Morning /k/
I got to thinking yesterday, I wonder how hard it would be to build a replica non-suppressed De Lisle carbine?
A short little .45 carbine seems like a great idea.
From what I've read getting the mag adapter right and the mags set up properly is the finnicky hard.
Thoughts, komrades?
I would probably want a suppressed one.
Realistically speaking, How heavy/large do breasts have to be to perform this feat?
Can a sumo wrestler do this?
>>34753784
I don't have the .gif, but there is one of a rather fat individual supporting an AK under his gut fold. I imagine it is possible, but there needs to be an uncomfortable amount of sweat and sagging to provide cover and friction for such a thing.

You didn't have anything better to post, didn't you?
What are your thoughts on the L1A1 ?

FN-FAL is better.
Grip angle is more comfortable to the FN grip. Restriction to single fire seems arbitrary and unnecessary, having your soldiers using single fire is a training concern. Cocking handle is superior. Other than that, its an FAL in Imperial.
>>34753151
Unlike most FALs its got chrome-lined bore and barrel.
So /k/ how do you deal with fighting, combatin' and operating in the rain or any rainy and gloomy weather for that matter? Are there certain measures needed to be taken asides from heaving waterproof/durable clothing, and making sure your weapon is maintained for such wetness, and making sure you also see well during such a combat scenario?

Just fucking deal with it by wearing waterproofs

We were up a welsh mountain on exercise, we were in the clouds so couldn't see 10 feet in front of us, then it starts chucking down hailstones and then a fucking lightning storm starts.
that was fun.

Humans are waterproof from the skin on you little bitch

And what of the anus and other orifices?
I don't like to drown.
What would you buy/build with up to $5,000?
My grandmother died a few months ago and the estate stuff was finally settled, and I got a very small piece.
Well what do you already have and what do you need?
Good AR and ammo will take up 1500 of that. More for tacticool.
Depends on what you like.
I'd buy rare milsurp since I have everything else.

Don't waste your inheritance on stuff you don't need. Put that money in a savings account. Anybody can earn an income, but if you don't save, you're one paycheck away from being broke.
That being said, if you can tell me what you specifically need in a gun, I'll tell you what will give you your best bang for you buck. Are you looking for bang for a hunting rifle, carry pistol, plinking gun, or what?
>>34752765
Seconded. I blew my inheritance like a damned fool and desperately wish I had invested in everything from Bitcoin to CO marijuana companies.
Invest your windfal and reap 10 times the benefits in just a few years, and 100 times the benefits in a few decades.

Is the 416 a meme?
Or does it offer significant advantages over traditional AR15 impingement designs?
Its not a meme, but the advantages aren't significant either. Its just somewhat better suited to suppression since with the piston you dont get hot gas coming out of the charging handle in your eye. If you're a civilian that doesn't intend to can it (I feel like the Venn diagram of people who can afford an MR556 but cant afford a tax stamp would be pretty small, but w/e), yeah its 100% meme.
>>34749631
>significant advantages over traditional AR15 impingement designs?
None.
I was actually issued a 10.5in upper. Sort of cool at first but problem surfaced in less than a year. Called HK in VA. Even spoke with the LAV (who was super helpful). IMO not better than the issued M4A1 SOCOM.

I'm going into Army basic training out of shape as fuck in two weeks. I can only run 2 miles in 17 minutes, do about 35~40 push ups in 2 minutes, and about 40-45 sit ups in 2 minutes. How fucked am I?
>>34749518
Absolutely fine, just try hard in BCT and you'll pass easily. BCT is built to pass 90%+ of people.
Just don't expect to do any high-speed shit unless you can get your APFT up into the high 200s at the least.
You will wish you know how to swordfight when Holtzman shield becomes a thing.
HEMA and SCA fag here, way ahead of ya.
>>34748886
I just see a lot of dancing with a sword. That may be epic by sword fighting standards, I wouldn't know. He likes leaving his gut and chest exposed quite a lot.
So close to quads
The slow blade penetrates the shield, swords are shit at penetrating a holtzman shield because the guy wearing the shield has space to just move into it
Anyone know what kind of pistol this could be? I was thinking an old Colt .32

thread.
Good thing that i am a gonger
During the Civil War, would it have been possible to design and build a tank (or something similar to a tank) using only materials and tech available at the time? I don't mean just any tank, but a tank that would have been reasonably effective in actual combat and not a complete dumpster fire.
If it is plausible, what do you think it would look like? What type of role would it be used in? What type of weapons would it be equipped with? How would the opposing force deal with it on the battlefield? Would it have significantly altered the course of the war?
>>34747297
>During the Civil War, would it have been possible to design and build a tank
no
>>34747297
I'll at least tell why.
The thing about track-laying vehicles is that they need an engine with a shit-load of torque to overcome the suspension's inherent extreme static friction.
This is in direct opposition to the only method of propulsion available at the time: relatively early steam engines. They are very powerful, but have extremely low torque, especially from a standstill. I suppose you /could/ use some sort of steam turbine (keep in mind the first of these was a 10hp plant, and wasn't invented until 1884), but that requires such a volume of steam that the firebox and boiler would take up the vast majority of any hypothetical vehicle.
In short, the tech simply wasn't there yet. The two technologies necessary are high powered internal combustion engines, and transmissions, clutches, and other drive-train components strong enough to take the required abuse.
At the earliest, I'd say you could make one in the mid-1900s, but not much earlier.
I'm also curious how much armor would be needed to defend against enemy canon fire?
Is there any way that train tracks could have been adapted to allow some form of early tank or artillery to make it close enough to the field to be useful? Perhaps not for skirmishes, but If there were enough major battles that were anticipated, maybe then it could've been employed?
Why are stick grenades no longer used? Would they not accurate to throw then a round one? And you could throw them further.

Okay I have a question.
What is a good pistol made around 1900 to 1920, that's uses a widely available bullet, doesn't cost much more than 1000$, and isn't the Luger, or the Colt 1911.
Oh and I guess early 20th century pistol thread to keep this going.

Pretty much any of the Browning designs, 1900, 1903, 1908, etc.
The early revolvers from Colt or S&W would work for this, too.
Walther PP, if you don't mind .32 or .380. Although, those were from the late 20s early 30s.
