Hey /k/
I was wandering for lack of a better phrase;
"If I join the military, will it hold me back or hinder me legally or otherwise in the future?"
I just came back from the movie "The Martian" [warning spoiler alert] and when commander lewis is describing the plan to rescue watney she comments that the other astronauts will probably be excluded from future missions for the mutiny whereas her and Martinez will be court martialed for their involvement.
I was wondering if military service will have other repercussions in life like, If I join the australian army will I be excluded from entering a country like russia or something, or if I get into a fight and kill someone in self defense would I be judged harsher for my "training".
I think I remember another movie where a marine or Seal killed a guy in self defense and because he was an elite soldier he was sentenced more severely because of it.
I obviously ask because I want to join the military.

In the US military depending on your commander and job, you may not be permitted to travel to certain countries. Especially Muslim ones.
This is only while serving though. Once you're out you can do whatever.

Here's the deal /k/. I live in Australia, the land of no fun, and have finally gone through all the fuckery to get my firearms license (for range shooting). I know which safe I'm getting, and I know a .22 is a good place to start (I wanna start with a rifle), whats a good first gun that's legal in Australia for about $400 AUD?
Basically everything is classed as an "Assault Weapon". I kind of want a Mosin (which is legal) but I'm not sure if its a good first gun.

Have done that with a roommates girlfriend. Nothing like standing in the living room at 3AM with a confused semi drunk roommate and his semi nervous girlfriend ejecting shells form your shotgun onto the floor.
I know I'm not the only one who religiously cleans their guns after shooting. I see my handgun as a tool and treat it as such, but I also keep it cleaned and oiled.
I recently went shooting with my buddy who's handgun (Glock 19) was filthy. He said he "enjoys" the gritty trigger pull and has no interest in cleaning his gun completely. He has the same idea that his gun is a tool, but differs in that he doesn't care to keep it clean.
Every so often I will take my gun down to the bones and clean every part.
What do you think /k/?

Are the crotch straps doable /k/? I want a way to hold down my plate carrier to prevent it from flopping around, currently I leave it somewhat loose for maximum breathability but it does bounce a bit when sprinting. Can these be done without pinching the hell out of my sack?

How come in nearly every firefight video I've seen the enemy is never visible in the videos? Judging from the audio in most of them it seems like even the participants aren't sure where they're shooting from either and just start mag dumping in the general location of the shots. Somebody please explain modern firefight tactics to me.
I'm not dogging on them or anything, I just don't understand it at all.

Good evening /k/omrads.
I've recently acquired a Winchester XPR in .270 and now I'm in the market for some ammo.
Here is my situation:
As I said above, rifle is a NIB Winchester XPR.
It came with a Crossfire II 3-9x40 scope.
I'm looking for two types of ammo.
I'd like ammo for plinking/sighting in the scope.
I also need ammo for durr and hog. I'm in the North Texas area if that helps regarding whitetail size.
My plan is to sight in the rifle at 200 yards and reach out no further than 400 yards on any shot.
What do? Pic related, of course.
