Got a question for my komrades that only kinda applies to /k/, but I don't want no dang google or redditor giving me a yahoo answers answer.
I work for a local govt agency on a hiring rampage. We are getting new recruits by the assload. 1/5 claims some rediculous spec ops black beret hoseshit story. But one new guy we have looks the part, 1000 yard stare and all. he claims to have been an Army sniper who OPd in or based in Bahrain and made a killshot on a guy in a glass elevator.......
Is there any chance this guy is telling the truth?
Do employers have access to DD214s?
If not, is there some very basic form of military verification aside from the "knowing the lingo" test.

You can ask really simple things like which unit they were in, where they deployed, what bases etc.
Someone who is legit can answer these questions in a second and a faker won't have all of these pieces of a story together.

Other than needing a barrel with a wall thickness on par with that of a 16" naval gun, you'd probably just end up vaporizing the bullet and end up with something that shoots inaccurate jets of lead plasma at its targets.
The barrel would also have to be something like 10' long to effectively turn all that powder into muzzle velocity.

How are you supposed to protect your ears in the event you must use your gun for home defense? Do we just assume that in these situations we just accept the hearing damage that would inevitably take place by discharging a firearm in an indoor environment?

Long barrel gives more time for the gasses to accelerate the bullet, meaning faster bullet. Also it gives more time for powder/gasses to burn out so you get less flash and noise.
Also a longer sight radius, which makes aiming easier.
Like a .357 Magnum revolver with a 4" barrel would be a pretty good general purpose gun, but a .357 Magnum revolver with an 8" barrel can be suitable for hunting in a way the shorter gun isn't.

The 10 gun limit is apparently badly worded. I couldn't find mention of any maximums on the legal papers themselves, so that is probably either a maximum open applications at a time or a policy the interviewee's PD has.

Finally got my license and thinking of getting myself a rifle. Problem is my left eye is dominant, and I have a lazy right eye so even trying to go right handed is out of the question. My friend says left handed weapons are rare and expensive, but firing a right handed ar left handed will cause brass to hit me in the face. Is what my friend said true, and if so how can I deal with this?

What is wrong with these laser defencive systems? Suppsoedly they can shoot down anything slower than the speed of light. And they can do it quickly to multiple targets and as far away as space.
Do they really work? If so, why not just use them instead of Patriot missiles, S-300.

That's my goal. I'm doing SMP ROTC so I will have fun. there's no LT but my platoon sergeant is badass. CIB airborne AA ranger tab pushing 50. I like him a whole lot and he thinks I'm all motivated because I choose weapons squad over line when he offered it to me. Now I'm humping a 240 but he thinks I'm not a shit bag and I was top finisher in a release ruck so I feel good about myself just the armoury is shitshow.
