how do we take back islas malvinas from the britain?

Hello newfriend! You seem to have misspelled "The Falklands". Don't worry though buddy, I've got your back!
>>
>>27791325
no, they are Islas Malvinas, land that is the property of argentina
>>
Simple; prevent their navy from approaching.

Didn't your navy run out of ammo or something?
>>
>>27791313
>How do we take back islas malvinas from the British?
Simple, Take the Islands before they can get their carrier fully operational. You've got roughly 3-6 months before that happens.

But aside from that there is no way. The Argentine Airforce and Navies are both massively out of date due to the British blocking sales of advanced aircraft and weapons to you.
>>
>>27791381
That is not how you use a semi-colon, go back to fucking school
>>
>>27791361

They have the following:
>Anti-submarine helicopters.
>Anti-submarine/Anti-aircraft frigates.
>Hunter-Killer submarines that are designed to hunt other submarines with homing torpedoes.
If your submarines can get through that then fair play but the chances are very slim.

>>
>>27791453
I mean it realistically it wouldn't be that complicated

Last I heard all that's defending the islands is a few fighters and a garrison of troops

The brit's main fleet will take time to arrive
>>
>>27791313
Does anyone like to use opposing faction-produced guns and ammo for shits and giggles? So far I've put ZQI (Turkish) through a Zastava (Serbian), Norinco (PRC) through a Daewoo (Worst Korean) and British 9mm through an Argentine Bersa.

Using Tula in an AR doesn't count unless it's German.
>>
Argentina got BTFO in the early 80's. The technology gap has widened further since then.

Argentina has a 0% chance of taking the Falklands by military means.
>>
>>27791466
>I mean it realistically it wouldn't be that complicated

It's pretty fucking complicated when you have no naval forces, no air cover and no amphibious assault capabilities.
>>
>>27791453
None of it. The garrison there is large enough to hold off an invasion. Especially considering that the Argentinian air force still uses skyhawk.

If i was in the UK govt I would have started supporting Mapuche militants as soon as I heard about the invasion. Money, training, equipment & weapons as well as copious good PR from the BBC world service and UK quality newspapers. As well as helping Chile with their territorial dispute (which cuts into the mapuche but whatever).

22 Skyhawks and 31 Pucarás

Those 4 Typhoons are going to run out of ammo awfully fast unless they're using guns

They are designed to dogfight. They will have no problems.

Some autist a while back had the idea of filling a container ship with troops and tanks to launch a sneak invasion, everytime we pointed out a flaw in his plan he would add to it. The end result was launching the attack during a violent storm, at night, using rubber ramps.

They had a garrison of 70 troops with no anti-armour or anti-air equipment.

Now the garrison is 1200 soldiers with anti-armour and anti-aircraft weapons and equipment, aircraft support, strategic airlift (helicopters) and naval support.

It's a big base.

Brits don't use Stingers. SAS had a couple back in the 80s but regular forces used Blowpipe.

Brits use something called Starstreak these days, and their Rapier system is being replaces by a sort of ground-based, vertical-launch version of AIM-132 ASRAAM

SAS had the Stingers a lot longer than that. Last confirmed sighting was in 1991 during the Gulf War.

It's highly likely they have a few lying around for UKSF ops, but not for regular forces at all, no.

The British Army as it is, uses Starstreak (as you mentioned) in both Tri-mount and MANPAD versions.

Here's a pic of the rarely seen MANPAD version, or at least a training tube anyway.

Because you didn't design it, you didn't tool the machines to produce the parts, you didn't find faults and improve on them, you didn't do testing, development and modification of systems.

You're just copying.

You don't have experience in manufacturing fighters. Brazil, or to be more precise, Embraer, has experience in producing aircraft and your industrial sector is pathetic. It would be nice if you faggots got your shit together and produced a domestic fighter.

>>27792843

Knock ten mil off the price and it would be fantastic.
>>
>>27792870
Its a ton of capability for that price. You can't even into F-16 block 60/61 for that, and theres less political bullshit. If you needed a Gen 4.5 on a budget, it's the shit. I say this as a huge F-35 fan and general american aviation dicklicker.
>>
>>27792964
I still think Saab should have supplemented the Gripen with a super cheap, super barebones fighter geared towards tinpot dictators. Think F-5 and MiG-21 levels of cheap

But I'm biased because I have a boner for light fighters.
>>
>>27792994
Grippen IS F-5/MiG-21 levels of cheap for a modern light fighter.

