Why are regular tan/k/s still manned? Wouldn't it make sense for tanks to be remotely controlled in [the current year] ?
>>34626793
Remote controlled ground vehicles have issues with lag and losing signal. The high techy militaryo flyamajig drones are way up in the sky and avoid those problems.
>>34626793
>Wouldn't it make sense for tanks to be remotely controlled in [the current year] ?
no it would be really little sense for anything to be remotely controlled in current year
Because you cant poke your head out the top of an unmanned vehicle to get a better view and its foolish to expect supporting infantry to know how to make quick repairs.
Are PT92s shit? Has anyone had any bad issues with them? I'm looking to buy one from a friend.
>>34626779
Supposedly they're okay, but why risk it? Anything Taurus made is a gamble.
>>34626779
>Taurus
no thanks. sooner spend a little more or not and just get a police trade in Beretta 92 if want one that bad.
They're fine. Takes most if the Beretta 92 series parts, mec-gar makes good quality mags for them and the guns can be bought very cheaply with nice opions. It's not as nice of a gun as the 92fs, but the controls fit some people better.
It won't be as smooth or as pretty but it's well worth the price if you buy below msrp and I say this as a Beretta fanboy. I've had 3 and only one had failure that was caused by it being disgustingly dirty and gummed up. Could even tell it had 3-dot sights when I got it. Always end up selling em to interesting friends because I had other guns including a Cougar, 96fs and a cheetah
I've heard that firing the Gustav enough times in one sitting can damage your organs. Is this true? If so, why?
>>34626726
I know that getting shot with a gustav will damage your organ
>>34626726
I think firing at yourself just once would damage your organs
>repeated shockwaves, concussions, and explosions are bad for you
news at 10
How do I tell if it's legit?
Give it a lick. If it tastes like stale brisket and gehfilte fish, you know for sure it was used in the camps.
Research and experience.
>>34626599
Stab a jew with it, that makes it authentic
Where can I get a Martini-Enfield (.303 version of Martini-Henry)?????
>>34626511
Be very wary of fakes as the vast majority I've seen are 'Khyber Pass' fakes. Familiarize yourself with the markings and production dates. For example, I've sen some dated 1915 (long after production ceased) with Queen Victoria's cypher (Victoria died in 1901). Not all will be this obvious but the most commonly faked version is the 'artillery carbine' which is the model in your photo.
>>34626593
Here is a photo of the roll mark on my Martini-Enfield. The ME MkI will have a Martini-Henry roll mark on the right side of the receiver (usually rather faint) and a Martini-Enfield roll mark on the left as these were built from existing MH MkIII actions. The ME MkII's were built using new actions.
>>34626593
>>34626612
I'm fine with an Afghan one as long as it works, I'm Afghan myself so it'd be pretty cool
As long as it doesn't blow up in my hands, you never truly know with Khyber Pass stuff
>NJEA supports SJR-67 (Weinberg)/ AJR-37 (Mosquera, Chaparro) which designates June 21 of each year as “ASK Day” to promote children’s health and gun safety.
>encourages parents to add one more safety question to a conversation before their child visits other homes: “Is there an unlocked gun in your house?”
>The ASK campaign is sponsored by the Brady Campaign
So /k/, before Jimmy jr, comes over to play, is there an unlocked gun in your house?
AM
>>34626435
>Weinberg
>>34626435
Honestly, it's not the worst thing the Brady Campaign has done, and it's not even that bad. They're encouraging people to ask questions? They're not mandating anything, and if anything, this will give no-gunz a chance to get informed by their has-gunz neighbors about irrational fear surrounding firearms.
http://www.browning.com/products/firearms/pistols/1911-380.html
Do I buy it?
Just held one and it's the most comfortable thing I've ever held, wish it was in 9mm but oh well less recoil is fine
Either this or a Sig P938
>>34626418
unless you are nogunz yuro trash or 3rd world South American, there is literally no reason to own a 1911 in .380. Honestly is angers me that this even exists but I understand that there are fudds in cucked countries that have "muh military ammo' laws.
>>34626432
I like the 1911 style and I want it in 9mm, this is the next best thing, plus it's as light as a subcompact. I held one today
>>34626418
>1911 in .380
literally the dumbest shit I've seen in weeks
>yfw the Space Corps is coming
>Air fags will be permanently BTFO
>tfw they'll never have the budget to waste trillions of dollars on worthless meme planes and shitty obsolete meme hogs ever again
Is anyone else hard at the thought of the most useless, wasteful, and objectively morally evil branch in the US military being destroyed once and for all?
Just the thought of all the fat airfags losing their welfare checks and healthcare in the upcoming budget cuts has my cock dripping.
fuck earth newtype war now
>ywn see a USSC v. USAF war for funding
>ywn get to see the day where sattelites kinetically bombard AF bases
>ywn witness the emergence of mixed aerial and space fighters created for the sake of hunting down fighter jets

>Trump outsources the Space Corps ship construction to Space X
>Elon Musk gets hundreds of billions of dollars to build a fleet of warships
>he crews them with his own employees a few days before they're scheduled to be delivered
>declares independence and bombards ever major military installation on Earth before setting course for Mars
so im looking to polish off the blueing on some parts to my 1911 for nothing more than aesthetic reasons but I'm not sure the best way to do it.
