So I took a concealed carry class the other day.
Everything went pretty smoothly during the classroom portion, and the range.
Local Sheriff told us alot of useful stuff, but after we got done with the written exam, some lawyer lookin lady with crooked teeth shared with us a few unpleasant scenarios then told us that we needed to pay a few hundred dollars a year so that in case we ever have to kill someone, a team of highly skilled lawyers will defend us. Buy today and you get platinum plus protection and pay extra for bail money and some other stuff.
She cited a few cases where someone had to use deadly force and said "If he/she had TexasLawShield on their side then they wouldn't be in prison right now" and told us that if someone ever enters your home and you shoot them when they're halfway in the window to drag the body inside, and always look like the victim after an altercation.
Of course all the old biddys in the room just had to have that protection, but I got up and left.
Is this a scam or should I be scared of my own guns?
>>34652790
it's good to have insurance if you can afford it. I passed as the odds of using a gun are so low. the NRA and a few others offer the same service.
>>34652790
>drag the body inside
oh christ this is terrible advice.
>>34652790
That one sounds like a scam
Insurance in general could be a good idea
/k/, what makes a camo effective or ineffective against NV?
>>34652679
Digital camo patterns are surprisingly effective against NV.
>>34652679
A lot of clothes will advertise NIR which means it doesn't reflect infrared light. (or blocks your IR emission)
It also has to do with the type of fabric and ink used in the print.
The pattern itself does not determine how easy it is to see with NV as much as the fabric and ink that is used.

Which is best against NV between AridFlecktarn - Multicam - CCE - Alpenflagge and US4CES Transitional?

>What 2nd pistol should I buy if my first will be a Ruger LCP and been shooting maybe half a dozen times in my life?
In a couple of months I'll be graduating from uni and moving back to the US after spending the last 20 years in Aus. First step to celebrating my return is going to be getting my hands on some funs.
I've been promised a 3 month old barely fired LCP, which I assume will become my CCW, but I also want something larger to enjoy down at the range or leave on my nightstand. Maybe CC when I'm dressed for it.
In rough order of importance I figure I should be looking for something
>Reliable, in case ever need to trust my life to it
>Accurate
>9mm for cheap, ubiquitous and acceptably lethal calibre
>Heavy and comfortable enough that I'll want to shoot it as often as I should (but light and compact enough to conceal carry on occasion)
>Bitchin good looks and rails for tacticool accessories
Cost is not a huge concern but obviously money doesn't make up for skill.
Ideally I'd like a safety.
I plan to spend a fair bit of time firing off rented guns before I make a decision but right now the top of the list right now is
>Sig P320 in ?fullsize ?carry ?compact size. Love the modular design, especially if that means I can cheaply prep it to accept 4 calibres for when the SHTF
>M&P 9. Reviews just seem to paint it as a nice, accurate gun
Also looking at
>Glock 17. Because Glock.
>Beretta 92fs. Accurate, reliable, looks good.
So. What should I get? How should I decide? Any other guns I should be considering? Any general
>picunrelated.
Glock 19 now fuck off

Is there anywhere I can get a new acog for $900?
Guys, I'm starting a knife collection and I need opinions and advice.

Bait, ignore.
You get what you pay for.

the only 2 brands I'd trust
Well to start with, do you know the inspiration for that knife you're buying? It's loosely based on the Robbie Dalton "Cupid," but the blade looks like a Microtech. Go check out some of the stuff he put out during his career. Almost every modern auto knife owes something to one of Robbie Dalton's designs
How does it compare to the deterrent other secondary nuclear powers like France, Britain, and Israel? I know that the PRC has more warheads than France or Britain, but what about the level of technological development.
How are they coming along in developing a full triad?
Is the PRC's nuclear deterrent currently strong enough to deter the US and/or Russia in a situation of extreme tension?
pssh...
good enough, kidd...
>>34651898
>I know that the PRC has more warheads than France or Britain
You seem well informed, tell us more.
>>34651950
Well, of course I don't know for sure. I'm just going by publicly available estimates.
Looks like I was off a bit, though. Guess France is estimated to have more warheads:
UK - 120 active / 215 total
France - 280 active / 300 total
PRC - ? active / 270 total

OP, are you ok? are you having a stroke right now or something?
>>34651573
But at least you aren't a manlet.
...right?
Op isn't an American I'm guessing.
I've acquired a 22 that I learned how to shoot on and a single shot skeet gun so I want to move up to a full sized rifle and was deciding between a cheapo 223/556 rifle similar to pic related that I can grab now in the $300 range or a $600 range semi auto AK design rifle
I'd have to wait to save for the more expensive rifle and since I live in a very anti gun state that may not be an option
This gun would largely just be kept for the sake of having a standard caliber rifle in case all hell breaks loose since I live in a high crime area
>>34651515
>very anti gun state
Which one?
Also an SKS since it's considered "featureless" sounds like your best bet for a quality semi-auto, though they might be pricey in your state due to demand.
>>34651515
If you can, buy an AR. Ground Zero Precision will sell you a very decent rifle for 420 out the door if you can wait for a sale.
>>34651530
Actually, they're banned by name in my state along with all variants of similar build
What's /k/'s opinion of the Strum & Ruger Co. LC9?
I own the lCP (1st Gen) and like it a lot but I need something a bit more substantial for EDC.
For reference I am a 5'8" manlet who wears mostly fitted clothes so it seems to fit the bill for a low profile carry 9 mil. Anybody have anything to say about them to sway me to or from it? I love Ruger so I'd kinda like to have another if they are any good.
>>34651329
>Icp
Meant Lcp sorry
>>34651329
>Ruger semiautos
>>34651329
The LC9 was my first gun. As a fellow manlet with tiny baby hands it's actually rather comfortable to hold. Be forewarned that the trigger is absolute garbage, even worse than the LCP. From what I've heard the LC9s is a huge step up in the trigger department. Other than that, the absurd amount of safeties present are also a bit of a turn-off. Seriously, there's like five of them. The one with the most disastrous potential is the magazine disconnect. Depending on your grip it's pretty easy to accidentally press the mag eject and pop the mag slightly out out of position (they aren't completely drop free unless extremely well oiled). When that happens you chamber the next round fine but can't drop the hammer, and it may not be immediately obvious in a life or death situation that the reason it isn't firing is because the mag is 2mm out of battery. This can be somewhat fixed by removing the magazine disconnect, but that turns it from DA/SA to SAO. At least with the hammer versions, not sure in what ways its different with the striker.
Complaints all said, I've never had a FTF or FTE and I've dumped well over 1500 rounds through it. It also disappears anywhere. Put that thing in a pocket and it might as well have just turned invisible.
I use a SAFN-49 with a Zenith np-75 night vision scope.

Why can't we repeal the Hughes amendment?
>>34651114
'Cause that would take Republicans actually doing their jobs instead of just paying enough lip service to their platforms to get reelected.
what exactly is needed to repeal it?
Does it have a expiration date?

Would a normal PTR/HK bolt be able to work in a C308?
>>34650566
Yes, next question.

Let me clarify. A training bolt you use with the German DAG ammo.
>>34650589
Yes. CETME and HK's have a 90% parts compatibility.
