Hey /k/, just a random question. What is the brightest flash light you can buy that isn't insanely bright?
I work in security and we get these terrible ones that are more hitting clubs than flash lights. Though it's good as a club, it's a terrible flashlight. Any advice would be appreciated.
>>34399801
that isn't insanely high price*
Damn it.
>>34399801
I just bought a pd35tac, it's nice and it's bright denna bitch. It's more for edc though so you won't be able to beat someone's face in with it

Some good brands:
Olight
Foursevens
Nitecore
Fenix
Nextorch
If you're budget is really tight, you can get one of those Chinese lights from sites like Dealextreme and Banggood. I've got a Romisen light that I've had for at least 6 years (probably closer to 10) and it's still going strong.
If you've got a Maglite, they sell LED drop-ins to turn them into much more effective lights (while still letting to you club somebody).
Out of curiosity what would modern warfare look like if firearms were never invented but all other technological progress stayed the same?
Yes, I know the idea that "we can make fucking computers but can't figure out how to send a lead bullet down a long tube at very fast speeds" is a pretty retarded one, but lets just humour each other.
>>34399765
tactical electro-motor loaded crossbows with rails laser pointers and holo sights.
There are other ways to propel bullets like that.
>>34399840
I don't see the rare earth metals necessary for motor technology being mined without explosives. Not in any reasonable quantities, at least.
Fucking hell /k/ommandos I can't contain my rage after reading this on Calguns. Sheriff Hutchens in Orange County is retiring and some wise gentlemen at Calguns are sending letters to her potential replacement telling him they don't want shall-issue CCW because they already got their permits through their connections and bullshitting like good goys, and issuing out any more would somehow jeopardize them.
>Good Day, With the retirement of Sheriff Hutchens, a vacancy for Sheriff of the OCSD is open and I would be more than happy to support your candidacy. I am part of the nearly 10,000 OC residents that have a CCW permit and the topic of the responsible use of firearms is an important for us.
>Currently, we are content with the elevated good cause standards required by the OCSD. While some would like to see more relaxed standards, we understand the need for compromise in this state. As you can imagine, with the compromises we are willing to make to meet this elevated standard it would dismay many of us to face even stricter good cause requirements.

Fellow Califag, you will get no sympathy here. Calguns is as good as it gets for us. Here you just get autistic screeching about moving out of state but not to x, y, or z state because they are full.
Private security firms trying monopolize armed protection services? Who else gives a fuck?

Repost
An AK builder is going to let me rummage around in his "spare parts and bits/bobs" box to even out a trade we're doing.
I've never built shit in my life, anything in particular I should look for that would be useful to the average pleb?
Not looking for building tools or anything.
What are some easily identifiable things I could grab that it would be good to have as backup parts for my SAR and WASR?

In. Again. dunno what happened to the old (new) thread
Would an air hammer drive this in the rest of the way or would it just mushroom the head worse than it already is
Is it fair to say the IJA was overall the best fighting force of WW2 and Americans only won because they had more money and better weapons?
>>34399377
The IJA was the best army of WW1....in WW2
>>34399377
>only won because they had more money and better weapons
That literally what makes a fighting force any good in modern warfare
>>34399377
>was this fighting force that had none of the things that make a good fighting force better than this one that had all of those things?
???
When and why did Cavalry die out?
I'm always told "Guns pushed them off the battlefield" but Cavalry seemed to last pretty long into the age of gunpowder.
>>34399333
right after WW1
Motorization mostly.
Also in old times maybe the first line fell to fire when charging, now with automatic weapons i doubt any horse would even get to the enemy.
>>34399333
>When
1914-1918
>and why
Because airplanes and armored cars can do the job better.
How would /k/ go about getting a pistol through a bag search and a frisk search?
>inb4 up ass
>let police stop and frisk you
>there was no gun on you
>as they start to leave, grab the gun out of their holster and empty the mag into their back
For real though, just don't be black.
>>34398758
Up your ass. Honestly.
Shove the barrel up your booty, and just have to fit nicely into your buttcrack.
No one is going to frisk inside your asshole.
>>34398758
If it's a small pocket carry pistol, an ankle holster if you absolutely have to try. like 80% of the time at a stop n frisk, they don't do below your calves.
Is there anything a straight bolt offers over a bent bolt?
General bolt action rifle thread.
>>34398757
Easier manipulation for the trade off of not being able to use a scope, although you could use a scout mount or do what they did in bf1
>>34398768
>easier manipulation
Idk. It seems like the curved bolt gives you more leverage than a straight bolt.
>>34398810
It can only give you more leverage if it's longer.

Share your favorite books about weapons, battles, or anything military in general. I want to see what you guys read.
I recommend the book Killing Pablo. It's about the people involved in the joint effort to capture and jail, and late kill, Pablo Escobar. It has experiences from colombian police/military, US agencies assisting and even some mercenaries/other gang members. I really enjoyed it.
Do any of you have any book recommendations on military operations? I'm especially interested on anything about the civil wars in central america during the 80's or about the middle east that would help me understand what the hell is going on there.
Books or any form of literature welcome
please
mostly Tom Clancy books, they're pretty gud. I have the american sniper book, it was pretty gud too... (plz no bulli)
Killing pablo is kinda like eating feces.
Well, what i mean is, alot of faggot americans and faggot dea government spooks wanted pablo dead for getting their disgusting roast beef vagina daughters hooked on cocaine.
These faggot gov people were angry because they wanted to fuck their daughts BEFORE they became roast beef labia whores, and they missed their opportunity. And these dea gov fags eat feces on the reg.
So, there ya go. The book shouldve been called, "killing pablo and masticating fecal matter: its the same thing"
By faggot mcfagerson.
The TTAG review came in:

Is this thing really that shitty, or is it just a lemon?
GSG is a shitty toy company.

>Firing the first magazine I experienced every failure you can imagine, and some you can’t: failure to eject, failure to extract, failure to feed, double feed, and soft primer strike. An then the magazine fell out. I couldn’t unleash more than two consecutive rounds without some sort of failure. But hey, the bolt held open every time.
>Next up, old reliable: Monarch brass 124 gr jacketed hollow point. When I tried to charge the MP40’s bolt, it picked up a round and slammed it into the feed ramp. I gave the charging handle a push but it wouldn’t move. Removing the round, I noticed the bullet had been pushed into the case.
>In short, a steep feed ramp prevents the MP40 from feeding hollow points.
I ordered a second magazine from ATI ($39.99 plus shipping), and two weeks later it arrived. I gave the MP40 a thorough cleaning and headed back to the range with some Fiocchi 115 gr and CapArms 115 gr “Superior Range Ammo” reloads.
The Fiocchi 115 gr was not the answer to the failure fest, but the MP40 fired a whole mag of inexpensive CapArms 115 gr without issue. Yay! But . . . the second magazine delivered the same farrago of failures, including a failure to extract that resulted in a spent casing being lodged above the fire control group. After 500 rounds of six types of ammo, only one magazine fired all 25 rounds. Once.
>In the final analysis, the GSG MP40 reminds of an ex-girlfriend (name withheld by request); it’s unreliable and temperamental. You can’t feed it when you want to. You never know if she’s going to disappear into the bathroom and puke her guts out. But she is attractive and you want to love her.
>get new blowback 9mm SMG
>put hollowpoint ammo in it
>it doesn't work
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT
gun felt shit at the gunshow though
(the .22lr STG44 felt great though, but I'm still not gonna pay for it)
