I think you're getting mixed up with the idea that the defence COULD argue that you fought back but CPS lawyers generally put together a shitty case on purpose for the defence if they're clearly I'm the wrong.

I was stabbed but managed to wrestle the knife away from him and stamp on his head and chest a little (read: quite a lot of times) and the cheeky cunt even tried to counterclaim me that I was the more violent one in the encounter so he deserved money.

His court appointed brief presented the most hilariously ropey defence just to fuck with the guy. Afterwards my brief told me that it's kind of policy to just let a case go to pieces if you know your client is in the wrong.

That isn't a Union Jack, it's a Union Flag. A Union Jack is only flown on ships from the jackstaff (hence the name).
