He's the same as he's always been, he's just a forgetful goofball sometimes and the long takes John does doesn't hide it. He occasionally forgets his ear pro, and almost always ejects a live round on shotgun videos. He ends up repeating himself because he doesn't have much of a script to go on and there's only so much you can say about guns you've had on the show before or are new production. If he doesn't have anecdotes about the gun he normally just repeats a talking point about it because there isn't much to say. Don't expect colion noirs over written drivel when watching Hickok.

He's always been a little bit forgetful, has always had moments where he forgot how to field strip a gun, and has always repeated himself a few times per video. Getting old is about those moments becoming more and more frequent. Eventually, they become the norm and he will start making videos that he's already made before, thinking it's the first time he's done that video.

It's been happening to my grandfather for the past 5 or so years - at least, that's when it became too obvious for him to hide. It started out with him asking me what year I was in high school. Even then it was painful to watch his reaction as I told him I was 28 at the time. These days, the grandkids (we're all in our late 20s and early 30s now) have to introduce ourselves to him because his vision is failing him, and he probably wouldn't recognize us even if he could see. He has memories of when we were little and he knows who we are, but doesn't remember us as adults.
