Is the dot supposed to be invisible on settings 3 and under? On my trs-25 the dot is still very visible on the low settings. Otherwise i think i may like this more, it seems way more well built.
Will be going on a vz btw, scout scope style on the upper forearm

Hey /k/ I was chopping wood with my dad when we found this bullet in a tree. I'm trying to find out what kind of bullet it is. Can you guys help me out?
The tree we cut down was about 80 years old and it was near a battle in the second world war so it might have been from germans or canadians.

I'm still amazed at how the Brits could have lost Singapore. They had 140k troops vs 70 Japanese not to mention 12k! trucks. They should be able to supply fighting troops day and night and if combat units got a bit low on men, they had like tens of thousands of useless bakers/mechanics/transport handlers that they could give a gun to and off to battle.
Did British lose just because Percival was a wuss?

Watch thread?
Looking for watch suggestions. Been using this one my girlfriend got me for Christmas however it's developed a small crack in the bottom after a scuffle.
Now I'm looking for something more durable or cheaper to wear on a day to day basis so if I'm involved in a hands on I don't have to worry about it.
Yes I know this isn't a super fancy watch but it's still nice to me.
Any recommendations? Uniform regs means it has to be mostly black or gold.

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of getting a gun. I couldn't find a wiki in the stickied threads so I'm just wondering what the consensus is in terms of "first-timer" guns. I want something just to have in case of home invasions, something simple and low maintenance. I'd hate to be caught in a scenario where I wish I had a gun and didn't.
I'm a software engineer living in Seattle, money isn't really an issue. What should I pick up, if anything?
Thanks in advance for any response. I'm sure I'm breaking some /k/ etiquette but I swear I did look for a quick resource or wiki.

Glocks are like the honda civic of guns but imo they're overpriced bullshit. There are tons of cheaper guns you can get that will do the same thing or similar. Check out Canik TP9s, EAA Witnesses, there are a ton of surplus police berettas on the market right now but they're not the best for a first timer. My first centerfire handgun was an old Smith and Wesson 915 and the 3rd gen S&W autos will go a long way. Similar are Sig handguns which are more expensive but the older German ones are really good. Cz is a really popular brand too. Walther's PPQ is supposed to have one of the best out-of-the-box triggers on the market.
Check places like Summit gunbroker, J&G Sales, iAmmo and Centerfire Systems for stuff you can get your hands on for cheap. More expensive isn't necessarily better. And a pretty important part of picking a gun for you is going to a range that does rentals and trying out what you like.

Get an HK, honestly. You can't go wrong with a USP. I haven't even shot one. But it my budget were considerably higher I'd own one, no doubt.
Sig P22x series are good as are metal-frame Beretta and CZ (I'm a fan of CZ myself).Best bang for your buck is honestly a CZ 75 D Compact / CZ 75 P-01 / CZ 75 D PČR (pic related)

Can we get a 1911 thread going? I've had my Springfield RO Operator for a bit now, and I want to do.some upgrades. Are magwells like pic related from Ed Brown worth it? Are Hogue g10 grips comfy?
