I have an AR9, AR10, and multiple AR15s.

You can buy an IO if you enjoy a mushrooming/deforming bolt and carrier.

Unless something has changed they won't last more than a few thousand rounds. If you do buy one, for the love of all that is holy BUY A HEADSPACE GAUGE. Otherwise you are risking life and limb shooting it.

If you want a good AK for cheap, Atlantic Firearms has the N-PAP on sale for $450 after rebate, or $500 if you can't be arsed to do it. Or if you want an AK that takes standard furniture, the WASR's are very good and can be found in the $600 range.

Stick to nylon bore brushes and use a bore guide for your cleaning rod. The old Hoppe's No.9 is still great for routine cleaning. Butch's Bore Shine is great for more difficult to remove deposits and copper fouling.

Mostly memes. Stay away from steel brushes and dont let solvent sit in your barrel for a long time. Also neutralize the solvents with oil when your done. Guns are very tough, you have to try really hard to do more damage to them than happens when they fucking fire a supersonic slug propelled by superheated high pressure gas.

be careful with your ammo. My FIL had one of those and the cylinder failed spectacularly with cheap range ammo. I can't remember which brand it was, but it blew every single chamber in the cylinder.

Taurus revolvers aren't as bad as their autos, but still aren't that great. The snub nose is kind of dumb I feel. Just don't shoot super hot loads through it and in the future do your research before, not after you buy.

Odds are you'll never need that insurance unlike something like say car or health insurance that most people will use to some extent. For the price of premiums you could just put money aside into savings or invest it. You'd be ahead doing that instead.
