I've been torn between getting a P226/P229 or a P30/P30L for a while now and finally decided to get a P30.

What are the chances that anyone offers discounts on HK products on black friday? I've never bought any firearms on black friday before, so I'm just curious of whether I should buy it now or wait it out for a better deal.

All I can tell you is I fucking love my 229. However, right now I'm trying to decided between the Sig P224 or the HK P2000 SK for my CC. Both are great, but I'm leaning towards the 224 for more capacity and thinner body.

My main carry gun is a P239. I've had a P220 and a SP2022 that I have regrettably sold. I was set on picking up a MK 25 or a P229, but then I started thinking about HK and how I haven't owned one yet.

I may yet again change my mind, but as long as it's DA/SA, I'm okay with either Sig or HK.

>>27791231
I have a huge DA/SA boner too man. Was looking at the CZ 2075 Rami BD, but I decided against it.

53.7 billion for 55
41 A, 26 for US
12 B

$98 million average without engine
Probably 93 for the A's. 105 for the C's. And 110 for the B's. This a mostly A buy.

WASHINGTON — Contracts worth $5.37 billion have been awarded to Lockheed Martin to produce 55 Lot IX F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, the Pentagon announced Tuesday evening.

A total of 41 F-35A conventional ground-based aircraft were ordered, including 26 for the US Air Force, six for Norway, seven for Israel and two for Japan.
Twelve F-35B Short Takeoff and Vertical Landing aircraft were ordered, six for the US Marine Corps and six for the United Kingdom.
Another two F-35C carrier-based variants were ordered for the US Navy.
The aircraft are to be delivered by December 2017, according to a Pentagon contract announcement.

About what was expected. Minor cost reductions. We will see what full production brings.
>>
>>27790979

You realize they're going to buy 2500 fighters, right? A starting price of $98 mil for the first 55 with plenty of room to still go down isn't bad at all.

For those autistic cost lovers, like me.

Last contract was 98 million per F-35 A average, and 94.3 million average for America. It's likely closer to 95 and 92 now.

Pic related for the other costs. I think I got the B and C mixed up in my OP.

sup /k/, I've done a few other threads about "I went to a WW2 museum so here are photos for you" (namely about the former OKW and the Seelow Heights memorial), so here's yet another one.

Sadly I'm stuck on a 3G connection so I can't share too much this time around, but I'll give what I can since /k/ has always been really appreciative of this sort of thread.

Tank Museum Munster is the former Bundeswehr collection of tanks that has been turned into a public museum. Their exhibits span WW1 to the modern day, so there's a lot of nice stuff to see.

To kick things off, here's a replica of an A7V - the only original one was captured by the Aussies and taken to 'straya.

Now with this one I'm sad that I didn't photograph the explaining plaque next to it as I have forgotten its designation. It's a german tank similiar to the Whippet, but not inspired by it - as so often, different engineers in different places came to similiar solutions.

The A7V was a relative failure (like the british tanks, even though it had better armor) and the original idea of mass producing it to turn the tide of war was changed to an order of 20.

This medium tank here (the french who captured and used it inbetween the wars removed the cannon before giving it back) is a lot more in size and shape like what we know as a tank though.

Even though it is not a tank, it's an armored car that was used after WW1 by the Reichswehr to help combat the multitude of revolutionary groups that sprung up and tried to disturb the order. As far as I remember this is the only original one still existing.

Even though the quality of metal used to construct it was bad and its main armament didn't really stand a chance against T-34s and KV-1s, the Panzer 38 (t) of czechoslovakian origin was still used by the Wehrmacht to supplement the Panzer III and IV forces in the East.

Otto Carius started out on one of these, so they weren't total failures.

Hey guys,

I'm hoping to go to Army OCS. I've been speaking with a recruiter and things were looking good, I had great grades in college, a steady career since, solid PFT, etc.

But I found out that getting a combat arms MOS if youu go civilian to OCS is damn near next to impossible. Apparently those all get sucked up by the West Pointers and ROTC studs before going to the OCS grads.

I then heard that if you want a combat-arms related job, National Guard was the way to go. There's a MUCH better chance you'll have that open up as an option for you vs going Active.

Anyone have any experience in the matter? I don't mind my civilian career, so to me, it seems like being combat arms in the Guard is better than getting stuck with a miserable MOS I hate while Active.

Over the centuries, we've seen child soldiers used for almost every major conflict time and time again. Because of the state of emergency or for political reasons, many children are drafted into the military and forced to fight against their will. Multiple pacts have tried to keep this from happening, but it is almost hopeless to stop children from being drafted or recruited in the military worldwide.

