Can ballistic shields stop rifle / assault rifle bullets? I'm looking it up on the Internet, but I'm finding a lot of confusing answers, I remember reading somewhere that a helmet heavy enough to stop a rifle bullet would rip your head off.
I'm asking about hand-carried shields specifically (like the CS 1.6 tactical shield).
Look up NIJ ratings what they mean, and compare them with the shield you're looking at and it's rating.
And yes, hand shields will generally stop intermediate rifle rounds

>Look up NIJ ratings
I did, but I found it pretty hard to believe. So basically a 30kg shield can protect your entire body from the front, while on the move? Why do they even use these cart-pushed shields like the Ramses then?
>>34773319
They are meant to be semi stationary. A shield holder may have to stand for many hours facing a hostage situation. That weight will get reallllllly heavy in a few minutes.
How would /k/ deal with a "zombie" type apocalypse (bodily fluid tramsmission, and waterbourne)?
>Grab gun
>Shoot self
i have a cabin in alaska, i'd prolly wanna stay there.
also how would op?

E5 muhreen here, heavily debating reenlisting. I have 3 job opportunities, 2 of which I am completely uninterested in, Drill Instructor, and Recruiter. The third is embassy guard which I am mildly interested in, but it's a 6 year commitment. The first 3 years will be in some shithole, probably Lybia, or Egypt or some hellhole, but the second phase I get to pick where I go. I was thinking Japan, Korea, or Germany might be nice.
I want to go for MARSOC again, but it will be at LEAST 18 months before I can MAYBE get a spot, I washed out the first time, and the corps is currently downsizing 03xx MOSs, and putting us in more POG positions when we reenlist.
Wat do?
Be an adult. Weigh your options and make up your own mind.
>>34772919
Do something that'll help you find a job in civ life, even if your mos is pog as fuck
>>34772919
are you a POC?
I made this thread when I first migrated here about a year ago, and it was pretty entertaining.
What is your favorite thing about /k/?
no thats gay
lets give things we dont like about /k/ because then we can discuss them and work to improve them
i'll start:
>the existence of BakedRus
>>34772670
Endless chinkposting.
I honestly wonder what they gain from being so fucking hostile and confrontational.
What is he shooting /k/?
A tv or monitor with no screen
>>34772544
Jokes on you faggot
where do officers go when they die?
I dunno man. I always figured it's like an endless void not to different than the incomprehensible amount of time that passed leading up to your birth. An endless nothing.
>>34772384
They don't go to heaven where the angels fly
>>34772384
Nowhere.
You ever known an officer that could actaully read a map well enough to route plan? That's why they have NCOs assigned to look after them!
I'm looking for guns under $500 that function properly and are fun to shoot. I don't really care what kind of gun it is as long as it follows all 3 qualifications above.
I had fun with my Mak before selling so that's a good start
Caniks TP9 variants are affordable and reliable too
Yugo m57 tokarev is pretty much the /k/ standard, SOG has them for like 240 bucks
For a start:
Maverick 88: $200ish
Ruger 10/22: $200ish
Marlin 60: $180ish
Now that the dust has settled, heh, what are your thoughts on su-30? Specifically mki variant
>>34772165
Probably the finest affordable combat aircraft in the world right now.
>>34772165
>Probably the finest affordable combat aircraft in the world right now.
That would be the Gripen desu
>>34772165
Meme aside, what is the difference between Su-30SM and Su-35? They both seems to be top of the line flankers to me
I'll looking to get my CC soon but I have a quick question that I couldn't seem to find the answer for on google.
The class is like 8-10 hours long and I noticed something that said the class is REQUIRED to be at least that long. Why though? What all do they cover and why does it need to be that long no matter what?
>>34772122
I just took one today. In the one I went to, they go over gun safety/parts/basic operation for revolvers and semi auto, muzzle control, etc for about half the day. The second half is the legal implications of possessing or using your firearm in different situations, when you can and can't have it on you, how to travel with it, etc.
>>34772147
Did you use your gun or did they supply one?
>>34772326
Different anon
Took the class at a gunstore with indoor range. They provided the rental guns.
I would not trust some of the people taking the class to bring their own guns.
Well, I asked a couple of days ago about using some match 308 my dad had lying around for sighting in my new AR10 once the scope comes in.
Visited him and picked it up...here's the boxes. Is it anything special other than being kinda old?
>Shooting collectable ammo
Pls be b8
Collectable? Really? I thought all ammo was for shooting. Not B8.
What are /k/'s opinions on AR10s for medium-long range marksmanship/engagement?
Seems like a pretty flexible weapon platform for non-extreme CQB situations. I'd like to add something tailored for longer range to my collection.
Opinions for this model specifically would be nice. Everything I read about this rifle online seems pretty positive.
its a great idea
>>34771966
Anyone here actually have/use AR10s?
>>34772060
no, its just for looking at
Looks like the military is finally doing away with that fucking 556
Was there anything that stoner guy got right with his overpowered 22, or was it a complete mistake?
>>34771687
Nothing will come of this, it's just like the M16/M4 'replacement' programs that always get canceled.
>>34771687
This is the third thread on this today. Your mom made a complete mistake by not getting an abortion.
>>34771687
I can't wait to seen an article about it in three weeks on TFB
"Hurr durr muh gun protect me from da evil gubbament'
>Gets drone striked
>Gets run over by a tank

I like guns too, but to say they can fight the army that has tanks, laser guided rockets, and nukes is asinine
>>34771626
YOR TANKS WELL NOT HELP YOU GEEE EYE

>Thinking the US Government will want to go through the hassle of launching nuclear weapons onto it's own soil
tl;dr gun babby in need of spoonfeeding
i am a complete fucking idiot and i don't know the first thing about the process of obtaining a gun so i have some noob questions. i would use google but every fucking thing i find is either too general to be useful, nogunz propaganda, or some shitty blog trying to shill products that i don't want. also you guys seem to have a tremendous amount of experience and insight that i don't think i can find anywhere else. so feel free to roast me but please at least answer all the questions before the bump limit. if you don't want to type out a whole answer and just give me a link to some website that would answer all this for me that would be fantastic too.
>what happens when you walk into a gun dealer or a gun show and say "hello sir i would like to purchase weapon." in fact, what's the meaningful difference between buying a gun at a show vs a dealer and what should i know going into either of them?
>ultimately i just want a couple handguns (probably in the neighborhood of .45 ACP but that's subject to change) and an AK VEPR. what, if any, licenses or permits would i need to obtain them and what does getting those permits involve?
>how can i tell if i'm being jewed? i'm especially worried about the AK, i want to be able to look at a gun and know if it's well-made or shoddy pig iron bullshit. are there any resources that demonstrate what an AK "should" look like, in general?
>how/where can i learn about gun anatomy? if some dealer is prattling on about the specs of a gun i want to know what the hell he's talking about
Firstly, what state you in?
also
City or rural?
OK. First off, what state do you live in? Different states have different laws. The basic process in most states involves picking your gun(s) you want then filling out a form called the 4473. After that's filled out, a background check is run on you. Usually takes less than 10 minutes.
As for the AK, read this
