Hello /k/
I've wanted an 5.45 ak for years now, but I'm seeing everywhere that people are saying it's a bad time to get into the round. Why is this?
>7n6 banned from import
>prices on civvie stuff is going up
>vepr rifles banned from import
>arsenal rifles a bit scarce
>other 5.45 options are either from garbage manufacturers or overpriced
>or both
Well shit. Why is russian 7.62 not banned from import then? And is all the 5.45 you can buy commercial ammo?
>>34427339
>Will never see import of ak12 or modern designs why bother with the caliber
>ammo price rising
What's your go-to reliable rifle, the one you'd grab if you only had time to take one and flee into the woods?
Tough choice.
Gotta be the AK or SKS. Likely the AK to save weight.
This is only because I haven't decided on a .308 platform yet.
Sks because canada
A good 12 gauge with decent variety in ammo would be my 2nd choice

Alright I guess I'll help the thread out some with the story of how we turned a shack in the woods into a hobo hideout/stalker base. Have some music to help you get in the stalker mood
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRRGYEFZF4A
>Bumfuck Louisiana, the outskirts of Ponchatula
>Buddy owns roughly 20 acres of land out there
>His family used to grow and preserve strawberries out of shack where their strawberry fields were 30 years or so
>Autumn of 2016, decide to grab AK and go innawoods with buddies to find shack
>Find it; old, desolate, but still standing
>Shack has an awning around it for tractors (I guess that's what it would be called?)
>Set up tents outside the shack underneath the awning, begin clearing floor space inside the shack
>eventually clear up the awning, build fire pit out of old washing machine drum and steel barrel
>put chairs back there, including an old sofa a buddy of mine was going to throw away
>renovate camp until it has fencing around the awning, a new door, new flooring, and some tables
>create makeshift kitchen
>find stash of Katrina era MREs in friend's house, decide to haul it to the camp
>name camp: "Solitude"
>Throughout the year we camp at Solitude, shooting guns at targets along the canal that runs through the property
>sometimes we get really fucking plastered out there too
>find neat shit in the woods too, like old bear traps and for some weird reason broken down cars
Has anyone else done something similar? Do you guys regularly go out there? Found anything cool while out there?
>>34422557
The broken down cars thing seems pretty on par for the backwoods. Probably just people taking them out there to get rid of them.
>>34422608
I just don't understand how though. A lot of the properties are surrounded by thick woods, and there are even small swampy areas here and there. Not to mention the fuck ton of canals that etch through the properties.
http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/11941/chinas-type-055-super-destroyer-is-a-reality-check-for-the-us-and-its-allies
>This is one impressive ship that underlines China's changing weapons development capabilities and its emerging greater naval strategy in the region and beyond.
>When it comes to the Chinese Navy, the Type 055 is very roughly analogous to something between the American Ticonderoga class cruiser a Zumwalt class destroyer, in that it has similar capabilities and size to the Ticonderoga class, but it also packs new technologies that will impact the future of Chinese surface combatant design like the Zumwalt class does. The ship's stealthy exterior and its enclosed sensor mast are situated in between the latest Arleigh Burke class destroyers and the Zumwalt class developmentally speaking.
It's pretty much over.
>>34409029
>The Type 055 could just as easily be classified as a cruiser than as a destroyer. It's 590 feet long and displaces between 10,000 and 12,000 tons. That is 81 feet longer and up to nearly 2,500 tons greater than America's latest Arleigh Burke class destroyers, making it closer in size to the US Navy's Ticonderoga class cruisers than anything else. It also packs a Ticonderoga class's magazine size, with 128 vertical launch cells available. The Arleigh Burke class has 96. These cells will be stuffed with land attack (YJ-18), and anti-ship missiles (YJ-12), as well as anti-submarine rockets (CY series).
>This new ship relies on a dual-band radar system similar in concept to the one that was supposed to be deployed on the DDG-1000 Zumwalt class and that is currently equipping the USS Gerald R. Ford. Two sets of active phased array radars, one being the larger S-band arrays on the vessel's super structure and the other being the smaller set of X-band arrays in the ship's enclosed sensor mast, equip the ship. The S-Band system is used for long range search and track, while the much more sensitive X-band system is used for tracking smaller, stealthier and high-speed objects with greater fidelity at lesser ranges. There are cross-over in capabilities between the two sensor arrays, which also adds to redundancy. No other ship in China's inventory possesses such a high-end radar system.
So, something between Burke, Tico and Zumwalt?
>a single chinashit destroyer
rly made me thnk
>All those pointless festoons
Why are they so fucking faggy and retarded? You couldn't simply do with a flag and a banner?
Hey there /k/

I thought it was dumb
How tactical are you /k/?
When you edc, besides phone/wallet/keys, how much extra gear do you carry?
When you go innawoods, do you use a civie looking hiking pack, or a tactical looking bag with molle?
How much camo do you own and wear?
What is your preferred method of carrying ammo? Pockets, belt pouch, chest rig, etc.
oz = lbs
>>34437927
Name of the pack? Looks pretty neat.
>>34437927
>When you go innawoods, do you use a civie looking hiking pack, or a tactical looking bag with molle?
Depends.
Tacticool bags are heavier and less comfortable to carry, but more modular, allow for better organization and more durable. Hiking bags are lighter and more comfortable but rarely offer any customization, harder to organize and easier to damage.
If I'm going for a short trip, I will usually go with the tacticool bag as it's easier to access stuff without having to stop or even unload the entire pack. It's also easier to attach a small pouch on the side if I need it for any specific reason. If it's going to be a proper hike, the comfort and weight savings of the hiking bag are more important.
Do people really put a snap cap in the chamber when they carry? What the fuck is wrong with you?
>when they carry
the fuck are you talking about, I've never heard anything like that before.
>>34437331
People carry in a lot of stupid ways.

In for going to butcher a rail I buy from Giddy.
Tell me /k/, in as unbias as a way you can, who would win: The People's China or the glorious Republic of India, liberator of Bangladesh, birthplace of Hinduism, Sikhism, and Buddhism, and rightful owner of Kashmir.
The one that isn't literally caked in shit.
>>34435953
China, any notion otherwise is pure lies.
Sure their a massive paper tiger and lack really any military experience but so does India, yet India doesn't have the largest amount of foot soldiers ever recorded and decent technology on top of that.
Not to mention the actual physical size differential.
India would be on defense from the start and all the way until the end of the war.
So either China gives up or they win.
>>34435976
So neither.
Does anybody know what sort of knife this is?
It's the knife that Mark (from Peep Show) buys to defend himself.

Alright we've had Cold War PACT and NATO threads before, however I can't recall the last time /k/ has had a thread dedicated to Asian armies during the Cold War. Hence this thread will be dedicated to Asian militaries from the mid-late 70's to the end of the Cold War. I'm going to not involve the Vietnam War in this because we could have multiple threads on that. Any contributions are appreciated since I do not have much on this topic.
Starting with some JSDF Type 61s
ROK parade in the 1970s.
