Also woodworking, biking, and gardening. Starting to get back into comics, old issues, not the new Marvel shit.
So I was talking to my buddy about the most devastating kind of machine gun to mount to a Humvee (or jeep, or whatever), and a really good question came up. Which would you rather have on your vehicle, a M134 minigun 7.62x51mm or a Dragon M50 50BMG? I did some research and they are nearly exactly the same in some respects, heres the breakdown;
Dragon M-50
>50BMG
>1300 RPM
>gun weighs ~84lbs
> Ammunition for 1 minute of sustained fire = 337.19lbs
M134
>7.62x51mm NATO
>up to 6000 RPM
>gun weighs 85lbs
>Ammunition for 1 minute of sustained fire =321lbs
I know it kind of depends on the situation, but generally, which would you choose /k/?
Im going off of the fire rate for the M50 from this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCUhVDjBaI8
The .50 because:
You don't need 6000 rpm
It does everything the 7.62 does
>>34343969
The one that doesn't require the vehicle to be powered in order to use it.
>>34344162
this
also a question
how reliable are m134s? with dust and such...
I am going to graduate next year at age 23 with my bachelors degree (criminal justice & poly sci) with a fairly ok GPA (3.5). I'm planning on applying to OTS in the Chair Force and trying for a pilot. I've heard that the USAF is fairly desperate for pilots of all airframes, but i'm wondering if my undergrad being spent as a civilian is gonna work against me compared to the guys that went to the air force academy, ect.
anyone have input on this?
>>34343510
You'll die over the skies of Syria to a Russian rust bucket held together with duct tape and bailing wire. But at least there will be one fewer lobbyist in the future.
>>34343542
As long as that means I can take a shitty syrian drone with me and get the first air-to-air kill for the air force in a decade
>>34343510
You're never going to be a pilot, just stop while you're ahead
In this thread we design a bullet/barrel to make this work
>>34343448
WTF is "3trika p3imc5"?
Are you excited for high school next year, OP?
>>34343517
Strike primer. Sorry my handwriting is not good
Would the LCR 22 Magnum be a good first gun/CC?
Can it shoot .22LR as well?
If so, yes. If not, still not the worst possible choice.
If you get it in 38 special p+
>>34343369
22 mag? Yes
22 LR? Not so much

Sup, lads.
What's the most niche, or obscure caliber that you know?
5.7x28mm isn't niche, odd, or obscure, OP.
>>34343531
but it's shit like most niche and obscure calibers.
>>34343531
yeah, but it's shit like it
ok, so my local police department is hiring cops like crazy with one year paid training and all that cool jazz. but, im a mechanic. i've always wanted to be a cop but i could never afford to go to school, i tried but only managed to be able to pay one semester. no experience necessary, but they want a resume that i have no idea how to build because the only prevalent skills to law enforcement that i have are competition level long range marksmanship and im a really good driver. if and /k/ops are on, please tell me exactly how to write this resume so i don't have to lie but also don't look like a chump.
>>34343131
Jesus christ you sound like a """self defense""" shooting waiting to -happen
If you can't even write a resume you better stick to cleaning valves and pistons
>>34343131
What jobs have you done besides mechanic? Being a cop is only like 10% dealing with assholes in high stress situations.
When you aren't doing paperwork and other procedural bullshit it's more about just talking to people and "being a people person".
Departments can more or less train someone to be a high speed door kicker, but if that's your go to for a simple traffic stop then you're a liability for the department, not an asset.
Also be ready for a 6 month long vetting process, just to be eligible to join the academy.
>>34343221
i've only ever been a mechanic and a farm hand. i'm not some country hick either, i was born and raised a city boy in a military family. i was always good at communicating with people and following orders, i just don't know how to proceed. i took law enforcment classes for a semester at the local college, but my job interfered with my school too much and my attendance was garbage even though i had like a 3.9 GPA. i'm not stupid, just having a difficult run at things.

Hey /k/ommandos
I am thining of becoming an officer. I have my bachelors and no real criminal history.
I do drugs like weed and benzos and I have been diagnosed with General Anxiety disorder although it was kind of bullshit.
What are my chances of actually being accepted ?
Also, please share any knowledge that might help me prepare.
Thank you.

Zero chance.
What firearm has the best Iron sights?
Do you think, as more optics are being developed, we could see and end to iron sights on firearms? Discuss.
>>34342675
>What firearm has the best Iron sights?
AR easily
>we could see and end to iron sights on firearms?
You could choose not to have them, but I like the redundancy and I like being able to be proficient with them as well as red dots and magnified optics.
>>34342675
The best iron sights ever put on a rifle, hands down, are on the M1 Garand and M14.
>>34342675
SIG diopter sights. iron will always have a place for poorfag countries or backup sigths. small, light, no energy needed, less shit to break
I would like to take a moment to discuss gun insurance, as I have never personally seen a thread about it on /k/. What I mean is insurance to cover your legal fees in the event you have to make a shooting. My case was just dismissed in court, and after a year, I have not paid a single cent to my lawyer, nor a court fee. I was wondering if /k/ at large utilized gun insurance, or even knew of it's existence? Pic not related
>>34342539
Didn't even know that was a thing, but that's pretty incredible that you didn't pay jack for a yr of court. Can you give a tldr on what landed you there?
>>34342563
tl;dr i shot a guy, that is all im willing to say. Sorry if that isn't enough for ya, but im here more to discuss the merits of gun insurance with /k/ in case they are...unprotected?
>>34342539
i'm going to start USCCA in another month or so
Do you own any, /k/?
How do they sound when fired?
Have you fired them without earplugs?
>>34342415
Is it true blackpowder weapons aren't considered firearms in the laws eyes?
Does that mean I can carry a colt navy and be a gun slinging man?
>>34342491
It depends . Law is not same in every european state . In poland for example blackpowder weapon is 100% legal but to buy powder you need paper
>>34342491
They dont really consider them firearms for purchasing purposes, however I think the law treats them like firearms in a criminal sense.
Some poor fuck got boned in Massachusetts for having a 1851 in the glovebox.
Anyone own one of these cute little sumbitches? Are they reliable? Shit? Trying to get input from the most trusted source on gun info on the web
>>34342309
>are they reliable
No
>are they shit
Yes
I have one of those and a .22 mag derringer. No real reason except to try and see how far away you can hit targets sometimes. Never had a problem with the .25, put maybe 400 rounds through it. Just keep it clean.
And i never have rounds in it unless im going to shoot right then and there, dont trust that safety or any safety.
