Storytime /k/.

You know how new privates like to spend their first paycheck on what's commonly called an "E-1 mobile"? I.E. a really expensive car they got suckered into buying at an exorbitant interest rate?

Well in our company we had someone like that. Only his love wasn't for cars, it was for guns.

>training day
>everyone getting issued their equipment for the exercise
>word was we were short exactly one 249, meaning one squad would have to go without
>"But wait!", somebody says at the last minute
>"SAW's gone, but we do have THIS!"
>mfw quartermaster straight up pulls a fucking Soviet DP-28 out of the weapons locker, had a full mag and everything
>got giddy like a fucking schoolgirl, cleared it with higher ups, checked her out
>that same day some lucky fucking specialist got to carry that bitch all throughout the exercise
>can only imagine that he WAT'd hard the whole time

Turns out some kid (who we later tracked down) had spent his first Army paycheck getting a Class III tax stamp from the ATF, and then purchasing a genuine, full-fun, DP-28 off of a private collector.

In accordance with the base's rules, he had to check it in to the armory and leave it there while he was stationed here. Only he PCS'd about a month ago and straight up forgot about/ left it there.

I like the idea of bringing your own gun to the army like some kind of militia

The true WTF moment isn't him getting the DP28, it's him just straight up leaving it.

Whats the best affordable battle rifle for around $600-800 that not an AR or an AK.

Do we have options that don't kill our budget?

Neither of those are battle rifles. Get an SKS or something if you want to be a snowflake, but in the $600 range an AK is your best bet.

Hey /k/, I love my Finnish gas mask (got it when I was 12) and want to buy a new filter as mine expires in 1979 so I don't have long left to use it. If I buy an unopened filter (still sealed in plastic bag and caps not removed) that is past its expiry date is it useless, or can I use it?

I'd suggest buying a new filter if it's past expiration date. If it's the creation date it should be just fine. Any 40mm canister will work.
>>
Think an expired filter will still work for tear gas but thats about it. or atleast thats what im banking on if i ever needed it.,

Considering the extent to which it was used in times past and the reputation it developed I imagine it would fare just fine as a innawoods knife in the hands of someone who could use it well and knew what it was capable of and not capable of.

Yeah, obviously performance will suffer on some calibers, but between it and the flexibility of a shotgun you'd be pretty set for scavenging/reloading

What's the next smallest cannon size below the 120mm of tanks that can damage other tanks?

For example, would a burst of 35mm or 40mm from a SPAAG do anything to a modern tank?

Depends on the angle. An A10 can BRRRRT through cold war tanks at even shallow angles but new/current tanks are designed with an A10 in mind.

>An A10 can BRRRRT through cold war tanks at even shallow angles

Even back in the day, this wasn't true.

It can penetrate a T-55 from the back and top, but not anything after the T-62
>>
>>34566712
The step down from 120mm is 105mm.

Rented a couple 9mm guns for my mom to concealed carry. She liked the Springfield X-DE a lot and so did I.

Again this is a purchase for her, but I was surprised by how good it felt in my hand because normally my hands are way to big for a gun like this. I might even get one for myself to carry. Your thoughts?

Fuck Springfield. They give money to anti-gunners. That and you can get a S&W Shield for $320 amd you can get a rebate for 2 more mags, 2 boxes of ammo and mag loader.

7.62x39mm is the preferred choice if you only own one AK. However, you can never own just one, so budget for an AK74 too.
