Which one of these should I get?
I was at a gunstore and fingerfucked an LCP II. I was pretty impressed with the overall construction, the sights were better than expected and I could grip it well.
There's just one problem: it's striker fire.
Here's why that's a problem. With the price of .380 I'm going to spend most of my time with it dry firing it. I can't dump thousands of rounds a year at the range like I can with my Glock 19. I'd much prefer a DAO trigger to work with for that reason, so I don't have to rack the slide every time I dry fire.
That brings me back to the LCP .380. PSA has a deal on these for 180 bucks, although honestly I'd probably just pay the extra 20 bucks at sportsman's guide because I like getting my stuff at a predictable timeframe. From what I understand it's worse than the LCP II in every way, and has more or less nonexistent sights, but I like the fact that it's DAO.
What do you say?
The only reason I'm buying this gun is so I have something to carry to the gym or when I'm jogging.

I own the lcp2 and its a fine gun for what is is made to do. It fixed alot of the issues the first gun had and feels good in the hand. The only gripe i have is that there is next to nothing on the slide to grab on too. Since the gun is air weight it actually recoils a bit. Range wise the sights on my case dont seem to be on and are also non adjustable. Is it hammer fired with the hammer hidden in a grove of the gun. Its a fine piece, that does its job just fine. It wont shoot targets that are further away, and its 6+1 capacity is low but to be expected. Trigger pull is long for obvious reason but feels fine when you click it. If for whatever reason you are autistic, you can buy extended mags too. Defeats the purpose though...

Man I bought the Gen 1 from PSA because that price point. Just treat it like a snubby double action and you'll do fine. I don't like the aesthetics of the Gen II it's slightly larger and boxier. Sure it has a better trigger but I really like the look of the Gen 1 LCP, it's rounded and sleek. They're definitely not for inexperienced or new shooters, but if you're confident in your shooting definitely jump on it. I'm a fan of the Gen 1 desu

Also adding to this real quick the LCP isn't DAO, it's single action it has a small hammer that cocks after every cycle, just a long trigger pull. The downside to this is when the trigger reset it can trick you and sound like it has reset at the halfway mark without play in the trigger, but this is false and you need to let off enough for a full reset. Dunno if that has been resolved in Gen 2 or not, but it's a reallllly long single action trigger basically

I'd love to own a collection of interesting and/or cool guns, but I'm european and more importantly I'm a neet, so it's very unlikely to happen.
BUT A MAN CAN DREAM!
Make me dream /k/: post cool interesting firearms.

Does anyone know about maintenance or ammo pressing on a Swiss Vetterli rifle
Self bump
>>34303780
Try the milsurp guns thread.
Commercial ammo hasn't been made since I think before 1939. The original 41 Swiss was a rimfire cartridge though modern shooters have taken to converting the bolt to fire a center fire version of the same cartridge. Lee makes loading dies for this. You can use trimmed and fire formed 8mm lebel brass and there are molds available for casting your own bullets. Black powder loads are most often used though there is some smokeless data available.
Maintenance is pretty easy, buy a 44cal bronze brush and a 41 cal jag and scrub the shit out of the bore. Bolt disassembly isn't recommended unless it's really dirty. You can find guides for that.
Your rifle looks like a 69/71, you can determine the age of it by looking up the serial number.
Do you own any assault weapon bullets, /k/?

As apposed to low velocity bullets like _____????
>>34303519
they're not wrong. most modern "assault" weapons were developed around high velocity small caliber bullets.
Anybody have recommendations for rifles that are cheap to buy and purchase ammo for? I only have a carcano but the ammo is a bit more expensive than I would like and it's also not the best to shoot. Pictured here is the Savage Model 10 in .308 which I've been looking at. Would it be a good buy?
>>34303326
Im in the same boat and looking at this exact rifle the only downside i see is the mags. However the only fix to this is the mossberg which i have heard are not as smooth
Ruger americans are suppose to be pretty good. Entry AR's are cheap plus you never know what you'll come across at your local pawn shops/LGS
>>34303360
I heard the mags are expensive to replace and that's all. Complete novice to guns here and I want something else to shoot besides the kennedy killer I have
Are Somali pirates still a thing? I'm half tempted to join a ship along the route so I can "defend myself" against them.
I know about maritime laws about bringing weapons to port so ideally they would be disposed before entering port.
Willing to spend up to $25,000 to experience this.
FYI; I don't have combat experience, but I can shoot a mean group at the range.
>>34303325
Have to join a PMC to go on the trip. Most shipping companies don't allow solo independent contractors to run security.

I'm looking at AK's currently for a number of uses, one of which being urban home defense. For this reason, a 7.62 would be a very, very bad idea. I was planning on a 5.45, but since they've stopped imports of 7n6 ammo, that's kinda fucked. What does /k/ think of 5.56 AK's? I know, "get an AR", but I want this thing to never break ever.
>>34303128
Why is 7.62 x39 bad for home defence?
>>34303150
Over penetration. A 7.62 would rip through an apartment building, from what I've been told.
>>34303165
>7.62x39
And 5.56 wont? Do some research before asking retarded questions.

I'll start: here's my new 91/30 1944 trials rifle with Semin bayonet. It's all matching and has the original cartouches on the stock. It seems unfired, should I shoot it?
>>34302960
Yes, take the rifle and place it in your mouth. Then pull the trigger. You should be able to do it, but only once.
Still kinda wonder if these are real or not. Maybe pic related will finally make it out of whatever eastern shithole they've been condemned to.
>>34303333

If that's you in the pic where did you get a chance to hold one of those? One is next on my to buy list.
There are times when belt carry isn't feasible. Most people will go with pocket carry, but I can't stand having full pockets. Which methods do you use?
I've had this Comfort tac belly band holster for about a month now. The holster is exceptionally comfortable, it's less intrusive than any conventional holster I've ever had. I carry my G42 anywhere from crossdraw to 1 o'clock. The generic "one size fits all" is the only downside that I've found in the design. I'd rather have a kydex shell sewn in but it works for now.
It's a bit bulky, due to the neoprene construction, but if used in conjunction with a tucked in and bloused cover garment, it is nigh on undetectable. It's also great for bike riding or gym duty, or anytime you're not wearing a belt.
What methods are you using /k/? Pocket, ankle, CC shirt, belly band, boot holster, shoulder, off body? Be sure to mention the gun you are using as well.
