Increased reliability from a centerfire cartridge and generally higher-quality firearms.
.22LR has the reputation of bouncing around inside of someone's body moreso than .25ACP, and .22LR is much cheaper and more available.
Neither are amazing man-stoppers. Choose whichever one suits you, but I wouldn't rely on either one.

I have a severe astigmatism in my dominant eye. I need suggestions for some non-magnified/very low magnification red dot substitutes. Not trying to get anything over 1.25x.
I was in /akg/ yesterday, and got some recommendations for either the rakurs or PK-AS with a 1913 rail mount.

Generally yes but replace after it takes even one. Distance velocity caliber and countless other factors will determine how much a plate can absorb but it will stop high velocity shit that steel cannot

The Pump-Action is superior to all other types of manually operate actions.
why is it better than the Lever gun?
-Can easily use a more conventional and stronger locking mechanism such as those found on the bolt action.
-Can be easily operated in the prone position
-working the action does not throw off the aim
-Finger can remain on trigger while working the action
-easily designed to be magazine fed
-doesnt require your hand to be inside of a ring.
-The bolt does not comeback in your face when working the action
-bolt can lock up inside barrel instead of receiver, so the receiver can be made of lighter material.
-jams are easily resolved like on any semi-automatic rifle(remove mag, operate action)
-can be scaled up easily.
-easier to manufacture
-smoother action
-stuck casings can be mortar dropped, unlike lever guns which you have to break across something.
-easier to disassemble and clean
-action is barely exposed when operating the action.

The owner's manual of my gun says you should never dry fire indoors because you might forget to unload the chamber. That gave me an idea. Why not do all your dry firing with your gun aimed at a tank of water? That way, if you ever have an accidental discharge, the water will stop the bullet. I'll call it the safety tank.

Hey guys, I've got a question about accuracy, more spec. Pistol accuracy. I'm pretty decent with a rifle, it just comes naturally. However, I'm a real crap shot with a pistol. Even at short range, it seems I aim at point x, but hit 5-6 inches away, or miss the target. I do the standard grip, and just changed firing hands from left to right (right eye dominant but I'm a lefty, so there ya go).
What could I be doing wrong? Even if, say my bore was shot out, how bad should my shots be? I don't have money for classes, and I'd rather just level up my pistol skills myself. Any tips are greatly appreciated, as this is just embarrassing.

I used to be the same. Dry firing exercises really helped me.
I went with a laser system. When I first got it I thought something was wrong with the laser target because I never hit it.
I'm a lot more accurate now.

This little trick was, for me, a huge help in tightening my groups. It's called a "gip". All it is is just a tiny little mark, line, scratch, or anything, on the very top of the front sight. I used some of my wife's nail polish, and a little sliver of wood as a 'brush'.
Simple principle really-- when you're shooting, you just concentrate on that little spot when you shoot. Do all your normal things... hold your breath a moment, use the middle of the pad on your finger, firm push-pull grip, relaxed stance, smooth trigger squeeze... but don't take your eyes off that gip.
That, and about a zillion rounds of practice and you should be good to go!

One of the GQ threads here ignited my inner gear fag and I set off on a whirlwind scouting and shopping spree in my AO.
I ended up scoring this backpack for $20 after I talked the woman down a bit. It's my first tactical style backpack, and it looks legit, but I ca'nt find a label in it- idea on model or name?
It has a plastic stiffener in it ( which I emulated in my other backpack with a pair of cheap plastic cutting boards.)
My other question is- which pocket is for the hydration bladder?? Does it go next to the plastic stiffener or does it go in the rearmost pocket that's almost an exterior pocket? Is it designed for a specific bladder, or could someone recommend one?

I was in the muhreens, two deployments to talibanistan. Pretty familiar with trigger pulls on different weapon systems.
I recently bought an M&P Shield MA compliant. This means ten pound trigger pull minimum.