I do know that blueing acts as a bit of protection since it is its own form of oxidation and im worried that if i use my buffing wheel to shine these parts up they will rust like mad.
Is there anything i can do to polish these parts up without creating a rust issue? aside from just buying new stainless steel parts... which i just might do anyway.
>>34626137
I've had good luck with really fine steel wool and some remoil for general cleaning/polishing, then I just wipe it with an oily rag and it looks good as long as you don't touch it with your grubby little fingers
>>34626137
No. Polishing off bluing is dumb-ass bubba shit. Buy stainless steel parts or have the parts cerakoted in tungsten or something. If you scrub off the bluing there's nothing preventing the parts from rusting.
>>34626287
yea thats why i was thinking too but figured it would ask around first to see if i can save myself $85 for the stainless parts i want to get.
how much does cerakote usually cost to get done to parts?
Being the first of your kind is by default ahead of your time, but honestly this rifle threw a lot of the world (like Prussia and British empire and Austria and so on) into a frenzy to develop their own smol bore, smokeless powder, repeating rifle. Really the first 'modern' bolt action military rifle.
Of course it also has some really dumb ideas, like the tube magazine which was dropped very quickly for very good reasons. Center of gravity, speed of reloading and also harder to make a carbine length gun.
It also has a magazine cut off which was expected for a gun of this era.
It's also heavy and bulky, and it's sister adopted gun would be overall more popular and better despite her holding much less ammunition.
Post guns and explain why they where ahead of their time.
1848
First bolt action rifle.
It was even invented before the metallic cartridge.
>>34626936
Dryse is a NEAT gun.
Where there conversions for the Dryse into metal cartridges? Maybe shortened needle into pin?
Also the paper cartridges had the primer at the base of the bullet right? I didn't know they where separate pieces of projectile and charge.
Despite dating from around the end of WWII, it is still in heavy usage throughout the world with upwards of 75 million having been manufactured. It it noted for its extreme reliability and low maintenance requirements.
The recently deceased designer when asked if he felt any remorse for so many people having been killed by the gun he designed replied that he created the weapon to "defend the borders of my country" and that it wasn't his fault what governments did with it.
I just picked up some rem oil the other day, oiled up my SKS and went shooting. When I cleaned my rifle afterwards, it seemed as if the shit just vanished. Did I dun goof by picking up rem oil?
Any recommendations for something different?
>>34626014
Have the same can at home, it almost drys up right before my eyes. I use light machine oil instead now.
Remoil is shit-tier.
If you want an aerosol, I highly recommend Hornady One Shot. Evaporates dry, but leaves a very slick film, and I haven't had any rust issues with it. Stick to using it with gloves in well ventilated places though, pretty sure it'll give you 5 different kinds of cancer if you huff too much of it.
Ballistol is pretty good too if you want something non-toxic.
>>34626014
Ballistol or just use ATF.
Rem Oil a shit.
/k/ if your dick was a cartridge what would it be?

Thoughts?
melania?
Who gives a shit. A bunch of guys I was in school with enlisted to become seals, they all washed out too. As long as the standards are upheld, they can enlist all they like.
>Navy SEAL
>Posts pic of muhreens
Anyway, enlisting is different from completing selection. She won't make it through, I'm assuming, and that's it.
Should I join the army or try and get into armed police? As it is in England I think I'd probably get out more in the police.
Eh I'd go army, being a cop blows.
>>34625796
go army
>>34625796
join the police so you can be told not to do your job and help fuck up society. Sounds like a hoot
Went to Cabelas the other week to look at potential funs. Wait about 40 minutes for the one guy working the gun counter to sell a $100 rough rider then I get excited because they had some stuff I wanted to check out and I was finally up. The younger guy selling the rough rider disappears then this older salesman comes to help me and I notice he turns on a device on his vest. Looks to be a gopro and it's glowing blue- this fucking guy is recording me as I am shopping for guns as if this is some liberal candy camera session or something. This guy was also rude as shit and didn't know a whole lot about guns it seemed so I ask to just look at one of the things I wanted to see and leave. Last time I fucking shop at Cabelas... Their shit is all overpriced anyways except for the occasional online sale item. Anyone experience anything similar?
Cabelafag here, it's not a bodycam, it's our push-to-talk internal radios. They glow and flash whenever anyone is talking, whether direct to them or on the store-wide channel. He pushed it before talking to you because that mutes everything except the direct channel, cuz normally no one can hear themselves think on the gun counter/library, let alone hold a conversation with all of the store managers blaring their stuff that doesn't apply to anyone outside of their department.
>>34625825
Also used to work at Cabela's and can confirm. There are tons of cameras in the store though so you were being recorded in general.
Don't worry OP, you're not that interesting to need to be recorded personally.
>>34625825
But this explanation doesn't play into his paranoid, self-centered narrative.
How will we have entertaining yet misleading posts on this board with the truth being so high in the replies?
You've ruined the thread.
