But you can't just skip the first because you'd miss a LOT of story

I thought it was pretty fucking good, but then again, I'm the kind of fag that watches Kaze No Stigma again and again for dat tsundere. It's got some pretty operator scenes scattered throughout, but don't expect 100% /k/-certified accuracy. Sousuke is basically what all kommandos wish they were: an autistic spec-ops child soldier with a tragic backstory, buried neck-deep in waifu pussy. The original series is more of a slice-of-life than anything, but you'll need to watch at least the last 5 minutes of every episode to get the rest of it. The Second Raid is way more operator, like >>27796362 said. Fumoffu is less so, and not really required to understand TSR, but I watched it all the same because panties. All in all, I rate it 6.5/10 on the /k/ scale, not nearly as good as Upotte or Gunslinger Girl, but personally I liked it.
