles to prove who's best
>mock battles turn hot
>threeway battles where eurotrash, slavshit and burgerjunk battle each other to the death over those sweet defense fundings
Trump will make Ace Combat real.

Would be a great purchase for us here in the UK, a cheaper 4.5th gen for red air for better opposition.

Especially given the UK already operates one Gripen for the Empire Test Pilot School too, and already makes like 30% of the components in them anyway, so it'll serve the UK industry well as well.
>>
>>35193507
>Would be a great purchase for us here in the UK

Don't the RAF use the USAF's F-15s based at Lakenheath for DACT when it's needed?

Gripen is not that great a purchase when you can otherwise do it for free
>>
>>35193526
I was thinking the same thing, the RAF is in a pretty great position for potential training opponents, when you can call up the USAF or pretty much anyone in europe to go fly against a variety of aircraft there seems little point buying a handful of one type to fulfill that role less effectively internally.

What SAAB offers is a plane decked out with EW and countermeasures suites up the ass and being able to specifically tailor the abilities of the red side is extremely important. Nobody wants to fly their own aircraft with all warswitches engaged, whereas this is meant to do just that.

Yes but it has to be made in the USA, by law any equipment used by the US military has to be manufactured in the US it can be a foreign design but has to be made here.

He might be thinking of when everything was sold by the RN when they retired the Harrier, but that was basically just a bargain bulk parts purchase for the USMC for a aircraft they already had, rather than a new system purchase.
>>
>>35193507

We don't need a neutered Gripen variant when we have more capable Typhoons, Hawks, and various allied aircraft that are already performing the role just fine.
>>
>>35193984
>by law any equipment used by the US military has to be manufactured in the US

Not even close to being true. The only place where there is a law for this is clothing, and even then US boots were made in China.

>Typhoon, Hawk or allies
None of those aircraft will be able to use full EW, either on account of being too old or its EW suite being classified.
What the Gripen Aggressor offers is a plane with high performance and loaded with tons of EW that can be programmed to simulate contemporary adversaries.
>>
>>35193099
If the kikes decided to get into selling seawater, they have enough lobbying pull to get the US government to buy.
>>
>>35194787

I don't think you quite understand the role they're being offered for.
>>
>>35196257

Except we have various locations where we can use the full EM suite, and even in areas where we don't there will be training modes for both parties to simulate the effect without emitting anything secret.

>>35196307
I am completely confident that I know what role an aggressor aircraft takes.
>>
>>35196379
>Except we have various locations where we can use the full EM suite
Yes but only your own, frogs and yanks would not be so keen on flipping all the fun switches.
Dissimilar aggressor training is a thing, you only get so much from training against a plane you are already intimately familiar with.
Besides, the UK already owns a Gripen so they can't be all that bad.
>>
>>35196879
>the UK already owns a Gripen
The UK doesn't own any Gripens.
The ETPS painted aircraft was owned by Saab and the Swedish Air Force and operated by a private company: Qinetiq
The ETPS syllabus on Gripen now operates out of Linkoping AB in Sweden
