Question /k/

With summer here in Phoenix we are looking at 118-120 degree weather.

I sometimes leave my carry pistol in my car if I am going into work, a bar, or some other place that I don't feel like carrying.

Is there a maximum heat that guns and especially ammo that I should be aware of?

I just grabbed my carry piece out of my car and it was too hot to even hold. Can I do damage to it by leaving it there? Will my expensive carry ammo still function 100%?

What's the max heat a gun and ammo should be exposed too? Or does it not matter?

>>34295108
probably not, I live in nevada and it gets hot as balls here I leave my guns and ammo in hot temperature for hours, though I have heard that sunlight does damage after years of exposure as opposed to the heat itself. so far ive had no issues and everything goes bang.
>>
I figured with years of guns and ammo being in the sandbox that they withstand extremes. But the insides of vehicles here exceed 160 degrees. So I wasn't sure if ammo would become damaged at those temps

Hey /k/, I was wondering if anyone knows where to find 7.7x58 jap. After googling around all I could find was a specialized order from cabellas. Where do all you type 99 owners get your ammo? Also general ammo sale and store thread

You're playing a handloader's game. If you don't want to pay for 7.7 jap brass you can form it from .30-06. People will tell you it is dangerous but those people assume everyone is an idiot.

Is it true that there are active black gangs and cells of MS-13 within the US military?

I'd venture there's a ton of gang members in the US military, why wouldn't they be

It's not like becoming a grunt is hard, and how would they know if they were a gang member?

There was a cop who owned a tattoo parlor out here and he was covered in gang tats. Nothing could be proven before he was gunned down by his gang.

Thinking of getting another Walther just wanted honest opinons from other Walther firearm owners on which they prefer.

I own a P99 and prefer it over the PPQ because I like DA/SA, but good luck finding a full-size in 9mm.

Out of the plastic ones, PPQ.

PPQ if you like striker guns, P99 if you like DA/SA. The trigger and super-short sight radius on my PPS leaves me struggling to put all 5 rounds in a 4" target at 7 yards.

hey /k/ I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for building a stamp free "firearm" like the SBR in my photo.

I am looking for suggestions/advice on making this as legal as possible as I dont think an AK firearm build has been done before.

From my understanding I will need to permanently attach a pistol buffer tube in a way that it cannot be folded. This will then act as a receiver extensions as it cannot be folded/removed. permanently attaching the buffer tube seems necessary because it will not be a stock and wont be necessary to the function of the firearm (unlike an AR firearm).

So far in length i have
receiver 10.25"
buffer tube 6.25"
pinned/welded muzzle brake 0.75"
leaving 8.75" for barrel, but ill probably go 10" and leave the brake alone

also if you guys have a better/more likely legal buffer tube solution i would appreciate that.
i was thinking of welding a castle nut to a steel insert and then welding that to the rear trun/receiver. Pin/weld the buffer tube in place as they are aluminium.

before u troll about NFA please get up to speed by reading this link

Just build that with out the VFG and a brace rather than a stock. Boom, stamp free legal pistol.
>>
>>34294150
True but the point is I want a vertical fire grip
>>
>>34294159
Well in that case, a PAP is around 19 inches and a brace will put over 26. Buy a new hand guard and add your VFG.

> 1.) Why was it retired? It's stealth is entirely still effective right? Is the F22 really as effective a strike aircraft?

Slow, clumsy, poor payload.

>If we had them in Vietnam would it have effected the outcome of the war notably?

What's your major malfunction?
>>
It's a subsonic strictly A/G strike plane with only two internal hardpoints, and the fuselage design is a heavily outdated compromise that was made due to lack of computational ability at the time
And assuming it enters vietnam without PGMs, no
>>
1. The O&M costs were very high relative to the capabilities, and newer designs had a lower RCS.

2. That depends 100% on whether they had laser designators. Laser guided bombs existed during the Vietnam era, but they were a hideous PITA to use because of the enemy trying to shoot you down while you're trying to aim the thing. Having a stealth aircraft to put Paveways on specific targets would be very helpful.

From 1965 to 1968, the war in Vietnam was primarily a counterinsurgency and that's the period where the US public got sick of it. From 1969 to 1973, the VC was progressively blown the fuck out by US forces, which meant that the North Vietnamese needed to attack with conventional forces and the US could actually affect the battlefield via strategic bombing.

So an offensive like the Spring 1975 offensive that toppled Saigon might not have been possible with the US constantly cutting off the flow of war materiel to conventional forces.

TL;DR maybe

Local fun store just put this M1A up on their gunbroker page. Doesn't seem like anybody is gonna bid on it. Would it be worth it for $1250? I called the store and they said it comes with the rear scope mount and a wooden stock too. Do you guys think this would be a good deal? I've never shot an M1A but i've always thought it's a sexy fucking rifle. What can /k/ tell me about the M1A? Is it really as accurate and reliable as the local fudd lore would have me believe?

I want to buy an antique Afghan Jezail so I can put the stock on my Tikka T3 Lite. I'm very much a fan of the Mannlicher and I also like the curved buttstock. Plus, it's an ode to my ancestors. I've managed to find a very small Jezail (for reference they're usually in the 60 inch range) and I want to see if /k/ thinks this is a good idea or not.

Would I be better off having somebody design a curved stock for me instead of destroying an antique and blowing $500 bucks? And who will do this for me?

Link to particular Jezail I found: http://www.orientbazar.eu/steinschlossgewehr-nr56-28920494-28920552.html

Tikka I'd be doing this with (also LH, .308win): http://www.tikka.fi/rifles/tikka-t3/t3-lite-stainless

In the movie the counselor, the cartel guys who impersonated cops- one of them had a micro uzi. When the innocent bystander drove up to the scene and tried to turn around, the cartel guy shot at his car from 100 meters away and wrecked him. Is this realistic or is that a hard shot, even for full auto?

Hello dear /k/ommandos

I recently found out my EOTech holo sight I inherited from my dad is a fake (LED light instead of laser, no serial number, etc). I need a solid optic now. I've been considering either an ACOG because the ballistic markings would work with my AR, but also pic related (real thing this time) because of the versatility of having a 1x/3x mag optic.

What do you think my dudes?

You know most small lasers use laser diodes, aka LEDs, right?
>>
>>34292821
actually laser diodes are called LD without the E.
>>
>>34292687
Just get a variable optic. Magnified red dots are inferior in everyway.
