Have you had any safety break while using a firearm? I've got at least 20 guns, and have fired more, including the XD. I've never had such an issue. But your mileage may vary.

What is the best steel for knives?

Also, what's the point of using steel that easily rusts when the wear retention numbers suggest that stainless steels are the best in this regard?

all steel is different. If there was a "best steel" every knife would use it.

You want a knife with an edge that will take forever to dull and keep an edge forever? guess what you are going to get a knife that you need expenisve equipment and time to sharpen when it eventually does.

Also stainless steel doesnt exist. Stains LESS steel does exist though. all steel rusts. But you add a bit of chrome into the metal and it rusts alot slower.

Unless you are getting a super special stainless steel that you know explicitly the characteristics of , usually carbon steel is usually better.

Buy some books on knifemaking. You will learn alot about alot of different subjects.

440 stainless is generally a safe choice and works very well as it is proven. If you are forging it the only part you are going to have to worry about is how well you heat treat it and quench it. If you fuck that up you fucked up everything.

soldier leg blown off.jpg

Is it better to wound your enemies so that their country has to spend resources taking care of them rather than outright killing them?

If you blow up a guys leg the government will need to put him in a hospital and have doctors help him which leads to less doctors who can help the rest of the country when people get ill. If you kill him they'll just put him in a grave and be done with it but a man with a leg blown off will need resources for the rest of his life. Neither the wounded nor dead soldier will be capable of fighting in the war anymore.

If they aren't dead they can still pick up a gun and shoot you.

Aim for their hands! If both hands are disabled they are no threat
>>
>>34714315
A nations fighting force as in troops that are actually in harms way is less than 1% of the population of any nation that I can think of. If your nations hospital system lacks the redundancy to handle that then you've got much bigger problems.

It is tactically smart to only critically wound your enemy but you don't get that choice unless you're a sniper/marksman or design landmines or some shit.

Hey /k/, just getting into archery as of late and I've decided that I want a bow that is good for both target practice and hunting. Is there a good draw weight capable of taking a deer, but not so heavy as to be inconvenient to use for practice? I also am not considering compound bows.

Samick Sage. You need at least 40# to take down a deer, but considering you're new, begin with ~25# limbs, and work yourself up. That means that once you get good at 25, you get the 30# limbs and so on. A thumb of rule is that if you're new to bowhunting, you'll be spending this year practicing , and the next year hunting.
Watch NuSensei, primitivesurvival etc. for some tips.
And this guide: http://www.bestrecurvebowguide.com/tuning-your-recurve-bow-part-1/
>>
>>34713579
Same guy here. You'll also invest in more than the bow, like finger tabs/gloves, armguards, string nocks, and equipment needed to set the string nock. You'll also have to purchase something to fire the arrow off, whether that's an elevated arrow rest or the shelf covered with leather. The best tip is to ask around at the local archery store or club, but avoid general sporting and hunting stores, as they now close to nothing about this.
If that's not possible, then feel free to ask more around here and other places on the internet.

>but considering you're new, begin with ~25# limbs

Please stick to this Anon's advice. I've seen too many people crippling their own progress by trying to prove how tough they are and picking draw weights way too high for them.
The most important thing to practice as a beginner is technique, and you'll only get that down by constantly practicing it, which means many repetitions. The additional strength to switch to higher draw weights without seeing your technique suffer comes as a byproduct all on its own.

Well, my C&R License finally came. What's /k/'s opinion of the different C&R/milsurp dealers? Which are, in your experience, the best and worst? Which are the most honest when it comes to stating the condition of the gun? ("good to very good - shiny bore" but it looks like dog shit and is practically smoothbore)

Aim surplus basically never actually has surplus, and they seem to rarely update their stock. I've only ever bought ammo from them. No problems doing that.

I've bought a few accessories from liberty tree, and i had good experiences with them. The shipping can take awhile, but they're good.

I've only bought one thing from Simpson, and it wasnt a gun. They were decent, and I've heard from others that their descriptions are spot on and their prices decent to good.

Haven't dealt or heard reviews of the others.

Glade to hear Liberty Tree is good - they have some interesting stuff.
