Things veteran users of /k/ would remember. Some of this shit isn't even that old. Lets celebrate times past.
fuck forgot picture
holy crap, I about had a nostalgia stroke when I saw that pic
I don't remember why it's significant anymore, but still.
I have to admit I got really sick of all the ron paul memes, but it's ok for old times sake and stayed funny for longer than I thought
Everyone's familiar with the traditional grid of /k/ users which gets made each year, but I think this was the very first one (or at least one of the very first).
Speaking of which, do we have a /k/lass of 2014 yet?
Not-so-veteran, still fun while it lasted.
I miss it a lot actually.
IIRC Meplat even posted there from time to time on the Transportation or Vehicle board, can't remember what it was called because I rarely visited that section, I could even be thinking of a different imageboard entirely.
That is an SKS
WTF /k it was a magical place
Btw who let you out of school early?
wow, that's amazing that we've gone through so many in just a short amount of time.
I'm actually sad to see some of them gone.
>Some of those I could do without.
I couldn't agree more.
Man, you could summon that guy like a demon. Just type fn57 into /k/ and boom. Any day, any time.
what the fuck was that all about
Some of this stuff I don't get. But then again my first memorable trip was Duke telling everyone 1911's - no, wait, the response to everything was "get a good gun" and whatever.
Meh, guess I'm not that oldfag. Think I started browsing 4chan in general back in 08
We had the spring/summer one a few months ago. The more "official" ones have been done in November in the past, so I assume that's when it's going to happen
The thing is, most noteworthy memes stuck around on /k/.
What we lost we posters like Drake and Bat Guano who would consistently post cool shit.
Man, I just realized that the only trip from when I first started coming here that still posts regularly is That Guy.
Nah, it's just which tripcodes are still being used.
I was around since mid-2008, but I've only posted with this trip for the past two or three years.
The opposite is also often true. I bet you half the old trips you remember still post here anonymously. They just garnered so much ill-will from being shitheads that it wasn't worth it for them to post with their trips anymore, because every thread they did would turn into a giant shitfest about them.
What was the company that made HK94 clones that he said were the best but the company's owner had a lawsuit filed against him for making such garbage firearms?
I tripped for a while, but got tired of constantly putting effort into things that didn't get a lot of attention and being careful to be as non-controversial as possible.
Shit became like an unpaid job.
As Anon, I can just post whatever, whenever.
>the glory of trolling british media
anyone have the rest of these?
It's not a question about not being a dick or not being controversial, it's about not being a fucking moron. If you can admit you're wrong, you're already better off than 90% of /k/ and people take note of that kind of shit. Or just forget you exist, either way. We only seem to have strong memories of stupid shit, here.
That entire thing was fucking hilarious.
For those of you who aren't familiar with it, here's some great fucking reading for you: http://lonelymachines.org/mall-ninjas/
maybe not, is this getting closer to old?
Guys, I'm posting from my phone on lunch break, but does anyone remember that REALLY rusted AK the guy on patrol(or something military) found and promised to fire and record on /k/ the next day? Any followup on that ever?
Only oldfags remember the king of /k/. SLASH K SLASH. also known as the water bottle ninja
Reminded me of this one i haven't seen for awhile.
No, now that I think about it, I may have never unburied that shit.
I keep backups of my shit since I do architecture drafting work and would bury stuff in the yard in ammo cans if the house ever caught on fire so I wouldn't lose my valuable work.
I've moved a dozen times over the decade, so I may have left a few.
When will /pol/ realise THEY are the jews of 4chan evicted and hated on every fucking board?
There needs to be some kind of a movement, for /pol/ and by /pol/, to move back to their fucking containment board and stay there. Like, some kind of /pol/ Zionism, if you will.
There is nothing to be done. With every happening, the cancer spread. The fucking nudes leak will only make it worse.
You don't think that was intentional? The media prattling on about 4chan the hacker. No accident there. They just flooded the fucking place with every soccermom, teen, and SJW in the world. Now they spread through the boards to find one that they hate or love so they can piss us off.
Am I the only person who remembers Meplat?
