We've had some rather interesting conflicts these last 10 years...
Israel-Hezbollah
Russia-Georgia
Ukraine Conflict
Syrian Civil War
etc.
And because of modern technology, a wealth of information is available about some of them, including high quality video.
What have these conflicts taught us about warfighting and weapons?
>>
We learned that nothing can be solved with a war anymore unless you have way more resources and manpower than the enemy.
Even then there is a danger from gorillas.
Gorillas are best fought with another set of gorillas, 5 to 10 men teams roaming the gorilla turf, gorilling the gorillas.
There is no real defense against a superior airforce yet.
Also, ancient slavshit never dies

this guy pretty much wrote the book that everyone works from, to varied degrees of success
at least, in what concerns conflicts between armies, such as Ukraine and Georgia and Israel

Artillery is still king, tanks are still shit if crewed by subhumans, airburst grenades are fucking scary, artillery kills tanks even with ordinary shells, give a subhuman an ATGM and he will waste it on a single infantryman.

Drone supremacy will become another crucial objective to achieve.

>Even then there is a danger from gorillas.
what is it about gorillas that makes them so damn invincible in wars?
>>
>>35183739
>artillery kills tanks even with ordinary shells
nuh uh, low velocity rounds regardless of caliber can't kill a tank, even if I as a trained Forwad Observer say they can, armchair generals of /k/ all agree that they can't
>>
>>35184564
>he hasn't read the "arty sucks less than expected" papers in Armor magazine circa late 80s/mid 90s

155s may not k-kill tanks but they will certainly fuck them up. check the STANAG armor ratings - within 20-30m, the longitudinal frag from a 155 has penetration comparable to autocannon.

>>35183817
Drones are great for spotting for arty, and for ISR, and anything really...but the takeaway from Ukraine and anti-ISIS campaigns is that military grade EW rapes civilian or older military [Raven...] drones.

nothing new really $$ and economic power still wins wars. wars still only happen and keep on going when it's in the interest of world powers.

they eat their own shit.
that means they need a lot less in ways of supply.

which part of "trained Forward Observer" did you not understand? I was making fun of all of the retards who keep telling me that artillery can't wreck tanks.

1: the Jews really did do it
2:they will continue to do it
3:insurgency is super effective vs conventional force.
(US spends about $3000 fighting every 1 (one) insurgent dollar)
4:collateral damage is an outdated notion
5:Israel failed miserably in 2006. as big of a shock as the 7 day war was in their favour 06 was as big a shock the other way.
6:Germany could have won if Hitler wasn't such an aspie
7:the driver shot Kennedy
8:there's gonna be a second US civil war if the current political divide continues
9:chain of command above captain (or equivalent) isn't as important as below in urban theatre
10:/pol/ was a mistake

>ATGM's are much more common and much more effective than given credit for, so the role of APS will ever increase
>trenches and semi-permanent emplacements are still extremely relevant
>when two forces have parity, it's still a meat grinder
>when air power isn't at play or is minimized in effectiveness it evens the odds
>when air power is at play, it's well worth the expense and logistics necessary to support it
>you still can't beat accurate fire support
>cheap short to medium ranges drones fucking everywhere
>tunnels and bunkers are more necessary in trenches than ever before due to the high density of recon assets like drones

Tanks are obsolete
>>
That trying to make warfare cleaner and limits on troop deployments don't work and just result in prolonged conflicts and more suffering than necessary.
Killing other humans in order to alter the laws and governance of their land has always been the most savage, brutal, and demanding of tasks. Trying to make it less than that is nothing but the epitome of hubris.

1. Hearts and minds can't be won
2. Exterminatus is a valid tactic
>>
>>35183531
It is best to not send your guys. You can, instead, just use propaganda and money to motivate local people to fight with you. Give them free weapons, claim you are not involved, get an active role in the peace processus.

Am i the only one who feel like the Amazon delivery drones will become the new artillery?

why are insurgents falling over each other to use even shitty, outdated tanks then?

Don't lie, you like those video's of groups of SAA soldiers chilling out as a TOW or Konkurs meanders towards them.

-Each bombed village creates 100 "freedom fighters"
-you can't kill someone's relatives and then win their heart and mind
-war is won with culture and a coca cola or a Pepsi tossed to a brown kid might just be the bait needed

SVBIED's and modified walmart drones are pretty fucking dangerous
>>
>>35183739
>give a subhuman an ATGM and he will waste it on a single infantryman.
To be fair, I'm pretty sure US soldiers do this kind of stuff too. And if ATGMs are plentiful, why not? The rightness of the tactic depends on the context. In lots of these modern wars it seems to me that, even when lots of troops are involved, the casualty counts are relatively low compared to WW2-style conflict. If you can use an ATGM to take out one of the enemy's few competent soldiers, you might be able to break the morale of the 90% who are just conscripts. Or, if you're fighting a US or Israel type foe that's used to winning at little cost in life, every casualty you inflict on them applies a relatively high level of political pressure.

>Israel-Hezbollah
Hezbollah is well trained and have their home turf well set up against foreign invaders
>Russia-Georgia
Nothing...
>Ukraine Conflict
Civilian vehicles can provide supply lines and transport as long as there are paved roads.
>Syrian Civil War
Civilian drones can be easily modified to conduct military actions. They are cost effective and easy to fly.
>>
>>35183531
Post-WWII norms regarding the treatment of civilian populations are unrealistic, and wars cannot be won by targeting military targets alone.

ISIS was able to achieve more during its initial invasion of Iraq with a few months of atrocities than we achieved in a decade of counter-insurgency and nation building.
