Recruiter told me I have to take the TAPAS next week, I'm the introverted type of person who's mind has been a bit desensitized after 10 years on the internet, I'm going to have to lie pretty hard to pass this test from what I've seen.
>>

Maybe the memes were right. Maybe I AM autistic.
>>
>>35168471
I was told that the choices for each question would be equally bad, and I'd have to determine which was the less bad, everything I've read about the test makes it look retarded.

>>

the test is stupid

theres a list of phrases like

"I like being a leader"

"im a hard worker"

"I try not to be a leader unless I have to be "

and so on, and each question makes you choose between two phrases. to choose which is most like you even if both are not like you at all.

all you have to do is not pick the phrases that are obviously wrong

IE "Ive gotten so angry Ive hit someone before" or " I get angry at people because they deserve it "

This is gunna sound kinda stupid, but I want to join the army, but the thought of having to kill someone makes me sick to my stomach. I have no issue with shooting guns, getting shot at and all, but the thought of me taking a life would really bother me.

Is there something I can do in the army that would brighten someone's day, and possibly take the edge off their stress? I'm thinking about being a cook or something. I know I sound like a bitch, but the idea of knowing I cheered someone up is far more appealing to me than anything else. Especially our service members.

I wouldn't know for sure, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesn't seem like many people in the airforce "don't have it bad." Like I mean, combat is horrible and takes its toll on people phically and mentally. I want to be able to help them in someway.

If you're intelligent, the military will frustrate you. You obviously value your time with the ladies, so just cut out the BS of actually being in the military and move next to a military base.
Fuck all the GFs and wives while the dudes are deployed. The best part is, since you're not in the military, you can't get in trouble for it.

If you actually join the military, you will face any combination of:

>shit work

If you really are fit and intelligent, you can have a successful career... depending on how hard you're willing to play the "game".

If your going officer try coast guard or navy, if you go to Air Force they already have plenty of - fit enough, semi attractive, overschooled, cucky shits who are too good at the game and u will just be getting fucked over and fucking people over for no reason for the rest of your life trying to climb the ladder of entitled whiny blue falcon cunts.

Army and marines are probably beneath you, navy is a good middle ground and coast guard is in between navy/Air Force cuz too many people decide to stay in the coast guard forever.

Both. You tag along with other SOF as well as running purely Special Tactics missions, so you have to firefight for real and do your job in fire fights when attached to anything from Rangers to CAG.

What should I expect from Army OCS as far as the difficulty level goes?
>>
>>35171243
Oki doesn't have any permanent infantry outside of the recon battalion. Hawaii has an entire infantry regiment, but also a lot of air.

Infantry in general go to a lot of places. But there really aren't just grunt dedicated bases, 29 palms has a whole infantry regiment, but they also have a bunch of POG units to support the grunts there. Plus you have to remember that there is always going to be a company of POGs in every infantry battalion. On top of that, some of the shittiest, smallest bases to be stationed at, like Barstow or Bridgeport, are staffed entirely by POGs.

Ultimately there isn't any garuntee of any base. At MOS school you can state your duty station preference but monitors tend to not give a fuck. I requested overseas and got 29 palms, while a marine in my same class requested West coast and got overseas. The Marine corps does have a large percentage of it's forces permanently stationed overseas due to it's entirety of III MEF being spread out between Okinawa, Hawaii, and in the future Guam and Australia.

So if I reserve a job with my recruiter and the same job pops up with option 4 at MEPS, can I take it or am I locked in?
>>
>>35174765
You're locked in. You would have to back out of your current contract and do a new one with op4. In reality, your recruiter will not help you do that.
>>
>>35172164
This guy didn't even shine his shoes.
>>
>>35174744
It generally takes 2 months from the moment you arrive at Lackland until you get on the bus to go to your tech school.

Assuming you arrive Nov 1, you won't be done until Jan 1, so you won't take part in "exodus", which is where tech school stops for 2 weeks and everyone goes home. So training will continue like normal for you, but you might get the chance to make an extra phone call on Christmas day.

