Nope, I reckon I'll keep a-carryin' my Whitneyville. My daddy bought it soon after I's born when we's headed out from Alabama to Texas. He got shot by a gambler in New Orleans, though. Reckon until I joined the war effort it hadn't been shot two dozen times.
Carries a rifle charge, a heavy .44 ball, and a hell of a wallop. Capable out to a 100 yards. I've killed Yankees, horses, deer, cattle, Indians from three tribes and a whore that turned out to be hiding a dick with it.
I back her up with a New Model Pocket Remington.

can people stop spreading this old Vietnam "Jail or Enlist" bullshit, it hasn't happened in decades. I know during the worst years of Iraq they let people slide with drug charges and more serious shit but i can't recall a judge waving somebodies who was already sentenced for enlistment. Hey guys, currently a no/shotguns guy, and lookin' to change that. Saw a Maverick 88 for $200 and Remington 870 for 350$ at Big 5. Lookin' to maybe hunt with it in the future, and am at kind of a loss here. Only ever shot a shotgun once, but it was a pretty fun experience.
Also, in California, so has to hold 4 shells to hunt.
tldr; I want your newbie shotgun opinions.

Both the Mav88 and 870 by default hold 5+1, if its a 4 round max then just dont load more than 3+1 or dont take the dowel out of the tube (which limits it to 2+1 on the Mav88 IIRC)
Both guns are worth the asking price IMO.