Even young girls aren't protected. The League of German Girls trained girls minimal fighting techniques for example, while their primary role was literally to produce pure, aryan baby boys. In other parts of the world, young boys and girls are given tasks from loading ammunition to fighting on the front lines.

What does /k/ think of using children as soldiers? Would /k/ shoot a child given a gun? Alternatively, if your commander told you to take no prisoners, and you saw children surrendering, what would you do then?

I like Opinels - a lot. They are not only cheap but reliable and great for virtually everything during a day, that requires a sharp blade (aside from self-defense but that should be clear).

Since the Opinels are also pretty easy to modify, there are myrriad ways to make these knifes very unique, according to each own's skills, tools.

So this thread's primary task is to collect and discuss Opinel mods, mod techniques and pictures of modified Opinels.

Other modified knifes are very welcome too - but If you post them, at least provide some information on what exactly you modified - not everybody knows the factory-new look of every knife.

FYI: I just trip in this thread for information purposes and not because I want to be an edgy tripfag.

In case you dont really know what an OPinel is:

Joseph Opinel began making knives in 1890 in Savoie, France as a simple working man's or peasant's knife. It proved popular with the local farmers, herdsmen, and paysans-vignerons (peasant winemakers) of the area. In 1897, a series of twelve sizes, numbered 1 to 12, was developed. From 1901–1903, Joseph Opinel built his first factory in Pont de Gévoudaz and produced a machine for mass production of the knife's wooden handles.

The company hired peddlers to sell the knives and opened a small shop near the Chambéry railway junction, where the knives became popular with PLM railroad workers, who in turn spread word of the brand throughout France.By 1909, Opinel had registered his first trademark for the Opinel knife, choosing the main couronnée ('crowned hand") as his emblem.A few years later Opinel annual sales were in the hundreds of thousands, and by the start of World War II as many as 20 million knives had been sold.

The Opinel Virobloc or safety twistlock mechanism was invented by Marcel Opinel in 1955, increasing the safety and versatility of the knife by allowing the blade to be locked in the open position. In 2000, the Virobloc locking mechanism was improved to allow locking the blade in either the open or closed position.

In 1985 the Victoria and Albert Museum in London selected the Opinel as part of an exhibit celebrating the “100 most beautiful products in the world”, featuring the Opinel alongside the Porsche 911 sports car and the Rolex watch. The Opinel was also selected as one of the 999 classic designs in Phaidon Design Classics and has been exhibited by the New York's Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) as a design masterpiece.
>>
Materials

The traditional Opinel knife has a beechwood handle and a high carbon XC90 steel (acier au carbone) blade. Opinel also offers most of its models with a Sandvik 12C27M stainless steel (acier inox) blade. Custom Opinel models are available using luxurious or exotic handle woods such as oak, walnut, olive, rosewood and stained hornbeam, as well as other materials such as cowhorn.

The Opinel Slim Effile series uses a tapered handle with a slender clip point blade made of Sandvik stainless steel, and the handle may be obtained in a variety of different materials, including bubinga wood, olive wood, and cowhorn.
>>
Construction

The current Opinel knife consists of a blade, wooden handle, stainless steel metal clamping band, stainless pivot pin (axle), and (except in the case of the smaller models) a stainless steel Virobloc locking collar, which locks the blade open or closed.

Smaller Opinel models (Nos. 2 through 5) have no locking blade mechanism, and use only the friction of the clamping band against the compressed handle and knife tang to hold the blade open, much the same as all Opinel knives sold before 1955. This simple design was sometimes known as a "penny knife" or "peasant's knife".

The locking collar(Virobloc) was patented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, and is only found on the larger Opinel models (#6 and up). While simple, the locking mechanism is quite sturdy, and converts the folding Opinel knife into nearly the equivalent of a fixed-blade knife for all practical purposes.Due to the way in which the locking collar tapers, the blade does not loosen over time and can be fixed firmly even once the mechanism is quite worn. In 2000 the locking collar was modified slightly to allow the blade to be locked in the closed as well as the open position. This feature prevents the blade from opening by accident when carried in a pocket.

Eighty percent of all Opinel knives use traditional beechwood for the handle. The company's large demand for beechwood not infrequently results in a shortage of precut handle blanks, forcing the use of rectangular (bulk) sheets, which generate considerable wood waste. The excess wood waste and sawdust generated is subsequently recycled.
