I know sometimes there are issues on rifles where this does not occur. I'm guessing its a gas issue?

>I like that rifle less since you added rear BUIS
I always found it amusing the vein popping that only having the 99051 out front caused.

>>27801086
It is certainly a case of diminishing returns after a certain point. The high dollar rails usually have some design feature or usage history that sets them apart, but that feature or heritage may not be worth the extra cost to everyone.

I like the KAC FF RAS honestly because of their use in service rifles. My interest in the DD RIS stems from the same aesthetic appreciation.

There are cheaper rails than the KAC that are lighter, have better mounting systems, and offer more integrated features (like QD sockets), but they don't have the pedigree I enjoy.
>>
>>27801003
Given how retarded the BAFTE is and the sig brace and shockwave situation.

Does it almost seem like someone just design a full blown stock and say to the ATF it is designed to be used a certain way? I wonder if they could get by with adjustable stocks and just claim that it because people have varying lengths/sizes of forearms?
>>
>>27801079
That is what I'm trying to avoid.

Is anyone aware of any good literature that goes into this?
>>
>>27801113
>indestructibility

So is a DD superior to others in the same price range? I would imagine after a certain dollar amount they are basically the same as far as their strength.
>>
>>27801201
What I've seen online is basically just use trial and error. As long as your barrel/gas port/gas system aren't hilariously shit, you can usually just replace your buffer with a lighter one if you have problems with BHO.
>>
>like the KAC URX
>want a KAC URX
>too basic for the gucci price tag and expensive wrench I need for it

Is there another rail out there that looks similar?
>>
>>27801003
Why did you not paint the upper? Why will you not answer this question?
>>
>>27801196
With the cost of a shockwave (~$50) or a sig brace (~$80), the cost of an adjustable unit would drive you ever closer to the price of just getting your stamp.

I have a sig brace that my friends and I share while waiting on F1s. Outside of non-SBR states this seems like the best usage to me. For just a single rifle, skip the brace and just file for a stamp.
>>
>>27801196
Im still waiting for someone to design a longer buffer tube (between carbine and rifle) with a slightly wider end with a dumb explanation.

No way they'll consider said buffer tube as a stock right?
>>

>>
>>27801238
Don't stamps mean you have to notify the ATF anytime you move across state lines? I'd imagine a lot of people don't wan't to deal with all the bs/paperwork associated with SBRs.

I'm buying parts for my upper and I'm wanting a 7075 handguard. The only names I've seen so far is either Mega Arms or Hodge Defense. Does anyone know of others?

>>27801251
you have to notify any time you want to take it across state lines and not just with moving. It is relatively simple with just a 5320.20.

http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?302233-ATF-5320-20-Form-Transport-NFA-items-Interstate-Tips-to-complete-Form
>>
>>27801251
In a hurry, just slap a 16" upper on it and you can move across state lines with it in Title 1 configuration without any hassle. If it is a permanent move on short notice, just do that and file your 5320.20 and slap your short upper back on once you get it back.

Another option is perm attaching a sealed suppressor to a short barrel to meet 1" OAL. You don't need permission to transport a suppressor, and your rifle that is effectively a suppressed SBR is just a Title 1 firearm.
>>
>>27801133
Depends on the kind of shooting you want to do.
There's nothing objectively wrong with a thread protector.
>>
>>27801279
Can't you technically transport the lower and upper in separate cases then?
>>
>>27801279
I didn't know you don't need permission for suppressor transport. Maybe I'll look into getting a can once that Hearing Safety bill gets rejected.
>>
>>27801292
SBR lower + SBR upper = SBR
SBR lower + Rifle upper = not SBR
SBR lower + no upper = SBR
>>
>>27801292
It's still an SBR as long as the upper is under your control.