General BMT tips:
>When details are being assigned, don't volunteer
>Don't become an element leader
>Don't do dumb shit that will get you recycled (they'll tell you what that stuff is)
>Don't go tell the TIs you're gonna kill yourself. The fastest way out is to graduate.
>Do volunteer for kitchen duty
>You will get called out at some point, but as long as you correct yourself and keep from making an ass of yourself, it won't matter
>Shoot well and get that cool marksman ribbon
>Despite what anyone tells you, NOTHING (within reason) you do in BMT matters. Nobody cares if you were dorm chief, nobody cares that you got 25 341s pulled, nobody cares. Just make it through without getting in actual trouble.
>>
>>35174989

>>
>>35174908
Exactly what is stuff like Option 40 and Option 4. I've heard of these but are there any others?
>>
>>35175812

>Option 4

You will go to Airborne school after job training.

>Option 40

You will go to Airborne school after job training, and then RASP.

There are other option codes, but for all practical purposes these are the only two anyone will care about. The others are for things literally everyone gets (like choice of job) or very niche cases (like OCS).
>>

Should ask if there are any who don't...
They get thrown on to navy ships.
Their MOS goes out the window because all they do is move stuff back and forth.
They don't work enough hours to even stay busy (compared to any other branch).
So they all become alcoholics and smoke 6 packs a day.
They do the things that the navy deems too remedial for their e1 sailors until they are e5.
Basically get the work experience of being a UPS warehouse worker.

The Marine Corps really is fascinating. Its entire lineage is "WE'RE TOUGH!," and bills itself as this elite unit where only the best of the best need apply, and yet they have over 280,000 Marines under their belt at this very moment.

They're a branch where you willingly have to fuck yourself over to prove how tough you are. Joining the Marines is the equivalent of tanking your credit score on purpose because it makes buying a car and finding a place to live more difficult than it should be, all to prove how much of a "man" you are. It's a great branch for people who are tougher than average and also dumber than average. You're willingly imposing limits upon yourself -- job selection is out of your control, it's largely oriented towards combat jobs, and promotions are slow -- yet they're able to sucker so many people in because of their snazzy uniforms and the title of being called a Marine. The funniest part is that people know almost all of this going in... AND THEY STILL DO IT! It works for them every single fucking time.I would almost encourage the public to keep hugging the nuts of the Marine Corps as much as they do. They can act as a sort of competency test to determine where to allocate the retards who don't know any better.
>>
>>35178911

I received a letter from an actual medical officer stating why he can't let me in for reasons x & y rather than the previous automated letter with one issue less on it. I decided to try another appeal. Went to gp's to get material. He tells me that he's seen people have a go before and i'm bashing my head against a brick wall. And refused to book me in for some tests to see if i'm sound nowdays. (Currenntly 21)

Being taken advantage of can happen in the military as well. My first unit was filled with toxic leadership and criminals (this was during the Iraq surge era). I have a good work ethic so I kept getting put on all the work details just to make sure they got done.

I pinned myself with no ceremony each time I got promoted. No awards for going above and beyond. Not a single coin after three years. I asked to go to different army schools and was denied each time. I listened to what others told me about other units. It took a leap of faith to get me to reenlist. I hoped it would get better and it did, thankfully. Two years after going to another unit, I got promoted twice and went to four different Army schools.

Dude, I use to work in an S2 and submit SF86s. Getting fired is not a determining factor for getting denied. It depends on what happened. they just need it for a job history, date completed would be the date you actually leave, you gave 2 weeks notice so you still are there for 2 weeks, if you quit before you join that isn't so much of a problem, if it is a problem, they will kick it back and say why is this not your employer? and you will say "cus i quit" and then they will say OK and amend information as needed

Asperges falls under the category ASD;Autistic Spectrum Disorder (Nothing to do with Captain Scarlet sadly.)
It's basically Autistm, but to a lesser extent, ASD does cover a massive range of issues people can have however, ranging from OCD to ADHD.
Personally however i've had the misfortune of being a screeching autist throughout highschool, being diagnosed with ASD then somewhat growing out of it. There is no set binary requirement to meet to be diagnosed. It's basically does patient under question match the following criteria which can basically just be habits or coincidences that can be spurred on by growing up in certain enviroments. Then the "professional" running the examination makes a decision. What makes it worse if once you are diagnosed, there is no cure. Only a lable that's stuck to your national medical record for life with no way to remove it.

