Been a while since we had one.
Talk about air rifles. What do you shoot? Targets/pests/small game? Limit or FAC?
Have a question? Shoot.
>>28095949
i once killed a woodchuck with a gamo hornet .177 . hit it from about 40 feet, caught it right in the eye and killed it instantly shit was cash.
>>28095967
Sadly, the overlords here in Poland have yet to acknowledge the existence of pests, so shooting anything with an air rifle here is illegal (besides targets ofc, that's fine).
The two rifles I use (the ones in op) are both .177.
Walther lgv challenger with a BSA 4-12x50 AO; and air arms s400f classic with a hawke sidewinder 6-24x56 30sf ir.
Mostly using 8.44 gr. jsb exacts and 9.57 gr. H&N baracuda hunter extreme.
Good for hitting bottle cap-sized targets at 50 yards.
Just got my first air rifle Crossman PumpMaster 760
What round is the intersection of highest possible power and best subsonic ballistics in a rifle cartridge?
I intent to build or buy a full powered semi auto rifle soon with the express purpose of suppressed long distance precision shooting.
I really have no idea where to begin selecting the optimal caliber for both subsonic ballistics and maximum power.
Any suggestions stal/k/ers?
>>28095881
.308?
>>28095881
.300BLK is largely designed for subsonic shooting, might be a place to start looking.
>>28095893
That's where I'm starting from.
Purely supersonic, the undisputed champion of full power rifle rounds is the 6.5 Creedmore, but I can't imagine 6.5mm outperforming a 7.62mm projectile at subsonic velocities, and subloading a Creedmore case seems batshit stupid.
>>28095899
>.300BLK
Not powerful enough for precision long range shooting.
Tell me /k/
Is jagged alliance 2 1.13 a /k/ aprooved game ?
yes it is, now piss off back to /v/
I've never really got into Jagged Alliance because I thought the combats were sluggy and boring. But I played Xenonauts (a clone of X-Com) recently and I loved it, so I may try JA again.

It's something you always assume in the back of your mind, but seeing it right in front of you is just so depressing.
What are /k/'s thoughts about gun shows? Are they worth going to?
Fuddlore festival.
>>28095593
So basically ok to go to if you know your shit and you might get ripped off if you don't? That's what I seem to be reading most places.
Waste of fucking time
Closest I get is watching shotshow videos on youtube
So, I've been noticing that a lot of the content on /k/ is modern styled weapons, single/double-action, full autos, maybe the occasional off-topic (not a gun) thread. But, can we quickly just have some appreciation for break-action guns? I mean, without these, we wouldn't have some iconic weapons of media today: The Doom Super Shotgun, Ash Williams' BOOMSTICK, The Force-a-Nature in TF2 (sure, I'm lowballing there, but admittedly, it's still used a lot today)...
Showing here is a personal favorite of mine, the Thompson Arms Contender Gen. 2 (G2), which can be fitted for damn near any caliber bullet you need, ranging from .45, .22, .30-30, and more. This gun is so damn versatile, that you can use it for almost any scenario, provided you aren't trying to switch on the fly.
>>28095560
I like break action guns, but not because I give a shit about "iconic media weapons".

How long is it going to be until /k/ understands that dailymail is the Brit equivalent of the National Enquirer
>>28095360
I don't think that's the point. It's a problem when any media source spews blatant inaccuracies and untruths, particularly a monumental fuckip like confusing a slide with a magazine. They are Britbong nogunz, I guess, but still.
What are the chances of finding and purchasing a Russian made SKS in Canada?
I really want a Russian SKS, but I have read reviews on online gun stores and most people end up with a Chinese or yugo SKS

Should more nations be moving back to using 7.62x51mm NATO?
Already Turkey and Germany have made the change, Germany retiring the G36 in favor of the HK417, and Turkey going to their HK417 rip off.
In addition, Argentina still issues FALs, Austria uses FALs as a drill rifle, the FAL sees limited use in Belgium, Brazil has their domestically made rifles based on the FAL's design, Denmark issues G3s, and so does Estonia, Japan has the Howa Type 64, but who knows how much use that actually sees, Norway's Home Guard uses the G3, Pakistan's army uses the G3, South Africa still issues the FAL, Sweden uses the G3, Switzerland's Stgw-57's 7.5x55mm round is comparable to 7.62x51mm, and some of the United State's special forces units have adopted the SCAR 17.
Is 5.56 starting to become less relevant as armor technology improves, is it actually a good idea to switch to a full power rifle cartridge instead of an intermediate round?
Does this mean the US can finally use the AR-10 as a universal combat rifle, filling nearly every role like Stoner intended?
>>28094743
afaik Germany only bought a couple thousand 417s for the few forces that will actually see any action. no real, large scale switch.
>>28094775
They're replacing any G36s that break with HK417s, and by 2019 they plan a large scale replacement plan.
It's not as much about terminal performance as it is lightweight and still sort of effective. When in combat, unless you are in a stable, supported stance, your accuracy goes to shit pretty quickly. Having more rounds to put down range is more necessary, and the small, lightweight qualities of the 5.56 reigns supreme.
In early 2016 a breakthrough in technology makes small shield generators that can run for hours off a belt buckle battery reality.
These shields stop fast moving objects dead in their tracks but must allow air and slow moving objects through.
The technology is a new application of current materials and technology, and rapidly available on the commercial market at relatively affordable prices.
How quickly does this change warfare? How quickly does this change your EDC? And how?
>>28094618
My edc would not change at all. What you're talking about is a huge break through. So it's not gonna be cheap, a whole lot of ppl can't afford it either. Even so, it'd prob be a few yrs before it was really mainstream.
>>28094618
Idk man, you also gotta address how cheap spice gonna be at market price now nigga
>>28094618
For clarification, the Dune books gave roughly 10cm/s as a maximum velocity before a shield halted it. Making projectile weapons unreliable, as anything going that slow could be stopped with pretty minimal physical armor under the shield, but arrow-guns and poison dart needles still existed.