Go look at airframe price increases for each successive generation. Anyone got that research I did a few months ago that's been making the rounds as a copy pasta, about percent price increase per airframe with each successive generation?
>>
>>27792786
The last effort to make a fighter by Embraer was the AMX-T in 1986. It was the trainer version of the AMX. Embraer then did nothing on the subject of fighters till 2007 when it did a modernization project on the AMX. The issue is that it is long periods of time will cause the know how to be lost because engineers are human and retire. Hard data and working designs are useful, but if you want to make something new a engineer with working experience on the subject is the most important thing to have. Simply put Brazil does not give Embraer the needed amount of contracts on that area for them to keep up. Also the one fighter they made was not so great as to get foreign orders, or even follow up order for the two counties that jointly worked on the AMX.

>So you don't pay for everything you mouth breathing retard.

If you are only going to make a small amount of fighter you are generally far better off buying a production license then making you're own design. Why? Because RD costs on current gen fighters is huge, easily into the tens of billions of dollars. If you are only planning to make say 100 aircraft then the there is no point to make that investment.

That guy forgot to mention the argies also have another 53 trainers that can be fitted with missiles

That brings their total armed aircraft pop to 106

Typhoons have 13 hardpoints and even with all 4 aircraft going full A2A they'll only have 52 missiles
>>
>>27798978
Only 23 of those trainers can be armed with A2A weapons.
>>
>>27798978

you seen to be clinging to the idea that the IA 58 is actually useful for anything

they can't fit any AA missiles or ARMs what are they going do against Typhoons or an airbase with proper air defence? strafe them with 7.62 mm machine guns and iron bombs like it is 1942?

not to mention if Britain thought the Argentines planned to invade the RAF could just ferry an entire squadron of Typhoons via Ascension Island to reinforce Mount Pleasant

You'd have to be retarded to entertain the idea that turboprop trainers could ever fight Eurofighter Typhoons.

The realistic approach would be to fly the trainers forward as decoys and have the Typhoons waste their ordnance and fuel on them. This would then give the A-4s a better chance to attack the depleted Typhoons that would be returning to base to rearm. They could then be attacked on the ground where they're helpless
>>
>>27799294
Have you ever heard of QRA? They always keep aircraft in reserve.
>>

Welp, confirmed for not knowing what the fuck you're talking about. Around 3000-5000 troops are rotated there at any one time, and there are now SAM installations and a navy battlegroup guarding the island 24/7. Oh and those troops, a large chuck are RM commandos

>>
>>27799294

Oh yeah good luck getting those decoy pilots to fly to their certain death. They'd definitely keep flying after seeing their buddies massacred mid-air by an aircraft they can't fight back against.

I'm sure they'd be also aware that *even* the argies aren't stupid enough to think they could take on the airbase with only trainer aircraft.
>>

Dude, when the Falklands War broke out you had revolutionary socialists who openly supported Argentina, or gave a weaselly insincere mealy-mouthed "we abhor violence so we should just leave the Argentinans to be immoral". Bear in mind that Argentina in the 1980s was an American-supported military dictatorship that had killed over 12,000 left-wing activists. This was simply because they couldn't bear to say that Thatcher was right on one count.

Don't expect logic or consistency from liberals.
>>
>>27791400
I am impressed that they made a song out of it.
>>
>>27791313

Given the state of the Argentine military it's safe to say that it's physically impossible for the Falklands to be conquered, barring some cowadoody scenario where all of South America unites together to create a co-funded military superpower.

Argentina's best hope for recpaturing the Falklands is political. Keep banging the 'decolonisation' drum, that always goes down well amongst the tinpot republics in the UN and that certain breed of Yank who can't think about "Britain" without foaming at the mouth about Washington crossing the Delaware. They should also hope that the Conservative government in the UK screws up badly enough to let Jeremy Corbyn - an actual honest-to-goodness unreconstructed militant socialist - get elected on 2020. Jeremy Corbyn and his shadow cabinet have gone on record praising Hezbollah and the IRA and advocating the murder of opposition politicians, I imagine that "returning" the Falklands would give him a great big commie stiffy.

I showed this to a friend who has actually spent time on the Falklands and first his answer was to laugh so hard that he had to hold his nuts, once he stopped laughing he informed me that the forces and equipment now stored on the islands would make it a very tricky job for any military force outside of one of the major powers, also it would play right into the hands of whoever was prime minister at the time because it almost guarantees they will get re-elected at the next elections, so it is 100% worth them going to war over, so now you have the military might backed by the political will and although the UK military is small it out punches the Argentine military be a long way.

the technology gap wasn't really very big, submarines were the only clear British advantage technologically. It was also the first time a lot of the anti missile defence systems were used in anger, it's not exactly surprising there were flaws in execution.
>>
>>27803700
Came down to operational necessity and some basic failures in the command & control process.