Alternatively, how can I enhance the fireball coming out of my muzzle without significantly increasing noise? I've seen the Degroat flash enhancer vids but they aren't very impressive and the device itself is ugly as sin.
>>
>>27801331
It's not like it matters unless you get pulled over by the ATF with the SBR in your back seat.
>>
>>27801348
>how can I enhance the huge burning explosion without making it louder

>>27801355

I don't know how often you work on your gas tube or gas block, but the main advantage dd has over other quad rails is that you can remove the rail relatively painlessly, without having to fuck around with the barrel nut.

That, or you really are ocd and like to oil the outside of your barrel.

Even worse would be the collection of cast off parts that coalesced into a rifle, currently minus a barrel as that's the flattops barrel and it's waiting for a threaded H-Bar barrel to show up.
I will be the first to admit this thing is ungainly as hell and an absolute antique compared to any modern rifle but the little kid me that fell in love with the Delta Elite H-Bar in the early 90's had to have something like it.

Pictured next to the Vomit Stick, the result of buying a damaged and incomplete Bushmaster Bushmaster Assault Rifle and raiding the parts bin.

The C79 feels like a box full of lead but the bastard is durable, mine has been knocked around and doesn't show any evidence of it. Mine even came from a batch slated for disposal in the mid 90's that the buyer resold instead so mine was abused long before I got it.

They have pretty piss poor eye relief but damn good glass, if it's the true C79 with the T-reticle I'd jump all over it. Just remember if the tritium is dead Elcan will keep them if you send it up to Syrupland.

I know it's heavy but it's a range toy anyways so it doesn't matter too much.

Anyone here familiar with Surefire's more obscure stuff?

If I understand it correctly, I can take the KM1-A or B head off a V1 Vampire light and put it on a M300 to make an M300V out of it?
Also, what the fuck is the difference between KM1-A and KM1-B? The 100 mW vs. 110 mW IR output?

I'm asking because the V1 Vampire often ends up costing *less* than the spare KM1 head.

Perpare fo number one clear answer.

Firstly most often bho failure are due to bcg not cycling fully. That is often due to insufficient gassed or wrong bufferweight/buffer spring rate combo as in too heavy and strong for the rifle.

Second most common reason is debris build up in spring channel or bolt stop channel inside receiver or worn/faulty bho spring. The magazine spring can be worn to point it cannont over come bho spring tension to move it up to stop the bolt.

Third is aftermarket part add on such as BAD lever causing problems.

The NFA has been in place since 1934, that is 81 years. Could that change in our lifetime? That is certainly a possibility.

I think its quite clear that having paid my dues I have more rights with my weapons than you do. It is just about money. Are you doing anything to actually repeal the NFA other than whining on the internet?

Do you encourage brace owners to take the $100-$150 they saved on a stamp to donate those funds to the NFAFA or the Heller Foundation? Have you made any donations? I have. I spent the money, not only on myself for my stamps, but in the hope that you and everyone else will no longer have to in the future.

If you want to use tools though, use a small bubble level on the receiver then on the elevation turret, have the rifle slightly canted so you can line up the edge of the bubble with the marks. This will make sure you are consistent on the measurements.

1) That particular laser device looks like it would be blocked by having the sight in front, unlike a PEQ or something that's designed to work around a FSB

FOV of the optic is over the top of the CQBL, the laser being forward on the handguard means it will not be occluded by his hand/fingers when grasping the handguard, and the controls are easily reached.

The M&P15 Sport doesn't have a FA, but you can build a full-featured PSA build for around the same price or a little less nowadays, so there's no real reason to go with the Sport. Especially since they stopped putting the nice melonited barrels in them.

>The AR-15 was first built in 1959 by ArmaLite as a small arms rifle for the United States armed forces. Because of financial problems, ArmaLite sold the design to Colt. After some modifications, the redesigned rifle was adopted as the M16 rifle. In 1963, Colt started selling the semi-automatic version of the rifle for civilians as the Colt AR-15. Although the name "AR-15" remains a Colt registered trademark, variants of the firearm are made, modified, and sold under various names by multiple manufacturers.

Yeah, I know, but I'm kind of worried they made the head non-removable like QB says.
They don't list the V1 anymore, but the archive Google page shows that they had the "non-removable heads" warning under the product description.
