>Martini-Henry
>Rolling Block (military style)
Which of these two would /k/ buy? I plan on getting one and I also plan on shooting it, although it will be minimal.
>>27883260
My personal preference would be the rolling block.
Many different models out there with varying histories and chamberings.
>>27883260
Why not Martini-Enfield for ammo availability .303 british is on the expensive side but you can use modern factory hunting rounds.
>>27883365
Because I want a big-bore blackpowder rifle. I already have 2 lee-enfields.

Ask questions, answer questions, bitch about Air Force recruiters. Just keep it contained to this general.
ITS here leaving this month.
How often are you in a sub and for how long is the duration of the trip? When you port, how long do you port for?
I have virtually no will to do anything due to undiagnosed depression/anhedonia.
Would 2 years or so in the army contribute to me unfucking myself? Has anyone experienced a similar change in themselves during/after the army?
sorry If I've made some kind of mistake
>>27881627
It should probably help, did in my case. Boosted my self-worth a ton.
As long as you're not actually mentally nutters, and don't show depression, they probably won't care/notice at recruiting.
Alright /k what do you put in your home defense shotgun?
>>27879576
my wife's penis. natch.
>>27879576
shotgun bullets, duh
>>27879576

I'm fascinated by the variety of grenade launchers whether stand alone models (ex. M79, M320, RG-6), rifle grenades (M7, M31, APAV40), and all the crazies in between.
So lets talk grenade launchers and whether the older models could find a use on the battlefields of today and tomorrow and how well the modern ones are doing!
Pic related is Danish soldier with Lewis Machine Tool M203 performing guard duty at anti-terror conference.
Finnish SFs use the HK69, one of the oldest standalone 40mm GL systems.
I still see man-portable grenade launchers to have a role on battlefield; they can be utilized as poorman's mortars, destroy weaker fortifications and lighter vehicles, and cause fear in the enemy forces.
All the special ammos (smoke and so on) can provide some tactical advantage as well.
sometimes I wish they would bring back rifle grenades but I'm not sure if the 5.56 round can reliably launch them long distance compared to .30-06 and 7.62x51.
Alright /k/. Hip, drop-leg, or shoulder holster? Go.
>>27847470
It's whatever you prefer you fucking faggot.
Think for yourself.
>>27847487
I know that, I just want to see what different people prefer
I've only ever used hip
>>27847470
If I wasn't living in the subtropics I'd consider a shoulder holster for concealment.
For OC the only one I don't care for is drop-leg because they inevitably become loose or otherwise get in the way while running.
Anywhere in Australia where i can get a Moist Nugget? Is it worth the buy?
Trawl on used guns.
Or yknow. Get a SMLE for cheaper, and get a better rifle too!

does /k/ like stippling?
do you do it your self or send to someone else
nope.

Absolutely not.

why
This might be more suited for /his/, but I'll take a chance with it here.
Post warrior cultures or countries that you think are cool, have influenced warfare historically, and hopefully remain /k/ool today despite our western pussification.
Also post their weapons
I'll start with the Gurkhas
>be poor village boy
>grow up, join nepalese army
>fight so hard, the global superpower decides to enlist you in East India Trading Co. Army
>fight in virtually every major war since, including Iraq, despite your own country being very secluded from the rest of the world
>make decent bushknife, sell to neckbeards for $100 a pop
>profit

>Completely under the thumb of the British

Shiggy Diggy Doo friendo, i sure hope you don't believe this.
How loud is a supersonic 5.56 round? I understand suppressors lower the db by quite a bit, but just how quiet are they?
Youtube videos don't seem to provide a good means for understanding how loud they are and Hollywood movies depict them as being quiet death machines that won't wake the neighborhood.
If someone were to fire a suppressed 5.56 supersonic from a 16" barrel, 10 feet away from you in an open environment, how loud would it be? Would the round still cause hearing damage? Can someone compare what it sounds like to an everyday sound?
BOP BOP
>>27846818
Rifles and shotguns?
Still over 110db, as in can cause some instant damage.
it'd be a loud, spiky bang. Like a very loud stapler being hit nearby.
Just look up some Youtube comparisons.
>>27846818
>If someone were to fire a suppressed 5.56 supersonic from a 16" barrel, 10 feet away from you in an open environment, how loud would it be?
About 135dB at1m, depending on the can and conditions.
So at ~3m, about 125dB.
Still rather loud, but hearing safe for a hundred rounds or so.
Military vehicles you'd want as your personal ride.
>For the road
>And off-road

Navy is pretty cool
Leaving for OSUT in Janurary, have an airborne option on my contract. What else besides RASP is there to look into after jump school?
>>27846677
Alrighty /k/, I'm an Ausfag currently studying at uni but there is no way in hell I'm going to complete this degree.
I'm looking to do something combat/security related, don't really care what. I've got my application in for infantry but if there's something that prevents me enlisting I'd like to have other options open.
Anyone got any ideas what industry I should look into?
Pick somewhat related
>>27846525
Join the Army
>>27846525
there arn't many security jobs and they are usually word of mouth
a lot of guys in our industry are cowboys
when considering joining the army, remember you arn't actually joining "the army", rather you are joining a part of the army
recruiters will give you the impression that you only have a few options in order to fill areas that are lacking manpower
if you join infantry, you wont gain much in the way of skills, which long term is a really big deal because after you leave he army you will be fairly unemployable and might be stuck in low paid work
I would seriously look into police work before thinking about the millitary, you get to live a normal life, stay in a normal community
>>27847579
As loyal to the infantry as I am, this anon is correct. While you don't gain many skills in the infantry to use in the civilian world making a career out of the infantry is not an awful idea.
Can anyone identify this gun?
>>27846346
Looks like a revolver.

HereÅ› a bigger picture is that helps.
Hey /k/ today I got a strange phone call.
Backstory:
>be me
>enlisted
>35N
>SPC shamming my way through a tour at a small duty station
>Russian shit pops off and actually do work with intel value
>Get noticed
>perpetually fucked up room but actually super clean that shit THE DAY BEFORE A SUPRISE WHITE GLOVE
>apparently I have best room according to commander
Today
>get off of work
>go to room
>start jerking it
>get phone call
>think its probably the new squad leader I just got
>Hey SPC OP this is CPT Nignog, some time ago you expressed interest in going to West Point, are you still interested?
>Yes sir?
>vaguely recall something about that
>discuss ACT/SAT score (did bretty good on those), college transcripts of the year and a half that I did
>ask him to call back in a few days on my day off
Long story short, what's the deal with this /k/? Is it legit? A scam? I'm going to talk to my commander tomorrow.
Worth mentioning that I have never heard of this CPT, but I don't want to let an opportunity like this slip by
Hi, another shitbag E4 here.
My friend did this in the AF reserves, he's at the air force academy. It's pretty common if you're smart and get noticed. They're really big on it now for whatever reason.
At the same time, I'd ask your Readiness/Training NCO about the captain and if there's anything else you should know because he'd have more information.
If you want to do it OP, you should. It's a great opportunity if you're fine with being in the military at least 8 more years.
>>27846194
That's the thing, I thought that I would do one tour and get out, but now I'm not sure. I was perfectly happy to chill at a small strategic unit that doesn't even pt.
But imagine the shitbagging that I could do as an officer... It could be legendary....

Nice knife though, really diggin' the handle.

Yeah I quite like that design too, looks like a neat little utility design and m390 is awesome, wouldn't choose lime green though.
I'm really liking the design of this little knife too, still tossing up whether to get one or not though.