For example the Sheffield was lost entirely to the latter reason. They didn't acknowledge the call out that there were enemy planes in the area. They didn't acknowledge the call out that missile launch had been detected. And they didn't trust their own screens when they detected the missiles, and so didn't launch chaff. Luckily the Exocet didn't actually work otherwise many more people would have died. It was very unfortunate that the fire went out of control.

It's incredibly depressing that just four years after saving 2,000 Falklanders from oppression under a fascist dictatorship, Margaret Thatcher condemned over 3,000,000 Hong Kongers to oppression under a communist dictatorship. All just so Britain could have its own domestic industry undercut by cheap chintzy knock-off sweatshop tat.

Thatcher did three good things - Falklands War, EU Rebate, and standing up to the unions. All very important, valuable things, don't get me wrong, but she also had three absolute monumental fuckups - letting Mugabe take control of Zimbabwe, the Poll Tax, and folding like a pack of cards over Hong Kong.

The UK would have said that its treaty was signed with Imperial China not Red China, and so it was under no obligation to hand back the New Territories after the lease expired. Even if it was, the principle of self-determination as enshrined in the UN charter should have trumped over everything.

China wouldn't have gone to war over Hong Kong - they'd have rattled their sabres sure but they valued the trade passing through it too much to want to make anything too much out of it. They bluffed and Thatcher blinked.
>>
>>27804177

It's widely believed that Michael Heseltine, a member of the government who was its big advocate, was well aware that it was political suicide but advocated it precisely for that reason - he deliberately precipitated a crisis that would get Thatcher kicked out and let him become the new Prime Minister. Unfortunately for him he lost the Conservative leadership election, so his grand coup fell apart and he poisoned his party's reputation which it still hasn't recovered from over a generation later.

>>
>>27804335

It wasn't really the missile that sunk the ship in such a regard. HMS Sheffield survived the missile strike, and would have been recoverable.

Just unfortunately, the South Atlantic is the very definition of "buttfuck no-where" and when a major storm hit, it was quickly realised the damaged ship had no-where safe to go to that it wouldn't be filled with water through the hole.

The missile took her out of the fight. It was the storm that sunk her.

>Fit three Martlets on a single Hellfire rail
>Holy shit Apaches are going to be missile massacre machines

Look into APKWS instead. You take an unguided Hydra 70 rocks, slap on a new section near the head & boom, it's guided.

Theoretically, you can mount 4 of them where a single hellfire used to be and keep the hellfire rack. Or just use the old Hydra launchers, which means 19 rockets in the spot of where 4 hellfires used to be.

Cheap as shit and great for on UAVs.
No need to waste expensive Hellfires to blow up towelheads or technicals.

You screw in the guidance & fin section onto the rocket & then reattach the warhead. Simple as fuck.

It would make Reapers & Predators a cheaper to use and allow them to hit more when fighting unarmored foes.

Standard 70mm rocket pod sizes are 4, 7, 12 and 19.
(doesn't need to be a hydra btw, they're going to be made for most common 70mm rocket variants)

Since the warheads already exist, you have access to a wide variety of ammo that doesn't need to be invented or added to the system later. You get standard HE, HEAT, HEDP, MPSM clustermunition, WP, RP, flechette, ballbearing, CS, etc. And you can reuse your old stock if you have a lot of it left.

Article 5 doesn't concern overseas territories unless it's something like the Azores. Certainly not outside the north Atlantic.

Not even a case of SOP limiting the brits or systems malfunctions - the Sheffeild's on duty RWO/countermeasure officer wasn't on deck like he was supposed to be and was later (in the public enquiry that had to set up to get around the RN's stonewalling on the issue) found to have been having a quick wank in the toilets when the attack happened, so the ship didn't release its chaff countermeasures.

Shhh.. The falklands are the only remotely impressive thing the brits have done since WW2.. just let them have this one.

The Argentine government even has a Secretary For Las Malvinas, a completely vacuous government non-job if there ever was one.

On a more serious note, which countries today (other than USA and UK) have a capability to recapture Falklands from the Argies assuming they were successful in taking it over and were at their 1982 military strengths?
You can assume they would be geographically located where the UK is and had overseas assets available to the UK at the time (Ascension etc).

I presume Russians and frogs would have a decent shot. Any others?
>>
France and Russia are the only ones. Maybe Chinese if they sacrifice their entire merchant fleet to carry troops and die to ancient ASMs.
