SVT-40s like a lot of early mag loaders like the lee enfields or whatever, had a bit of hand fitting done to each magazine. You'd have to do some hand fitting to an old magazine if you got it too.

The problem I have with nationwide concealed handgun license reciprocity is that it would be a tacit admission that the states have the authority to license handgun possession in the first place. I know that AR500 is regarded as shit due to the spalling issue that will kill you by raping your throat... Go out and shoot some steel. A steel gong.
Use plywood as a frame to hold everything together.
Shoot it about 20 times and go check out the spall in the 2x4s you used. It is fucking everywhere.
I used to think buying steel plates would be worth it. Then I started shooting steel all the time and realized the spall is insane and if you were wearing it, it'd absolutely destroy your face, neck, arms, etc.
Just buy ceramics.

Hey /k/, I've been shooting guns my whole life but I never needed to own one.
Its been 4 years since I've moved out.
I've been mugged twice since then and the 2nd time was by a drugged up woman who ended up stabbing me in the arm.
Im on a budget so preferred under 500-600.
What would your suggestions be?
I'm not super familiar with what calibers are good for self defense.

About to leave a continental Europe country and the vast majority of my legally owned stuff here.
UK allows you to keep unmolested handguns and rifles which are of an obsolete calibre with no licence. It needs to be declared to be an obsolete calibre.
Not that I would ever dream of loading, possessing ammo or shooting such a section 58 curio and converting it from an ornament into a section 1 firearm, I look at the following items with interest.
Martini Henry 577/450 long lever (pretty hard to go past these with that massive stash from Nepal slowly trickling away, classic design)
Schmidt Rubin 1889 7.5×53.5mm straight pull (leading contender - cool camming action, 12 round mag, though there are suggestions the action is weak). Pic related.
I'm not getting far with pistols beyond it being clear that llenty of criminals are buying the 1873 MAS French revolver and then handloading. Some of the cals for revolvers are 320 British (not 32 S&W), 44 Russian, 41 Long Colt (my grail at this point is an early 20th century Colt in 41LC).
Suggestions?
