GunFag Here! Interested in buying a Sig Sauer but still trying to determine what model. Also interested in internet trolls talking shit on this post. Why else would I be here? Hit me with some of your fav models
>>
>>27797096

Carry? Range use? Home defense? Need more details nigga
>>
Unfortunately can't carry bc I'm a califag but home defense bc I live in a bad neighborhood and practice at the range
>>
>>27797124

No carry means there's no downside to a larger pistol. Larger pistols are always better if you're not worried about concealability, they're easier to use, less recoil, hold more bulletz, etc. But since you're a 10rd max califag, the P220 has 10rd .45 mags and a rail for a weaponlight for home defense.
>>
>>27797141
This if you're set on sig. I'd like to pick one up next time I buy a medium price range pistol, right now I'm saving my shekels for the HK Mk. 23 though.
>>
>>27797096

I owned 2 sigs in the past

didn't like them because the grips were plastic and the backspring completely exposed backside of gripstrap underneath plastic

I figured if I dropped the thing the plastic grips would break and the spring would mess up

ok that's kind of weak but that was my only gripe about sigs

otherwise they are expensive shoot well nice triggers reliable good looking and kind of snooty to own

The model depends on what you want to shoot. If you want 9x19 go for the P228. I sold my first one and regretted it every day until I bought another one a few years later. You can never go wrong with a P226 or P220 either. Generally your good to go with anything P22x.

Very accurate, very well priced. Don't get it if you don't like double action, revolver-like triggers.

According to one anon:
"It's a nice trigger in terms of lightness but I can start pulling, go home, cook dinner, fuck my wife, and be back in time for it to fire"

It's very much a Double action trigger. The 320 is the way to go if you want a 250 with a short pull

Don't listen to him. The SRT trigger stands for Short Reset Trigger. It just gives you a shorter reset after the break.

Sig does both the SRT - short reset trigger, which like anon above described shortens the forward travel before it resets - but they also produce a short reach trigger, called the "Reduced Reach" - which is profiled differently with a bit of meat taken out to allow people with shorter fingers to fire them more comfortably.

>this shit happens

Seeing as how my p226 is 26 years old, what should I replace for maintenance? I'm thinking of just buying a replacement for every spring and taking my gun completely apart for cleaning
>>
>>27806023
You can replace it with a new style (coil) trigger return spring, but you'll need to replace the grips too, since the old grip panels don't have enough clearance cut in them for the new style spring to sit without binding. Unless you want to do that, I would just look on ebay or Gunbroker for an old style trigger return spring.

As for other springs to replace, it's hard to say. Being 26 years old doesn't tell me how much the gun has been shot. Sigs are notorious for malfunctioning when their recoil springs get worn out (about 2000 round mark). If you use solid (regular) springs made by a company like Wolff, they will last a little longer. If your gun isn't malfunctioning, your recoil spring is likely still in good shape.

It's recommended to replace the firing pin return spring at regular intervals, but I've honestly never seen one on any gun that was so worn out it needed replacing. Unless you're getting punctured primers, I wouldn't worry about that either.

You will know if the decocking lever spring needs to be replaced because your decocking lever won't be functioning right.

The mag catch lever spring holds the takedown lever in place during take down. If there's any annoying wobble of the takedown lever while taking apart your gun, you can go ahead and replace that.

The mainspring is probably fine, and if you have the old style hammer strut with one piece spring and seat, I wouldn't touch it. Those are a nightmare to take apart. It is possible to swap the hammer strut, mainspring and mainspring seat for the new parts, which I'd recommend, simply for the fact that they seem to improve the smoothness of the trigger pull and they are much easier to disassemble.
>>
>>27797177
>muh nigga
>>
>>27806136
I'll try to replace the mainspring since I sorta want those e2 grips anyways.

And I can tell my gun was heavily used, I bought it as a police trade in and the underside of the frame is pretty worn out. All the springs are interchangeable with older style sigs, right?
>>
>>27806203
>All the springs are interchangeable with older style sigs, right?
Yes, but the old grips don't mix with the new trigger return spring or the new mainspring parts.
>>
>>27806227
>but the old grips don't mix with the new trigger return spring or the new mainspring parts.

So if I were to buy the e2 grips and new springs, I would be good, correct?
>>
>>27806360
The E2 grip kit comes with a special hammer strut and mainspring seat, so in addition to that kit, all you'd need is a new style mainspring and new style trigger return spring and you'll be golden.
>>
>>27806383
Damn, I might do that.

I've shot a p226 with e2 grips before back when I didn't have my own, how do they compare to the old plastic grips? My main grip with my gun right now is how the spot right below the slide release is a bit blocky and protruding.

I feel like I should of just bought a nib us p226 for ~$750 with all the extra stuff I seem to be buying
>>
>>27806448
>My main grip with my gun right now is how the spot right below the slide release is a bit blocky and protruding.

There is a fat hump in the same area on the E2 grips as well. Since its more contoured and rounded it probably doesn't feel as obtrusive as the old style grips.
>>
>>27806448
Person you're replying to here.
The E2 grip is a little thinner and a little shorter. I feel like it reduces trigger reach and lets my small/medium hands get a better hold of the gun. I do not like it for concealed-carry (too rough on my skin), and I do not like it for detail-stripping the frame (just a pain in the ass to remove). I had it on my P228 for a short time, and then switched back because

>I feel like I should of just bought a nib us p226 for ~$750 with all the extra stuff I seem to be buying
The one reason I'm shying away from the newer Sigs is that the stainless slides (they're all stainless, even the nitron-coated ones) beat up the frame rails a lot worse than I've ever seen on a carbon slide (West German) Sig. On the other hand, some of the West German-specific parts, such as the internal extractor, are getting harder and harder to come by, so it's all a trade-off.

>>27806487
To me, it feels like the E2 grip is definitely thinner at that point, but you're right that it's still the widest part of the gun.

>>
>>27806550
Unless the grips are cracked or something I would just stick with what you have especially on a older Sig like yours. E2 are comfy but its not worth the money to upgrade parts to fit them. Spend that money on a SRT kit if you really want a decent upgrade.

Any problems with the US made mags? I have a 226 extreme awaiting jail time that comes with them. A brief search shows that Checkmate is the OEM for US made Sig mags, but I have no experience with the brand. However, I did see a lot of forum threads about them being worse than Mec-gars, so I might just sell them and buy Mec-gars.

The US made mags have all fed fine for me they just don't consistently lock the slide back on empty. Not a huge issue for a range gun but if you plan on using it in a life or death situation, buy the mecgars.

I can't believe a premium brand like Sig would cut cost on mags. The margins on $1k+ handguns can't be THAT thin.

Agreed. But buying the mecgars gave me an excuse to pick up some flush fit mags which I was planning on doing anyway. So I wasn't too pissed at how Jewish they were being.

Get a Sebenza VP9 unless you're a pleb

That's what I was doing initially since I use a pretty high grip. But after correcting it and just loading 1 round in all the mags the US made ones consistently failed to lock back about 50% of the time.

If you get anything other than a P320 you're worthless.

I haven't had any issues with the US made 226 mags that came with my gun. However, I did order some 18rd Mecgar magazines because they are pretty much the same size as the US made 15rd ones and have a better finish.

I love how many people have recommended sig models that don't meet California's requirements.

Nobody gives a fuck about your nanny state's "requirements."

Good, maybe instead of making shitty calicuc.k posts, you could actually research your own shit for once.

God I just wish califags would just get ip banned from posting on /k/

Hi OP,

I have a SIG P320C.

Extremely nice gun! Definitely check that one out! The full size 320 too if you have more room.
