They are only used for short range shots. It is faster to rotate your rifle 45 degrees then turning the magnification down between 200-300 yard shots and the close in stuff

I know what your thinking. This ONLY applies when the optic thag is zeroed for being level, is canted a little. If the sights are zeroed for 45degs being "level" you won't run into that problem.

The offset sight still parallel enough to the barrel to get a proper zero.
Zero both the scope and the irons, you won't have a problem.