I know it's not a 100% given, but how often does ROTC pay for your college? Either by scholarships, tuition assistance, etc.
>>
>>35191049
I was in ROTC about 8 years ago so some things might have changed, but when I was a cadet I was given a choice between paying for room and board or tuition assistance. I chose room & board because it was more than my tuition. I was also given a monthly cadet stipend that ranged from 300-500 a month. I was also given a semester book stipend for $800, anything you didn't spend you could pocket.

Keep in mind this money was only available for contracted cadets.

I dabbled in ROTC this past year, and it's the same deal nowdays.

Scholarships are unsurprisingly quite competitive, however there are 2-4 year scholarships depending on when someone decided to join ROTC. That means the competition is slightly spread out since you don't have freshman with 4 year contracts competing with juniors for two year contracts.

Are people in the military allowed to post pics of themselves in uniform on dating sites?
>>
>>35193897

The nuances of wearing your uniform depend on the branch. The official answer would be along the lines of "as long as you aren't bringing discredit upon the uniform". There's tons of times when the military is totally cool with social media posts in uniform.

The realistic answer is that most chains of command would tell the servicemember to cut that shit out if they're using uniform pics on tindr and whatnot, but there's not going to be any official reprimand unless it's some sort of really heinous offense.

For clearances they will speak to your doctor and yes, they will find out which doctors you have seen. You can't really get out of that, unless you did it abroad.

For everything else it's a non issue, but as always think about why they have medical requirements and what could happen if you dodge them.

Thanks, that's great to hear.
>>
>>35195010

You do waive HIPAA.

>They can't

is a very different statement from

>They won't

They absolutely can go hunting for medical records, but they really have no reason to. Your medical history is of little concern to a clearance investigation unless you're lying about it.

People like to pretend it's hard to dig up medical records but it really isn't. Just talk to the family of the person being investigated, ask what doctors they saw as children, then go talk to those doctors with the correct paperwork in-hand.

Are you at a greater risk of dying in SOF? Obviously you're sent into more dangerous operations, but does the extra training you receive help to counteract your chances of buying the farm?
>>
>>35196541
it completely doesnt matter. You almost never wear them and its a bitch when you do. Caring about uniforms is a complete meme that only a non serve would care about.
>>
>>35194684
Is combat veteran guy an actual combat veteran?
>>
>>35196565

SOF are more likely to see dangerous situations and therefore more likely to be harmed. You have to remember that 90%+ of the military is never even in danger beyond a training accident.
>>
>>35194648
Depends on where you want to go and what you'd like out of a deployment.

There's only a couple sub bases, 3 on the east coast, 2 on the west coast, then Hawaii and Guam.
>>
>>35196541
You will literally never wear them outside of formal occasions.

Did you think we actually still wear that shit on deployments?
>>
>>35196631
Are you likely to die as a SOF helo pilot?
>>
>>35196714

Absolutely not. Nobody in the US military, even in the most difficult and dangerous assignments, is *likely* to die. They just might be *more likely* to die than another job.
>>
Has anyone tried to enlist with a friend in the army? How was it?
>>
>>35196747
>Nobody in the US military, even in the most difficult and dangerous assignments, is *likely* to die. They just might be *more likely* to die than another job.
Are deaths not common in combat or something? Or are there just so many noncombat jobs that it doesn't really effect people?
>>
>>35197855

Combat itself is extremely rare, injury is even rarer, and survival rates are very good with modern medicine if you are injured. The US pours millions of dollars and lots of human labor into ensuring whenever there actually *is* combat, it's nothing even resembling a fair fight.

Your average US military servicemember is more likely to die in a car accident on the way to their office job than they are to die in combat.

I don't know the minimum for ASVAB but that's easily something you can fucking google.
>>
>>35198926
You can't hide criminal history (even as a minor, even if it was expunged, even if it was dumb) so just put it on your application, hope for the best, be honest if they ask about it, then repeat for your SF86 and just tell them what happened. If you come clean you do have a shot of getting in, but they'll instantly catch a lie and DQ you because they can see expunged records from a minor