I only hopped on a few months prior to the Libya Happening, so an old-fag I am not. In fact the BOOF "Cthulhu round" thread that devolved into cat gore and an all around 400+ post disaster is one of my earlier 4chan memories.
Hue. The first (and last) time I saw LEO was the day after I discovered /k/ (maybe a year and eight months ago). He claimed some bullshit about the AR 5-7 and got rekt in a thread that I posted about weird looking guns.
That was also the first time I saw Truth, and sadly, not the last.
I don't really think so.
Our traffic may increase a bit, but there's something long-time chan users don't really realise about chans:
the format has a pretty steep learning curve for newfags.
I mean really try to think back to the first time you EVER used a chan. Ever.
I first discovered 4chan in maybe 06 or so, but being a dumbshit who was used to myspace and traditional western forums at the time, I couldn't even follow what was happening -- between all of the memespeak, abbreviations, and general textual conventions, I was utterly lost. Lurked for about a day and then never came back until around 08...
in 08, I had to lurk for a couple months and use ED as a dictionary before I could even decipher most conversations, and it was well into 2010 before I started regularly posting.
modern 4chan is even worse -- high volume of traffic = retardedly fast paced conversations, and most references like ED that could've helped a newfag learn basics about chans are vastly outdated...
Basically, chans are inaccessable to normalfags who don't make an effort to learn how to use them. My prediction:
We'll see a few weeks of boosted "how do I 4chins" traffic, afterwhich everyone will fail at it so hard that they leave because they can't into using a fucking imageboard.
I lurked /b/ and /wg/ and /s/ for years. I think my first post was trying to figure out where some great pro-fun stuff was coming from. That led me here, and I haven't been back to be more than twice in the past two years. /k/ was the home I never could find on the other boards.
>Basically, chans are inaccessable to normalfags who don't make an effort to learn how to use them.
Except that thanks to places like leddit and 9fag putting together step-by-step guides to not being scared of the big bad chan, acclimating takes all of a few days now.
Red T-shirt, sunglasses, campaign hat, and an AKM iirc. I'll try and dig it up. I rarely ever post so people always accuse me of being a newfag. But I've been on /k/ since 2007, 4chan in general since 2005.
>TFW imagining MF Doom posting on /k/
I remember Johnny Labs when he was still around.
I remember SAO Operator being an absolute faggot.
I remember Zed making shit-threads
I remember Squid being fucking retarded
I remember /k/ scaring away Boof with hate
I remember when Ivan slowly stopped posting.
I remember SVT-Stan getting banned for self-promotion
I remember the original Girl!, and the shit he/she got
I remember Hotaru Maniac, and his eventual abandoning ship with Meplat.
Trip-fags come and go, but /k/ never changes.
Sounds like special weapons. Some dude named todd bailey owned it and was sued by pretty much the whole Internet.
I have a funny story about his pos guns. I have posted before but it's not pasta ( yet)
> walk Inna gun store to apply for job
> classy small store with a hunting/fancy hunting clothes focus
> talking to manager about working gun counter.
> this was 2003, a high water mark for special weapons bullshit
> in walks giant doofus. Pretty much a walking cliche for Internet gun owner ( but before that was really a thing)
> his death kills kills moto tshirt and 80s action movie tattoos , not to mention his 300 lb ass, alerts me to the fact that he was a known arfcommer
> as I am speaking with the GM about possible employment, this guy approaches and opens a case.
> the rifle case contains a special weapons s5
> fatty Mc tactical wants to trade it for a 1000$ Kimber ( a loss of several hundred btw)
> gm is fucking clueless about this thing
> we go into office. He confesses he has no idea what it's worth, and does not want it if it is a pos
> I give GM a tldr of special weapons, the todd bailey lawsuits, and the general lack of manufacture support the gun has
> hired on the spot
> trade rejected with great prejudice
So I get a gunstore job because of this nonsense, then
> go home
> access arfcom
> drink bubba's delicious tears in a thread where he rails against the " Fudd gun shop that tried to screw me on a trade"
And the tears were delicious
I don't archive this shit, and I don't see everything that's posted, but when I do see something that makes me chuckle, I do occasionally save a pic or screen cap it.
