If you're making a business of it (i.e. often enough to make actual money) you need an FFL.

Lets say you want yourself a full auto M16 lower-- 15-20 thousand dollars give or take.

at a profit of 200 dollars each, youre gonna need to make about 90 guns to get to 17.5k

lets say you end up only making 100... double that to 180 guns

No go to ATF website and read up on who is required to have an FFL (It's actually clearly laid out for the most part)

Well first off Im currently spending my money as soon as I get it on student loans.
Not exactly impusle buying toys at the moment.
But I have actually considered investing if I ever saved up enough scratch to actually do so significantly. The only issue I see are 2 things
1: to make any real money at investing you need to buy in bulk, something I cant afford, probably not for a long while.
2: its not exactly a garunteed money printing scheme, you can lose all of that money overnight because some CEO gets caught with kiddie porn or an earthquake in chile destroys the companies mine.

I need to clarify a bit on my plan though. I thought it could be a fun way in the long term to build parts guns, resell them and kinpartsindulge my hobby and slowly accumulate enough that I wouldnt be taking money from actual expenses (or on credit) to pay for it.

Honestly I always toyed around with the pipe dream of becoming some kind of small time niche type manufacturer but like I said. Its a pipe dream. I would practically need to already be rich just to afford the machinery and licensing fees.
The idea in the original post occurred to me that if it was so easy everyone would do it, but seemed either illegal, or legal but expensive/not profitable.
