Just about to start reading this after loving the first. What am I in for? Also /k/ literature thread
>>34366785
A good sequel. Really worth the read.
Keep away from the thinner "Metro 2033 *insert word here*" books, They are not written by Mr. Glukhovsky
>>34366848
Oh, shit really? I was thinking of looking up some english translations of The World Of series. That sucks.
I've heard 2035 is a bit of a letdown given the previous two. Is this true or is it still worth picking up?
>>34366863
Haven't read 2035 myself.
I can imagine that it is hard to build on the climax of 2034 though.
Personally I think that the strongpoint of the metro series is Mr. Glukhovsky's talent for describing the sorroundings the characters roam, rather than the story itself. (The story of cause isn't bad by all means) I don't see why he would go away from that style in 2035, I'll surely give it a read.
Has this terminology changed? I'm used to terminology demonstrated in this image, cocked and at rest. I've been seeing posts online referring to "hammer down" as being "cocked", and "hammer back" as "at rest".
Why did this change? This confuses me because when the hammer is back (cocked) it is lower than when it's at rest, so shouldn't *that* be called "hammer down"?
Seems like when the hammer is up it's called "hammer down". Am I wrong? Somebody please explain.
>>34366781
Your way is the least retarded so that's the way I'm gonna do it
>>34366781
I assume "down" refers to the position relative to the firing pin. It's "coming down" on the firing pin.
Consider also how the mechanism was positioned in older guns, say a flintlock or matchlock gun. There, to strike "down" makes more sense.
So I guess instead, the terminology has in fact been kept but the construction changed.
When telling you to decock your pistol before holstering, uspsa range masters say "hammer down." This is consistent with calling the firing process "dropping" the hammer.

Look out! It has six VLS cells more than our largest ship, better increase military expenditure!
How are you /k/? Dumb conscript here, has anyone ever tried to do pic related and was it worth it?
>>34366701
No. We'd just pull out the springs from our mags, put them on the tent stove and cook stuff on them.
>>34366701
No. But while in I have fired my weapon so much the barrel was glowing as red as a sith lords lightsaber.
Cooking bacon would be easy.
>>34366717
Watched a SAW barrel get ruined that way firing blanks. Dumb privates and dumb NCOs.

So /k/, I think that one of the most powerful weapons is information, and I think that people should be informed so they are prepared to debate. I want to dedicate a thread to resources so you can have knowledge at your fingertips.

>The Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act allows qualified LEOs and retired LEOs to carry a CCW anywhere in the US without a permit
So there are retired LEO civilians exempt from all CPL laws. Meanwhile there are law abiding citizens that have to go through a bunch of Bureaucratic billshit just to obtain a CPL. does this shit piss anyone else off? Thankfully Michigan is about to pass Constitutional carry but the faggot FOP is trying to block it.
>does this shit piss anyone else off?
Everyone should have to take a CPL class. No ifs, ands, or buts.
>>34365529
What about veterans? And you're right, it is bullshit, they should just allow CC for all law abiding citizens already. Maybe thats what they're working for and if it is then I guess its baby steps
What's a good type of armor? I've heard ar500 plates are great. Are there any others on the market? Or your personal preference?
OP again, I meant to type "are there any other better plates*"
>>34365300
Definitely go for steel instead of ceramic. The military uses ceramic because it is cost effective and cheaper than metal. For Tier 1 and Tier 0 special forces like SEALs, they have all migrated to steel, usually multifolded which has higher tensile strength.
AR500 is a pretty big name for steel plate makers on the market currently and their gen+ anti-spalding coating basically makes fragmentation a non-issue for however many rounds the plate gets hit.
>>34365300
AR500 is a good choice, but like anything it's got pros and cons.
Pros.
>cheap
>durable
>great multi-hit resistance
Cons.
>heavy
>high velocity ammo will pen
>richfags will hate you

Time for some historical restoration...
My grandfather was the commander of the 3rd SOS back in the 68/69 timeframe in Vietnam. They flew the AC-47s of the time. I inherited the scrapbook from the 3rd SOS (originally the 3rd ACS) when my grandfather passed away several years ago. Several photos are now coming loose so I am gluing them back down to keep the scrapbook intact.
More history can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3d_Special_Operations_Squadron
A few more pics...
Now time to glue the pics back in.

Should I, /k/? This would be my first rifle and I love the look of the sks. Others have suggested something cheaper, but I kinda want some commie surplus rifle just cause the wood furniture makes me tingly.
If you want one get it now
I got one of the more recent yugo batches on classic and I know I missed the cheap ones but for what I got I don't regret paying 400.
>>34364917
Try and find something in an FLGS, if possible. Classic has a habit of deleting negative comments/reviews, and the overall quality of the individual firearm may be inconsistent. Also, never get the "best of 5" option. It never makes a difference.
Honestly, if you're looking for wood furniture surplus gun, there's a lot of options.
Is there a specific caliber, action, or country you were looking into?
>>34364955
Honestly, anything cheapish from an eastern-bloc, slavaboo country, it'd mainly be my rifle I carry when I hump around in the mojave looking for cool shit