Like the jackass who did this
Goddamnit, looks like a nice Oberndorf made walnut stock. Probably WaA135 stamped on there- which is the one I need to complete my restoration.
mfw utter disappointment
Guy must be a reenactor like me. Channeling my inner autist and proclaiming his Y-Straps suck. Shit chinese repros.
I cry for that stock. I need one bad and nobody ever has one for sale.
Can't believe no one here has posted Hunter 2-1 Actual yet.
ok, this I agree with and feel silly for not thinking about.
auto-noko and being able to hover over inline quotes to see the response/responded to post does make 4chan a lot easier...
Ah...it would be fun to see how fast the dildo-ery would drop here if moot intentionally broke the site for a week.
Just proof that /k/ and drugs don't mix
>I miss Quentin.
I hate hearing about shit like that, she was adorable and /k/ as fuck.
>Kickstarting an AK like a motorcycle.
I still talk with him from time to time. He's started a new job and is trying to get some schooling done so he's hardly on /k/ anymore. Offered for me to come down to him but Its too hot in Phoenix. Nerk is a kickass guy though and its too bad shit went tits up with his wife. He's still one of the few /k/ommandos that has an Obrez.
Yeah, Nerk inspired a lot of my /k/ related exploits and other ATF end arounds. I saw him post a few months back, if you talk to him again, let him know at least on /k/ommando misses him and wishes him the best.
personally, I don't like the way I think.
4chan is perfectly capable of handling increased traffic, it's just that moot doesn't take cues from his forebears at futaba channel.
those rascally jap bastards have traffic that dwarfs 4chan (hell, dwarf's facebook sometimes) and they still manage to not fly apart at the seams. How? Duplicate boards.
futaba channel has like, 5 "/b/" boards, each of them catering to the same topic. It keeps the idiot fumes down, though, by breaking 1 10,000 man /b/ into 5 2000 man boards so to speak.
moot could easily do this for high-volume boards (imagine: a world with 7 /pol/s, 2 /k/s, 10 /b/s) to help slow down the boards and promote "real" discussion. but he doesn't, and reading certain newsposts here and there, it appears that this is by design (doesn't want to "fracture the community" too much or something).
> 2 /k/s
Interesting, but that was kind of what /out/ and /pol/ were intended as and the results have been mixed. It's not a perfect analog though, so it could make things interesting.
History tells me that 4chan needs to be rendered non-functional in a very loud, stupid fashion for a few days out of the year each year to clean house, with a good amount of administrative fuckery year round to keep people guessing.
I always wonder if Ace of Spades actually went and done the stupid shit he always talked about? I know his last thread was something about going to the border to fight the cartels and never came back.
Yeah, but the French were able to keep the Nazis out longer than /pol/ was and /out/ is made up of gun-hating hipster statist who won't ever see what's happening to this country with all of Obama's pubes between them and the world.
Naw. I did it for a few years and moved on. My first few years in college, so it was pretty much beer/ ammo money. Pay and hours were minimal. Tough to make enough to pay the bills in that job.
Since its fun, there are always people willing to do it for peanuts.
> that discount
> Those free transfers
Nigga this was long before obama
> 500 rounds of .22 was 13 bucks
> wolf x 39 was 10 cents a round
> SA battle packs everywhere
>Yugo sks= $120
> we could not sell Saiga 12s for 189$
> AKs could be found for 350 shipped
> Mausers were 100 and nuggets were free
>8 mm and 762x54 was like 2 fucking cents per round
I don't remember all the details of that clusterfuck, but I think it went down in a way that Leo=Constable and Sao was just someone else who was a jackass or something.
However I could very well be wrong, though I was dealing with real life drama (my dad was in the hospital and in a coma kinda shit) and really couldn't pay attention to /k/ beyond trying to answer every question in that night's qtddtot thread that hadn't been answered....I think.
Hey, we kept our shit together for the KOINTELPRO shit against the Brady Bunch, didn't we? We have done well in the past, we can do it again.
