pound for pound, assuming it's just infantry vs. infantry, it will be close, but I have a feeling Canucks will still win if the AO is Boreal Forest as the OP stated. Add the fact that Canadian soldiers are trained with greater variety of tasks, they will be able to pull off maneuvers that the Burgers haven't trained for. The way I understand it, if an American is trained as a light infantry rifleman, that's pretty much all they do. They might do some recon if they isn't anyone else that can do it, but generally they stick to one thing. Canadian soldiers may not be trained as well in any particular role, but they receive training in many more practical areas and are more of a "jack of all trades" kind of army (considering they are a lot smaller, this is actually a good idea).
If the fight happens in South Carolina, definitely Americans, but I'm gonna give it to Canadians if it's in the Boreal Forest.

We get the "same" training but a lot of it is condensed so that people with civilian jobs can work it into their schedules. Meaning, we have full-time summer courses but we also have weekend winter courses, for BMQ. BMQ-L (infantry training for basically everyone) is summer course I believe. Trades training is over the course of a summer or two.
My time has been good as I only enrolled recently, but the work they do is cool. The environment is relatively calm provided you don't fuck up,

IIRC there is a file somewhere which identifies the time spent on training different segments for reservists v regular, reservists are essentially all battlecraft (shooting) and similar practical, regular has a lot more to do with a lot more time dedicated to things reservists spend 1 or 2 "days" on (bedding, uniform variations, etc.). That's the big difference.
And some guys said BMQ PT was basically just running and pushups.

I seem to remember reading Canadian training was longer, but US troops are part of a more active and better funded military, meaning more to exercises and deployments. I think you'd probably find a bigger difference between the best and worst in each military than between the average troops in each.

Depends on what you mean by "better trained".

The main thing to understand is that Canada's military is much smaller and is far less active in terms of raw manpower on deployment; this means the armed forces can be more selective about who becomes a full-time soldier (at least for regulars). In addition, the smaller size of the army means that most soldiers are trained in a wider variety of tasks and duties. So yes, Canadians are "better trained" in the sense they need to spend more time on training in multiple areas, but this is a need borne out of necessity.
