Kershaw skyline. 20 bucks, light as hell, great blade shape. Since I don't really wanna regret losing it, 20 bucks is perfect.

Depends on what you want, OP
You could buy a Mora for small and light tasks to save a few shekels. I have an Ontario pilot knife from the 90s, and I love it. Those are in the 40-50 dollar range. Alternately, you could go with an Old Hickory knife. Dave Canterbury seems to recommend those a lot.
Honestly, I would recommend just looking at Ontario knives. They're pretty fantastic knives, and right in that price range.
any good knives with a blade around 8 inches?
>>27789380
Not really, because that's a dumb length.
If you want a woodscraft knife, 5-6".
If you want a fighting knife, 5-6", maaaaybe 7" if it's a Fairbairn-style dagger (Gerber MkII).
If you want a -really- long knife, get a kukri or realize you need a machete.

fudd/10
I actually like them but the 6 is my favorite because they are a bit shorter but not as wide making them a bit stiffer and stronger than the 8, I think they are stamped and forged from the same sheet because the thickness seems to be about even with them.
Still for 9 bucks they are a brilliant deal, best price I've found is here http://www.ebay.com/itm/321900554914?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
