Sup /k/. I am a yuropean LEO and the "nosoproud" owner of a Glock 26 Gen3.
Thing is i am deployed at some european overseas territory (subtropical island) and due to the very hot weather and salty environment i have spotted some little rust spots on the slide (you guess...).
So i started considering buying a stainless slide (pic related), but man are they expensive and hard to find here. So since i have relatives living in the US and will be probably visiting them soon i was thinking on buying a slide (pic related) there.
I have no problem to pass it through the border here (just some tax and registration) but, can i simply go to a gun store and buy it there? Here it would not be the case since slides and barrels are registered and a foreigner with no valid gun license cant buy one.
The purchase would be done probably in Ohio, if that matters.

In the US, the only part that is legally a gun is the part that holds the FCG. For Glocks, this is the frame. You should have no trouble buying just the slide.

308 vs 30-06 for a hunting rife. What would you choose? Also, looking for advice on a gun. I was looking at the Ruger American, it seems like a good entry level rifle. But something about a nice wood stock gets me going, so I've been looking at the new Winchester Model 70s as well. Maybe I'll get something cheaper, and buy a higher quality one later on. Any advice is appreciated.

.30-06 is superior for hunting where chamberings are offered anywhere from 55 gr. Accelerators to .220 gr lower-magnum-tier loads. The case capacity and strength of the rifles allows for some crazy hot loads that .308 can't deliver.
Also, anything that is not a CZ550 FS or Tikka T3 is a sin.

Time to start inflicting my vacation photos on you all again. Or at least all who have yet to figure out the filtering functions I guess. How many of these threads we end up with depends on how well my attempts to recover photos from an SD card goes, hopefully nine or ten in the end, coughed up depending on when I can be arsed to process the pictures and post them.
First out is a bunch of pictures from the military aircraft museum Aeroseum just north of Gothenburg. In itself a pretty charming place, as it's housed in the old subterranean hangars of F9.

It depends on which you feel more comfortable with, anon. Statistically, you won't need more than two or three shots in a self defense shooting. I know we /k/ommandos like to play out a grand gunfight in our head where we have to take down 10 bad guys attacking a damsel in distress or whatever floats your boat, but that won't ever happen. Pick what you are more comfortable with and shoot more accurately.
